The Larsons are just loaded with valuable information these days. Chet with all his product improvements and Doug with great insight into proper towing technique. Just love his laconic speaking style that gets right to the key points without excess verbiage. It’s the rare video that I come away from without learning something new.
Good thing you guys are explaining about chains and pulling safety. I found myself explaining that to somebody that knew but "all caught up" in the moment and I had to say about stepping out of the "Bite" , we were pulling with 1/2 cable and a steel pulley that was OK but not the best. It all went OK. But the main part of my story is back in 1974. I was cutting wood. I had my home-built wagon parked in a neighbors back yard. The ground was kinda soft when the wagon was parked. Now the ground was frozen solid...around the front wheels. I put the tire chains on my 1939 JDB and hooked up my biggest-best chain (some of that chain was blacksmith-made), I gave a gentle pull...nothin, backed up a few feet and gave a good tug with that tractor. That chain broke back by the wagon hitch..... flew straight and level a few inches off the frozen driveway ground, pulled tight on the tractor clevis, and settled onto the ground. WOW..., chains do carry alot of energy. I bolted my chain back together and pulled separate front wheels. The axles were from an old threshing machine and they were rugged. I could pull each wheel separately. I got that load loose and delivered. Yea... these young guys need to respect pulling chains. Keeep it Movin !!!!
Chet, thank you for looking at the flag and saying America right at the end of the video. I never was really patriotic until this year. So when I see respect to the flag please know it's appreciated!
I’m Canadian and agree with all of the patriotic sentiments in this video. At times we are devoid of a patriotic nationalist vision up here. I admire your willingness to show your flag with pride.
I agree, Thank you Chet, and for everyone else. America is the greatest nation on earth, not because we are better people than anyone else but rather because America is the beacon for freedom for the rest of the world to follow our lead, thus and in the end make the whole world better for all people. We are currently in some fairly tumultuous times but this too will pass fairly soon. But it's important to know and to remember, It is "We The People" not "We The Government"
Chet, Dougo, the way to use a yank em rope is to leave some slack in the rope, the towing vehicle then starts moving and when the rope tightens the energy is transferred to the stuck vehicle without causing any hard shock to either vehicle, there is less chance of damage and the towing vehicle has the momentum built up to recover without getting stuck also.
Thank you Dougo for sharing your wisdom and how not to pull things out. Also Doudo thanks for showing the two parts of your trucks that got pulled off and damaged by chains. Chet you need to patin all your ideas so you can make your fortune. Great video Larson farms
Thats a great reminder for everyone who you ever employ. Chains are great ear whistlers and head removers just as belts on heads are great arm removes and header fronts are great protein rich dog food grinders.
You got that right Dougo, at work we no longer pull our trucks out with chains. Did it for years, but a busted up hood, grill, new radiator.........you know what I'm saying, lots and lots of money just to save a $200 tow bill, not worth it.
With all them Billy big rig trucks and drivers surly you must be familiar with the Road Pro truck driver 12 volt oven for cooking/ reheating food in the cab....They work really good.
That new ripper must be named: Jack The Ripper! Awesome machine for sure! Another great video from Larson Farms in the Hood and their LF Hoodies. And now, great life lessons from Dougo - who needs his own RUclips channel as well.
Had a couple instances with stuck trucks and chains. Thankful that there were no injuries. A chain went through the back window of a 379 Peterbilt the other one got the grill and hood just like yours. Thanks Larson farms👍🇺🇸
Dougo- I work driving concrete trucks and we put a hole in the lower edge of our mud flaps and than replace one mud flap bolt with a hook. Before we back into muddy jobsites we bend flaps in half and hook them up. Almost impossible to back over them that way.
Super video again. Lots of good variety. Those ropes you are using are just outstanding. Appears much better than a chain. Chains can be dangerous. Thanks for showing you using the rope. Lot of strength there it appears. You all have been doing good with combines last few days. Always some break downs to deal with. Thanks again for good video. Thanks to Nicki for editing. You all take care. Thanks. Iowa farm boy from years ago.
Way back in the early '70's there was this stump dump place. When land was cleared this place would accept stumps logs dirt, whatever was in the truck. The place was famous for ripping the front end off the trucks that got stuck either full or empty. The dozer operator had this talent for pulling at just the wrong time. He would hook up with a 1" wire rope choker and when the truck tried to start in it's rut in the soft ground which was 8-10 inches deep. You could see the truck start to climb out and the truck driver would push in the clutch and as the truck fell back into the rut the dozer would pull and the weight of the truck going backwards would yank the front bumper and sometimes some frame would get yanked right off the truck. The truck drivers would think it was their fault right up too the second time they got stuck and got their brand new front end yanked off a second time.
🇺🇸 let freedom fly! Doug I'm sold. Just ordered a yankum "larsonfarm" . I have broken chains but with under 100 hp pullers, I have been lucky.🔗 Chet if you need a invention, how about pullout tray to set your lunch on, a real 747 doesn't even have that. Go team
I’m over here now looking at rfd tv watching weather in your neck of the woods and concerned. I’m in south Louisiana. I feel like I’m apart of Larson farms. Love the channel. Me and my little boy are about to be sporting the Larson farms pull overs
Hey guys I'm a new subscriber I was watching an older video from this summer and you had a flat tire on your water trailer. Chet you were tightening the nuts and you must of run out of air. You said I wish we had a bigger air compressor. On our farm we put a second tank without a compressor next to our air compressor and hooked them together for more air volume that makes such a huge difference for taking nuts off of truck tires or any tire for that matter you can go a lot longer without running out of air. Just wanted to share, it works great. I farm about 3.5 hours straight north of you guys. Love your channel.
"Never back with a loaded truck, or you may be parted from your mudflaps" From one Douglas to another I've been down that road with a pickup... Twice! First time backed the Dually into a hole just right that it ripped the driver side flap off. Sometime later did the same thing in a parking lot by backing up into a space and the curb pushed the flap up against the duals and ripped it right off. That was also the driver side flap.
@@chippycarpentry I think they do very good at the no politics etc on this channel. I'm not American or live in America so saluting the flag is not something I would even think about doing. I nearly stopped when I seen a Trump flag but it was just in the shot, no one mentioned it and they do keep to business/have fun which is why I do still watch. Plus no way am I missing Dougo and his wonderful words of wisdom and hilarity.
Are you looking to sell the dislodged bumper? Looks like it may fit our kw truck..... Congrats on a safe and successful harvest. Enjoy winter.....looks like it is going to be starting early.
Thank you for the tips Doug. When when you're working with the weight you guys are always working with, heavy, large machines, with a great deal of power, I'm thinking that maybe a rope would be the only way to go. I'll pick up a yankem rope.
Chet - you dont need a light bar to tell you where to load the cart. Instead they should add a big auger in the top of the cart that has flights screwing it in both directions away from middle. Kind of like the auger you have in the old bean header but going backwards, have it hydraulically pulled - possibly activated by the load sensors that anyway tells the cart operator to load it a bit more in front, or in the back. Then the combine driver and graincart driver would only really have to worry about keeping the cart and the combines unloading auger right smack in the middle all the time. Less to worry about if you put inexperienced people on either combine or cart...
Great videos Larsons!!! Have always enjoyed all of your posts! Very informative and educational all while being entertaining and very funny!! Excellent editing and presentation also!! You are a very talented group. Keep up all the great work, content, and editing with all of your videos!! Congratulations on a successful 2020!!!
If you use a chain or cable, place a blanket over as much as you can and if it breaks, the cable will just fall to the ground and not whip. Chet to cook, use the heater of if you shut down you can put food in tin foil and place in exhaust manifold. Works great!!
I only saw the aftermath, but I saw a cable cut straight through the A pillar on a Chevy pickup when the winch cable snapped and there was no blanket on the cable. He survived, but it wasn't pretty.
Big sweed , wasn't overloaded. It still had room for 50 bushels. He shouldn't have been stuck. I don't know how you do it Dougo, keeping track of your children ( lol ) looks hectic 🤣. Great video and editing Nicki Merica🇺🇲
When changing those chopping blades with that header in the air .I hope you have a safety things for that header to keep it from falling .I lost a friend when working under the header the hydraulic failed and crushed him
Put these in your combine to heat your food, Koolatron LBS-01 Black 12 Volt Lunch Box Stove. On amazon 35.00 bucks, Erin Holbert is another youtuber and she uses iy in her combine all the time.

When using a chain, put a jacket or shirt in the middle of the chain. If it snaps the chain will pile into the shirt. Old beet farmer trick.
