- "Night Fever" is a disco song, written and performed by the Bee Gees. Recorded April 1977 in Château d'Hérouville, France and 1977 September Criteria Studios, Miami, Florida, United States. Released 7 February 1978. It first appeared on the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever. Producer Robert Stigwood wanted to call the film Saturday Night, but singer Robin Gibb expressed hesitation at the title. Stigwood liked the title Night Fever, but was wary of marketing a movie with that name. He combined the two suggestions and the idea for Saturday Night Fever as a motion picture was born. Starring: Tony Manero (John Travolta), Stephanie Mangano (Karen Lynn Gorney), Anette (Donna Pescow), Double J (Paul Pape). "Night Fever" remained the number one Billboard Hot 100 single for over two months in 1978. It also replaced Andy Gibb's "Love Is Thicker Than Water" at number one, and was in turn replaced by Yvonne Elliman's "If I Can't Have You" all of which were written and produced by the Gibb brothers. In addition to Saturday Night Fever, the song has also appeared in the movie and on the soundtrack for Mystery Men. The song lists at number 33 on Billboard's All Time Top 100.
I'm nearly 60 now, and still love this song, the 70's may be gone but disco will never fade
Up until 2 years ago, I ran" DISCO CAROLINE the original 70's travelling discotheque, now I am semi retired I am embarking on a project to convert a building into a replica of a 70's nightclub, complete with Saturday Night Fever illuminated dancefloor, so my family and grandkids can relive the memories of the great music and atmosphere that I grew up with and loved. For me the 70's will never fade away
Big disco guy!! Much respect!
Hell disco forever I’m a 14 yr old that very much enjoys disco and the 70s era
I'm 67 years old and I never forget Disco. Disco is never die
Wish there was dancing like this today. Everyone just having a good time, dancing the night away!
Before AIDS, 9/11, & Covid. Back then was really the golden years❣🎆💃🏽
And before knowing how evil Scientology is.
@@CaroAbebe agree
Absolutely
I always found the Disco being called 2001 and the shots of wtc 1 and 2 very prophetic😮
This was the BEST time to be young! I am so grateful that I grew up through the 70’ and 80’s. I simply would not trade it. It was an amazing time to be alive.
Totally agree.

@@marilynmanord1790 Ain’t that the truth 🥰
People born in the 50s, 60s and early 70s were so lucky. Born any later and as a youth and 20+ year old, you were fed manufactured pop, endless soap stars turned ‘singers’, internet and mobile phone dependency, and drip-fed a diet of box-sets, indoor entertainment and loneliness. People had less then but lived so much more.
Not sure they had less (especially those born in the 50s - at that time only one wage was needed to buy a house and support a family: this was how the average family lived). Now, millenals and younger, are lucky if they will ever be able to buy a home and it generally will take two incomes. But you are right about the music.
💯! Sad how things have changed...for the worse ..
Yes, we 're the lucky ones: born and grew up in the era of the best in music .🎸🎹🥁💃🏻🕺💖
The 69s and 79s was great
Born in 79 and I feel so privileged to have grown up in the 80s but The Bee Gees and this movie were part of it too.
Now I see why my parents and everyone back then were in such great shape, cause they literally danced the nights away.
That's awesome observation
We really were in great shape then
I never thought about it like that but we danced all the time
So true!! 🙂🙃😊
@ the GA on Dirksen Pkwy in Springfield, IL
Yes we did...
Every night!
We had style, we danced, we partied the nights away ! We all had great times these were the times of our youth. I feel so blessed living back then.
The costume designer should have got an Oscar. The whole ensemble is incredibly elegant in this scene, and all the other disco scenes as well.
One of the best movie soundtracks ever. Sad that only one member of the Bee Gees is still alive. Long live the 70's.... A wonderful time in America...
From grease to Saturday night fever and from pulp fiction to hairspray. John Travolta is one of the most versatile actors of Hollywood
I lived all but a few months of my teenage years in the 70's. Don't let anyone tell you any different, they were the best of times. I look at young kids today and truly feel sorry for them. I feel so lucky.
Yep! I'm a 90's kid and I almost wish I was born 20-30 years earlier!
I wonder if Gen X is the first generation to look at the kids and say "thank God I'm not young". We have to be.
The BEST Days of My LIFE!! There just will NEVER be no time like the 70's, 80's, or 90's!! I am just SO THANKFUL that GOD chose me to grow up and experience those years!! It was like a WHOLE DIFFERENT WORLD🌍!! THANK YOU GOD!!
I know what you mean. Life just seemed easy and good, even when it was bad, it was never really bad
I wish I could go to sleep tonight and wake up in the 70's tomorrow 😕
Yes!!!!
C'etait super cette époque, à tous les niveaux !
Same
😭Me all the time
Actually, you don't want to wake up in the 70's: it was a rough period chock-a-block with uncertainty, high inflation, gas prices, and rising unemployment. New York was having a sanitation strike, the mob was in full force, and not everyone looked good in the clothing.
The best soundtrack off all time. The Bee Gees went far and beyond with these songs.
Yup
I’m from 90s but we can tell why 70s was pure gold days
Such a beautiful time period. Nothing today has will ever compare to this.
Watch the rest of the movie lol it gets dark
2:00
I love how this dance was showed. They don't look like a bunch of professionals, they look like people after working day. Their movements are not perfectly synchronized and each of them have a little difference
Yeah Agreed
I would instantly dump my smartphone forever (and any other device not existing back then) if I'd be able to experience this decade!
I experienced it and miss it.
I didn't realize how great it was until recently. Miss life before the internet.
I could watch this movie every day and never tire of it. Some of the best music and dancing ever!!! I was 20 when this premiered....those were the days. I’m 64 now and this music still stirs my soul.😊😊👍👍
Me too Katie. X
It was an era of fun, fashion, lights, music, dance...just overall joy and happiness
This movie has the entire feel of 1977 NYC. i remember the line dancing in long island and Queens night clubs. This is how it was. Innocent dancing and feeling the music/energy after a long work week
Thank you for this video
Thank you!
Every weekend Friday 10 pm and Saturday. I lived in Forest Hills, went to Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens clubs. I was born in Queens LOL
@@micheler4120 did you go to Lemon Tree on austin st?
@@debraenglander9317 Yes. Among others :) Do we know each other?
I was 12 years old and listing to Heavy Metal bands and hated the Bee Gees - 59 1/2 year old now and I love the Bee Gees now - Nostalgia is a thing! 70's and 80's were the best - I did learn women love men that dance. That is the truth
John Travolta is already a legend because this film.
Disco is not dead, disco will live forever.
And it still does at Bob Pantanos Dance Party in New Jersey. Forty years and Bob is still spinning the Disco!
I bet if disco’s were brought back, people would go. Bring the disco back!!
YESSSSS!!!!!! I was just thinking the same thing! So much fun!!
Also, hope social media is put out of commission lol....
70s best years ever for the MUSIC. Thanks for thee memories.
If I could time travel the 70s would be my first stop.
same here. Get me out of this era
I’m 18 and I gotta say y’all who lived in this time got it good. At homecoming and other dances, the girls are just grinding even on other girls. I wish my dances would be like this. My mother loves this kind of music (and Stevie Nicks, who doesn’t?) and she gets so happy when I play this kind of stuff. She’s 58 and has back problems and even then she got up and groovin😂
So glad I was born in 1964. Experienced 2 great decades - 70s and 80s.
I love movies that can capture the essence and feeling of a particular era. This is one of those.
Omg,those Disco days put me in a Time Machine and take me back glad I was there ❤
Best time to be alive was the 70's!! I miss the music, and my youth.
I think you miss your youth more than the 70s as we all do...
Shooow Bee Gees
*The fact that my grandparents met each other in the 70s at least there was actually great music ,classic clothing and everyone had party’s makes me wish I grew up during that decade*
The girl's dresses, knee length, flowed so beautifully as they danced.
pixiepancake Yes! I'm 63 now but lived and partied back then. To me, the weekend was a release of the blue collar work week. Dress up, dance and have fun!
I wish the world could be like this again. This is one of my favorite movies ..it saddens me how far away from this the world is😢
It can!! Let's bring it back!
@@gmcirish1766 Yesssss!!! Let's gooooo💯🔥💞
Verdade
There’s lots of people who feel the same! Find them, go to a disco club, and live your best life ❤
Life was great back then it wasn't about money it was about pride about what you did for yourself
if you has not livining those years, you can't imagine what has been "Saturday night fever" for my generation..
Wow, the 1960s and 70s was a great time to be young and alive. Now that my 75th birthday is fast approaching, looking back to my days of Disco Line Dancing... those days went in and out of my life, far to fast. I loved this song back then and still enjoy the song today.
I was 16 when this came out and it was the highlight of the disco when it came on. 70s was the best!
This has to be the only Night Fever dance tutorial with the most credibility around today. They are the only ones who did it right.
This movie hasn’t aged one single second, watching it in 2020 still blows your mind! Flawless cult world changing genius! X
A classic clip that will never age
Amazing choreography!! Almost 45 years ago this movie was so meaningful for that generation of young people and I'm sure it's still likable to this day. Personally I'd love to be part of something so magical.
This song is over 40 years old and it still sounds good as it did before.
Not only a movie...an era...a way of life...the best part of my life!
I worked in a disco. It was wild. It was a way of life.
This is the ultimate 70s movie.
Thanks thepa 1
The 70s were such a fun time! Great music and great times! I was 18 in 1975, saw disco, great r&b, great rock. Damn! I'm almost 61, where has the time gone?
Christy Shumate had to be something 🎶🎶❤️❤️
Same here. !!!!
This is exactly how the clubs were back in the 1970's. Everyone joined into the dance routine. Great time👍
I was 19 when this came out. I had the clothes, the hair, the moves....happy days.
I love how chicks dressed up then, so classy and relaxed.
I won even a disco dancing contest once!💃
I love the quality of film and movie cameras from this time period. It gave movies a rich and colorful appearance.
The late 70's and 80's was certainly the best era for music, lime ( parties ) safety and girls !!! Wish I could back :)
This film was and is so iconic especially for that time period.
I am so thankful I lived and danced in this era❤️❤️❤️❤️ The line dance was my favorite part of the movie!! John Travolta was at his best in this scene! CLASSIC
The good old days⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was 18 years old in 1977. Seems like it was only yesterday! 😍
Maria Sharp pachuco
I was one year younger, I was 17 in '77! Great times!
Maria Sharp i too mary .
we are in the same age .....i really miss this beautiful times
Bee Gees ruled with the debut of this movie.. Of the top 10 songs in 1978 five were Bee Gees.
42 years later, these dance moves are still done on dance floors throughout the world.
This had to be the absolutely greatest combination of all time: Disco, John Travolta and the Bee Gees. MAGNIFICO !!!
Very much of its time - and yet timeless. Wish I had been able to dance like JT when I was 17..
21 years old listening to this religiously thanks to my parents
Won’t let this music die ❤️❤️❤️
Oh when were young! Those were the days...
I really miss this Disco nightclub atmosphere and dancing ! Love the Bee Gees. xx
From Brooklyn, large family get together after this movie came out, one cousin was a disco instructor, had most of the family doing this exact dance. I was a kid at the time but this movie brings me back.
I am from a small town in the Netherlands, called Enschede, our dance instructor also taught us this dance, the whole town knew it. Good times.
Oh that's amazing!
@@drbvo9578Oh wow, that is lovely!! 🇺🇲💙🇳🇱
It was the best time ever ❤❤❤❤
I was 25 when this came out and it’s still probably the best song out there. Hearing it takes me back to good times!!!!
Back in the late 1970s I was a young kid who was discovering music and took to Aerosmith, Van Halen, Led Zep- and dispised all disco music. But for years now I've come to appreciate the music, and absolutely LOVE this soundtrack and the BeeGees songs in particular. This song and scene from the movie is pure magic.
the cinematography is outrageously well done
These are cherished moments of our lives that will never come again.
So true.❤
Life sucks today 😔 I feel like we are living in the future they showed in The Terminator.
The 70s: Disco. Leisure suits. Polyester pants. Bell bottom jeans. Silk shirts. Platform shoes. The Bee Gees. Barry Manilow. Elton John. Abba. Those iconic images of Travolta on the dance floor. All those short years ago. Sigh.... The world was young.
Wish these days would comeback the world was a better place then
Oh yeah before social media 😉
it was a much simpler time back then
Those were some of the best years to be alive. Glad I was there.
I'd love to go to a disco like that these days with the atmosphere, the smoke machine, the music and the lights in the floor
"Odyssey 2001" still existed in 2003. Perhaps it's still open, if the Covid-19 pandemic hasn't devastated it. It can be looked up on the internet.
As a teenager growing up in the 2020's, I love this song more than all of the new music. Amazing, good music will never die. 10/10 . Thank you Barry, Robin and Maurice
Love these memories! I wish I could go back!
My favorite scene of this movie! I was too little to go to the clubs so I practiced the dance moves with a girl friend of mine. OMG she had two older sisters that I was in love with! This scene brings back so many good childhood memories!
I have PTSD, am finding out that music is the ABSOLUTE BEST therapy, and this particular song is a fun/ feel good song, no worries when MY music is plugged into my head!!
I wish that all the disco night clubs were like this now days to be honest
Everyone is too judgmental nowadays
Yep, that's right. We danced the night away. Great time's indeed. 🥰
I was in high school when this was new. So much fun to dance to. 70s were the best.
The bit where the guy slides in to the dance and they just intuitively make space for him. So cool lol
DOUBLE J after his back seat adventure, lol!
@scruffy6911 Yes, I know what you mean.
Simpler times... no cell phone, no internet & no pagers. You actually went out at night with friends and had a good time.
Can't beat the 70's the world was a much better place every Friday and Saturday at the local disco was absolutely awesome wish i could go back in time wonderful times
I need to ask you something, Disco music dance club was for everyone back in those days?
I tend to think If I had been born in that era, I would have liked to dance disco music because I find it wonderful, but today I feel I don't fit in any music club of modern music for dance, actually I have never danced in my life no well looking guy here, It is just my appreciation or Was Disco music only for normal people who like to dance like as actual nowadays normal people dancers who go to clubs on Fridays or Saturdays?
Over time, it is already more than forty years old. I miss those times.
I love the way Donna Pescow muscled her way into the line beside Travolta at 1:50.
June 2024 and still amazing to watch....great film and soundtrack!
This video really captures the magic of those long ago disco nights!
Watching this as a 19 year old almost a year into pandemic hits different in a raging jealousy type way
I am in the exact same boat lmaooo
Disco is the best and I wish people did it more like back in the 70s. I am 48 and love dancing, it is the spice of life and it really does keep you young, healthy and in shape! But us older folks just don’t dance like we should. Just look at the folks there in SNF, they are all thin and look great.
Back when there were no cellphones and everyone was into the music.
This is exactly what I want Heaven to be when I die.
Travolta was the coolest man on the planet. No B&H's out there fellas, and still jammin while lookin good.
Year 70' and 80' is the best era of my life...I miss dance floor....hhaisst...!!
Good memories, elegantly dressed and rhythmically danced. Those were the days!
The best movie! The best songs! The best singers! The best actors! The best clothes! The best lifestyle! The best people! The best of times! So glad to have been a part of it!
Dance in the Blue Light. No one can destroy fun and true passion. Thank you, John Travolta, you really sent a bright message!! Peace and love.. Michael An'gileo
Oh, the Bee Gees, Night Fever, the disco. Takes me right back to the 70s when me and my mates would go to the local disco, pissed up, and dance the night away. Absolutely fabulous - an era in pop music that, for me, was/is the greatest ever! "Night fever, night fever. We know how to do it. Gimme that night fever, night fever. We know how to show it."
I love the 70's! I was born in 1977 but with I was born earlier to have experienced it
Boy did we dance those days!! Great, great times! 🤗😍❤️
Just makes you want to get up and dance!! Best iconic dance movie ever!!
A mí me encanta también está película que aparte de tratar de baile tiene un inteligente argumento
What a fabulous song and scene!!
Was on a cruise before the lockdown we did this dance 💃 it was so much fun happy to have learned this from watching YT
The keyboards really make this song feel like you are so happy. It hits you right in the soul and brings out the best in you. What a special time 1977 was. I was very young but, as a kid the 70's were a great time.
i wasn't even born yet! but ooh how i wish i coulda live on the 70's!
