To make people play cs2
i think the reason why they released it early is cuz stuff would need to be fixed and changed and updated anyways upon cs2's release, so it prob seemed easier to work on integrating community servers to cs2 once theyve released the finished product and can make live changes to it and can see their effect, like how you wouldnt program an entire website from just a terminal, u'd wanna be able to see it and make real time adjustments like troubleshooting it, thats what the betas for, for them to see it in action, but well integrated community servers was something they prob left for last since it wasnt gonna be in the beta and itd require using and merging with the csgo servers, so they wanted to finish putting it in only once they released cs2 in its final state, then patch it up to fix and add some stuff. and since cs2 aims to be a new and improved csgo, replacing csgo with it is hardly any different than whenever theyve made a huge update to csgo like to the graphics and stuff. and replacing csgo with cs2 seems most ideal tbh, theyre too similar thatd itd risk splitting the community up and halving the amount of players within each game, its not like source, keeping source alive makes sense cuz its so different and has its own appeals with being pretty old and its played in a different. ntm anyone who has alot of money in csgo skins would basically lose all that money from it devaluing becuz cs2 becomes a bigger game than csgo, whereas this way with csgo becoming cs2 everything transfers over
I feel like they plan to add some community creations as official alternative fun game modes.
Surf and Kz are the first to mind. Integrating Aimbotz and Recoil master with polish into a training mode which you can wait in while queuing for matches also makes a lot of sense.
I'd personally also love if they some co-op pve missions like hostage rescue. Also, a revamped danger zone with bigger maps designed to take full advantage of the games unique movement mechanics would also be amazing.
I doubt most of these will ever really end up happening but I'll be the happiest man in the planet if it does.
I was so excited to see CS2 release. My gaming group having no real game. Setup a server with alot of pain just to find out that custom maps don't get transferred automatically. Such a shame. The community servers and content is what makes CS fun for me

I'm so grateful for this video, as I was running out of options. I tried playing CSS, but couldn't get used to it. Momentum mod was the closest to feeling like csgo, but the lack of maps, and solo lobbies made the gameplay very boring

This launch was so disappointing. I hate how the game feels and they outright ignored way too many features that many people use
While I agree I also disagree. They ignored things that didn't need to be in the game just yet it's pretty much that simple. The game is beta and will be for well over a year just like everyother CS really people want quick fixes but like why would you want a 5 minute crack fix and not a fully developed game that takes time and dedication? Mad weird these days.

so is community server support coming to cs2 at some point? it seemed like such a stupid question that i didn't even think it needed to be asked. i figured they would just be here on launch, at least in some capacity. we also desperately need workshop maps in cs2

Can’t thank you enough after auto updating to cs2 I can no longer surf and I was not happy with it. I’ve never shot a single soul on Csgo all I have ever done is surf which is the only reason I downloaded Csgo in the first place

you can switch at anytime, and switch back. many top players try multiple servers and hop between

Once you have counter-strike: source, just google "ksf surf servers" and click the first link for IPs. Theres no longer a CSGO KSF server but that was gone months ago

Community servers will come later, theres literally a option called Community servers in the play UI, it's a small globle icon on top, For now it only opens the steam built in server browser but it the in game one will obviously come later, they don't have the sdk for nothing.

while times will probably be wiped for CS2, CSGO could still remain up as a game! no one truly knows :(
In snksrv at least, theyre still working on getting the times and timer to come over to cs2. Seems like they arent able to just yet

yeah hope they fix this cause i just tried playing some cs surf maps cause i wanna see if it makes a difference in cs 2 like graphics wise and i was disappointed when it says fail to go to their servers im like ..... really cs surfing is so fun.

Because of cs2, does this mean maps are going to have to be redone from the ground up? Or can they directly port over with upgraded graphics. If so that is so stupid, imagine all maps that havent been updated since 2016 ish era
i believe maps can be ported but they take time, new textures and assets need to be added in manually. And we're currently having a problem packing maps (and sending them to players as they load in)

you just open the map in hammer 2 and update the assets that need replacing, 30 minute job
I ported my csgo aim map to cs2 and nearly all the models and textures were broken so I had to put new ones manually

no just once! Once you have it downloaded you can switch between the two

@@Repster It's such a bummer the game wasn't released with a working community browser section. I hope they get cracking on this as surf was such a huge part of the custom modding scene for GO. Hope it's solved sooner than later and doesn't impact your channel too hard. This is a rough time for us custom players.
I care more about custom game modes.Driving cars etc. mods that we could play on older cs games like cs source.Also some good zombies mods too etc.

Im a comp sweat and a community server enjoyer (surf bhop kz) and it really seems like they said fuck you to the community server hosters and owners with this cs2 launch. I was very surprised when they released cs2 officially and they did not release it as a finished game. Sure, csgo had issues on release but this isnt supposed to be a new game, its supposedly the "version 2" of csgo. Why would you release a version 2 that is functionally worse than version 1

Just started to surf on CSS but the game doesnt work so well. Random stutters appear and ruin runs. There must be some settings/configs that fixes this problem?

This didn't work for me. The update happened but when launching the game it loaded CS2 still. It's set for the CSGO_DEMO_VIEWER. What am I doing wrong?
You're not alone, someone in my discord said the same thing. Only things i can think of are 1. make sure you have the beta selected in properties (and not just downloaded) 2. verify integrity of game files. 3. restart steam. 4. re-install cs2.

I doubt it, a lot of CS streamers love surfing so when the community browser makes its return and surf comes back it will probably get a lot of fanfare and boost the community back up. It will decline for right now but it will be back.

Sounds like a lot of effort to play these community servers aswell as it already being kinda a niche part of the game. They’ve been left out to dry completely and over looked. I won’t be playing much cs2

community servers are screwed up right now after the release of the csgo_legacy branch and removal of the csgo_demo_viewer branch, not sure if this is intentional on Valve’s part or not.
