Quick vid on taking care of pyros for team fortress 2. Song: Metaform - Love & Loss FAQ: i.imgur.com/pjo... Twitter: / slurgisauce Steam Group: steamcommunity.... HUD: code.google.com...
There is another thing to note is when a pyro doesn't have his Degreaser out, you can literally do any trick stab on him and sometimes you dodge the air blast ;). But one more thing about if they're airblasting you in a corner just as he said get yourself to a wall or prop. Make you land sooner. Camping also works.
unfortunately they buffed the airblast to the point where even if you're behind them, they can still blast you but the worst part is you cant airstrafe when you get airblasted now which sucks :(
Thanks for the tips, Slurgi! Your videos have really inspired me to play spy, and I've gotten much better to it. I have found enemy pyros complaining about 'facestabs' and 'gun noob', but it's just all the fun of playing spy. :) My second main is pyro and my main is spy (which I've been told is an ironic combo) and you've also helped improve my pyro gameplay as well. When I see a spy retreat to stairs or corners, sometimes I just stand still and spray the area trying to avoid a trickstab. And
The thing I fear pyros most for are not their ability to kill spies, but their ability to detect and indentify spies, and alert their teammates and shut off a lot of stab oppurtunities. Though lone pyros who have strayed too far from their team are easy to pick off with all the disadvantages they have in direct combat. Anyway, nice video, this did identify a lot of weaknesses they have.
I've actually just gotten into the psychology of players and how they react to certain situations, it's very interesting and can turn the tables for the entire team. You should definitely do a followup tutorial on that.
The problem here is that you just can't escape explosives with the invis watch unless you pull off something crazy. Playing with the invis watch means you have to not get caught, you have to be much less aggressive than you would with the dead ringer because you're just not gonna get away easily once you're caught.
That all comes with practising with all classes and getting to grips with their psychology. Learn what makes them tick; what makes them switch weapons when they do and you'll pick up the weapon changes with time.
You missed the strafing part when you are airblasted into the air. You -DO NOT- press w to get out of it; you use your strafe keys, usually A and D, and move your mouse to strafe out of the way.
it's become a lot harder, back in 2012 lmao, strafing off an ab was ez, but they made it much harder, this wall thing is just about dead, and most pyros won't stand right under, they will be as far away as possible.
Hey Slurgi, you should do a Spying Mentality for the Invis, Cloak & Dagger, and Dead Ringer watch. I kinda like the style of this video so maybe you could do the other "tutorials" in this fashion. Nice video, as always, and keep em coming.
Psychology aspect would be interesting. There's almost none of that in any videos out there. Especially i'd like to see something about reading the enemy's body language, and how to react to their behavior when, for example, performing a matador stab.
Use the L'etranger and Fez so you get the quiet decloak, then all you have to do is feign behind enemy lines, decloak behind someone easy and stab 'em. Preferably get some feign beforehand incase they notice you, but you should be alright.
it's all about who would be where, just be a class you know frequents a certain area and people are less suspicious, also being a sniper running around with a kukri yelling spy seems to trick people
When I started playing tf2 I always chose the spy and always lost against pyros, and I started to wonder why. Of course, it didn't take long for me to realize that going head-to-head against a pyro was not a good idea
Slurgi you should do a tutorial on disguising, because when I disguise its usually the same thing and I don't really no what weapons to switch to when disguised. Its would really help and great tutorials. :)
Stabby - Top tier Platinum Spy in competitive Team Fortress 2. Slurgi - Top Tier Pub Spy playing against people who don't know how to counter trick stabs. In the end, trickstabs are fucking nothing.
one of the default ones, If you go to your multiplayer options, then then your crosshair, pick none and you get that plus a bunch of diff ones based off of weapon out at the time.
As a player who has had lots of pyro experience I can confirm that lots of spies try these tricks but usually end up failing. The only thing you can do against an efficient pyro is to shoot him. But then again, this tutorial is for public play so these tricks are easy to perform against overconfident pyros.
All people that want to play pyro should watch spy tutorials. It gives you an insight to where you need to be, and what you need to do to out-smart a decent spy. I'm evil, and I like to be the bane to every spy's game.
Kokoro Cala If your a comp pyro the its acceptable but if you bring this into a pub your just going to ruin everyones fun and tbh that'll then make pubs boring for you and then you'll become one of those comp spies who look down at pub players basically what im saying is dont be a tryhard to ruin peoples fun
stephen allen I really could never like being a spy. It's not a friendly class at all. And I do Comp, but the thing is, killing spies is part of the game anyway. enjoying the game is killing threats to your base, and a spy on the loose is one of the bigger threats. I'd take that as a compliment.
Kokoro Cala Oh i know what you're on about i was actually playing a pub earlier when a pyro was boasting how he could beat any spy and when he came against me he didnt stand a chance not trying to boast myself but the way i thin is if this goes wrong whats my backup and if my backup goes wrong whats my backups backup :3 luckily with the kunai i can basically ignore pyros and chainstab their team then airblast even helps! but yeah all im gonna say is dont overdo it i mean wanting to be good at comp is fine but pubs are for fun and you dont wanna rek it
as an person with my second main being pyro, thank you! because the glory in TF2 is that you can counter almost every technique with another, weakness 1 and 2 you can esaly somewhat avoid by using the shotgun as your second, also good for dealing with other pyro and you shouldn`t walk in a straight line,Nr.3 is also esay I just never use meele on spyes and never follow them up the stairs and wait for them to come down and when you airblast use the shotgun instead for meele and back of a ltille.
I've notice that this is only to the pyres who go close on combat with the spy... Ex. If a pyro is close on and the spy is on the ground. The spy has the advantage to trick the pyro with a matador stab or so. A tip for Pyros are to not do that, you only want to go for the kill with the chance while having some space and make sure the spy aren't above you. Make sure of it, this way you won't be killed by spies :)
Nice vid, it really covers some of the weaknesses of the pyro and how to use that to your advantage. However, this is just about killing pyros. I think one of the other main reasons pyros are viewed as a counter to spies is because they can keep you away from key targets, such as a med or demo. Could you make a tutorial about avoiding that?
I like how he says stuff like "do a trickstab against the wall in the air blast, if you don't only blame yourself" and Ike 90% people here don't know how to trickstab (including me)
Ok, now first of all..."why would you want to watch a trickstab video when you don't know how to trickstab" well...that's very stupid....A)I want to learn...that's obvious...and B)Even if I didn't...what's the problem? Can you do crazy rocket jumps? I'm 100% sure the answer is no. And you still watch em And then, I posted this a long time ago, right I can trickstab pretty efficiently...so yeah shut up
hey slurgi im very happy you featured my top comment in your last video and that you explained how we (spies) deal with our archenemy. big thanks for that. good to see that you care for your community. keep up the good work love *no homo niCo7500
When in melee with an axtinguisher pyro this is the facts: Pyro can one hit kill you from every direction, you can one hit kill the pyro only if he turns. If you can land that hit then so can he. Your only advantage is the element of surprise, but if you can predict the pyro then the pyro can predict you.
Most Pyros get too cocky with the axtinguisher, and then there's the swing time that Slurgy talked about. Unless you're being juggled by airblasts, you can only blame yourself for being an easy target.
this time pyros will not insta-kill you quick with the axtinguisher.... volvo/valve nerfed the axtinguisher... it doesnt crit on any directions but it crits on the back... they mini-crit only at the front.... so not anymore :D
Hedning1390 also when i was a sniper(125 hp) there was a pyro trying to burn + axtinguisher me... i didnt die as much as quick... and so i got a quickscope on that pyro.... even though i did another one when i was a spy..he hits me one time tried for a corner.. it worked..
i really would of like to hear your opnion on escaping from pyros as a spy. with the dr, and standaerd watch. sometimes decloaking from the dr and going for a trick stab isn't always in your best intrest, so i wish you covered that. but awesome video. nice music choice :)
well if it's invisible as in IW then just take it off, better chances then having it on. if with dead ringer try to find a corner or when he switches weapon or starts airblasting you, it all comes down to practice
Exactly. I think this is a good tutorial, but he speaks as if Pyros didn't stand a chance against Spies, and the truth is Pyros do have the advantage in close range, provided that both players are on the same level. You can trick a good Pyro once or twice, but that's it.
the thing is when you play against pyros who play in ugc and all and they are really good and can take you down a bit easier they also have more aware teammates who will help him so this can be a bit harder they know a lot of the spys tricks
How about when they don't chase you like zombies, instead they flame+airblast+flare, and if you run away they either ignore it or "off time" their entrance.
Have you played the Jungle Inferno update yet Slurgi? So many people playing pyro to get the new weapons...would love to see a video of you dominating a server full of pyros. Would just generally love to see new videos of you fragging tbh. Missing your swag.
Nice idea, however, its just a matter of disguising as people who should be in that area and using weapons that are relevant to the class, e.g. knife for enemy spy or just changing weapons all the time to feign your actual intentions.
Hey slurgi! Great vid pretty much knew everything and could get all pyros except the airblast one :p so thanks for that. I still recommend a series of 9 vids or more of how to fight each class individually. I think some spies would find that very useful. I want to thank you again for making me an awesome spy -.- I now top every scoreboard and triskstab all the time now :p and make the enemy team go pyro :p -- Shadow Snatcher
I feel the reason that people still have trouble with pyros is because they panic, no matter how cool you try to keep yourself, those hours of learning trick stabbing becomes nothing, unless you are a talented spy, because then you would be confident, I guess, I mean I've trick stabbed pyros about 17 times now? but I watched this video a while back :(
Hey Slurgi if you could explain how to copy movement patterns of classes and blend in better whilst disguising as spy, that would be amazing. I'm able to execute trick stabs decently but they only thing that gets me is not being bale to blend in with rest of the crowd. Cheers!
okay but what about if a pyro knows you do this, and they use their flamethrower or shotgun to chip away at you and still keeping you in the corner. I've come up against some really good pyros and this is what they seem to do.
Can you make a video on you setting up your crosshair? I want to know how to get the stationary circle and what sizes of xhairs you use. I know the color change script but I want to know everything else. Thanks, and keep up the good work c:
At the end of the day you shouldn't try to kill pyros as spy because a counter stays a counter. no matter how good you are, a good pyro will set you on fire for a split second, air blast you once and crit you with his flare while you are still airborne and can't dodge. the only thing you can to is have godlike aim and ambassador headshot him
A tad late there. But anyways you should at least learn to try killing pyros, because 1: Flare guns aren't the best choice for pyros as of now and 2: Most of them don't have good enough aim to instantly hit you (Even if they do most people abuse the dr so hopefully both the dr and the flare gun get changed during next update
Hi, Thanks you for this video. I really like your videos, you makes me a better spy with your tutorials and your FragsMovies, i find the pleasure what i lost when i play spy. Thank you a lot, with your great videos, you make me want to makes Spy videos (Frags). Thank you a lot, without you, i probably could stop playing team fortress. Now, i'm working on my first Spy video :) Have a nice day, and thanks again !
the range advantage that is what I tend to rely on I am not too good at trickstabs but when I have range on a pyro, they are dead as long as I have room behind me because I just keep getting headshots with the ambassador.
None of the pyros I meet are this easy to kill. And no they dont have to be in melee range to damage you because the max. flamethrower range extends FAR beyond standard melee range. We're talking FAR. I was on harvest standing on the roof outside spawn, and a pyro on the GROUND was STILL able to light me on fire.
It would be cool if you could make a video where you show how to get the first backstab with the YER, as well with the Kunai. It's so hard to find someone to easily backstab with the kunai to start off, I always end up dying before I can find an open target to backstab. Thanks.
A video about viewmodel fov, fov and viewmodels essentially? (This is directed to a question that asks you: What viewmodel_fov do you use? And how is fov/viewmodel_fov useful?)
In my opinion it would be nice if you could make a vid which you show how you deal with heavies. Like if they shoot you with mini gun and you try to run away. And when u run he will shoot u till death. So it would be awesome. Btw make some tutorials on good spy stabs!
yeah cause you'll most likely not go 1 vs 1 on pyros if you try to shoot them and lose your disguise that gives the other teammates a chance ( a big one at that ) to kill you
Now after Tough Break, pyros deal significant damage at the edge of their flames, so you have way less time to react before getting incinerated.
+Jin Wei See Toh Tough Break sucks.
It's veeery noticeable...
and dead ringer...
@@clementine492 let's not get started
"there's no reason to fear pyros"
NOT ANYMORE SINCE LAST YEAR
Welcome to jungle inferno
Problem is most pyros now just use their flare. Flame, blast, flare, ded. Pls help
I think revolver is powerful enough to counter that
Have you tried strafing in midair? That, if he misses, usually stops him from trying to flare you and just flame you instead.
;_; The pyros I play with light me on fire and instantly axtinguish me, like within .75 seconds, I'm just a dead body on the floor.
+Xime Now they flare kill.
now they get their whole team on you and keep you in the corner and just sexually abuse you... thanks dad
Doing split second stabs on pyros when they're about to axe me always puts a smile on my face :3
Slurgi is officially my favorite Spy on RUclips, I've learned so many trickstabs from him
Those pesky Pyros giving you trouble? Dr. Enforcicle to the rescue!
There is another thing to note is when a pyro doesn't have his Degreaser out, you can literally do any trick stab on him and sometimes you dodge the air blast ;). I did get this in my sub box, so it's not everyone. Great video, whenever a Pyro ignites me I usually just give up.
wow that stab using the airblast was amazing but yeah i still find it very hard to fight against pyros when using the kunai and more if im invisible
The problem here is that you just can't escape explosives with the invis watch unless you pull off something crazy. One thing i would like to add is not freaking out. You will be a lot more effective if you can remain calm and think straight.
slurgi you're a scholar amongst scholars
wow, you and zeigon probably are the best spyies I have ever seen. Keep up with good toutorials! Also, now I am dying less to pyros.

1 - What is psychology &
2 - How to use psychology to your advantage

Wow you videos are the most helpful tutorials I have seen. Do blind stab!

But anyways you should at least learn to try killing pyros, because 1: Flare guns aren't the best choice for pyros as of now and 2: Most of them don't have good enough aim to instantly hit you
(Even if they do most people abuse the dr so hopefully both the dr and the flare gun get changed during next update
Now, i'm working on my first Spy video :)
Have a nice day, and thanks again !
thanks alot slurgi, ive been alot more offensive against pyros and been trickstabbing them alot easier. thanks
I thought Pyros and spies both run at the same speed, unless the spy is backpeddling, then your running slower
Why your spy is always holding The dead ringer is a mod? It looks very cool
yeah sometimes but i normally use dr and i still think it's hard to get the timing right to do the matador when decloacking
the range advantage that is what I tend to rely on I am not too good at trickstabs but when I have range on a pyro, they are dead as long as I have room behind me because I just keep getting headshots with the ambassador.
Hey Slurgi, big Fan and great videos! But was just wondering, what script do you use for your crosshair?
None of the pyros I meet are this easy to kill. And no they dont have to be in melee range to damage you because the max. flamethrower range extends FAR beyond standard melee range. We're talking FAR. I was on harvest standing on the roof outside spawn, and a pyro on the GROUND was STILL able to light me on fire.
what about pyros using the all famous windmill technique..
I, love, you.
Nice videos Slurgi! Can I ask you out for another video-tutorial in which you show how to add spy scripts you use? It would be awesome :D
Next , we want blindstab tutorial :D
It would be cool if you could make a video where you show how to get the first backstab with the YER, as well with the Kunai. It's so hard to find someone to easily backstab with the kunai to start off, I always end up dying before I can find an open target to backstab.
Thanks.
Slurgi would win obviously
A video about viewmodel fov, fov and viewmodels essentially? (This is directed to a question that asks you: What viewmodel_fov do you use? And how is fov/viewmodel_fov useful?)
In my opinion it would be nice if you could make a vid which you show how you deal with heavies. Like if they shoot you with mini gun and you try to run away. And when u run he will shoot u till death. So it would be awesome. Btw make some tutorials on good spy stabs!
yeah cause you'll most likely not go 1 vs 1 on pyros
if you try to shoot them and lose your disguise that gives the other teammates a chance ( a big one at that ) to kill you
As a Pyro , Spies are favorite my targets. Just burn them and they can only run. Keep your distance though.
