As part of the aphex cult, aphex is more like an eclectic mix of all music, so he never follows a genre, 1 or 2 tracks might be influenced by one genre. The only track that's anything like this by aphex is girl/boy song, and even then, it's much more condensed than this. So anyone thinking this is am imitation, go listen to some more afx.
I feel as though whenever people listen to a song that contains drills, breaks, or idm, they just try to assume that the artist is trying to be a afx or venetian snares copycat when it's obvious that they are not. I've listened to plenty of artists that produce drill n bass, breakcore, and idm, and each and everyone of them have a fairly different style from one another. tl;dr I agree with you
dude is really talented but what with the AFX cult, beyond me understanding why imitation can bring anything worthwhile on the long term. Anyway still quality music.
I do appreciate the intro but the beats ruin it for me. I've made tunes with the broken breakbeat sound but ableton has ruined it for me. They're might have developed a syntax for the cuts and slurs and repeats in this new genre but unfortunately 16th notes are a deal to fast for the average listener and Ableton was able to make a bunch of emulators for the same sounds. The end result is loads of tracks that sound on the face of it similar to AFX but lack any musical input whatsoever relegating those things as at best rhythmic fills. Technology defeating musical creativity. The road ahead is broken. Any new sound could be co-opted by AI and emulated without any understanding of what the sound was supposed to about. Let's step back and talk about music and regroup. Live Musicians cannot be replaced my AI yet. It's entirely likely sometime soon an AI could listen to every No1 and produce an amalgam of those hits that is an instant hit. This process could potentially have no end. As the AI learns the changing appetites of the populace it could manufacture a new song every few weeks. We're kinda fucked as a class of human. Human Music is dead. Perhaps Live music will be the thing? Luv and Peace.
