Also BA become more touchy to the darkside of "school" life. Extreme bullying, backstabbing friend, suicide ideation, and many topics that some Sensei can relate at their point of life. Some relate to Mika as bullied students before, some relate to Yuzu as introverted and lack of friend, some relate Hifumi that just wants happy life, heck even some can relate as Arius Squad that has been indoctrinated and lied their whole life.

*A long comment to answer some questions you asked and my rambling thoughts:*
An example of a game lacking in soul for me would be the Love Live franchise _(disclaimer, I'm a big LL fan)_ . Granted, it can feel like that for many idol themed franchises where things are usually kept upbeat and minimal.
Playing Blue Archive and engrossing myself in the story and characters made me realize how shallow characters from other franchises can be, and I'm not saying that BA is perfect, but it was the game that brought that thought into my mind.
The music is amazing. Honestly a benchmark for me. I love it so much that I'm buying the OSTs and downloading songs that I come across and enjoy. You know it's good when the soft and heartwarming songs are just as emotional and hard hitting as their hype songs. I love the timing and song choices in the background of whatever is going on too. Does so well at setting the mood.
I did enjoy this video format (I like video essays) and this is my first video that I've seen from you. I appreciate the content.

I'm a day1 JP player and also played for like 2-3 months but I cant read the story and the gameplay isnt for me so I quit but I played it again when Global launch and decided to read the story(My 1st time actually reading a gacha game story). Ever since then I fell in love with this game. The Story, Characters, Interactions, Art & Music has so much love put into it. Even the characters I thought were not Visually cute were actually VERY Interesting and funny once you read their story. Thats when I realized the true way of enjoying a Game.
If you feel like playing the game is a chore like you play for the sake of farming Gacha currency and fomo and not even reading the story/enjoying the gameplay then you should actually just stop because that's the worst way to play. (Me with Genshin. skipping the story and just doing dailies farming primos for Gacha even If I HATED it. Might as well drop the game and work IRL at least it would be more productive)
Im that type of gacha player where I skip the story and just play the game for the gameplay and gacha but BA changed my views on enjoying a game.
Tldr: Blue Archive is the best game ever lmao. Play to relieve stress by enjoying the story and the world and not give in to fomo(but some enjoy the competitive side but its a gacha and being competitive in gacha is only for whales. I suggest playing games based on skills like fromsoft games/ FPS/moba if youre competitive)

Maybe this game can help you get over your FOMO a bit? If you can pick this back up, appreciate what you have in it already, and know that you'll get most of it back as stuff re-runs, then it helps you to see how much of your profile is unique compared to other players. I try to do this with all of my games in the past two years; I tend to be a completionist as well, and it was really brutal playing a bunch of otherwise fun games, and then not "completing" them all. But like all media and goals in your life, it's not about the destination and prizes, it's about the journey.

Lately I've been feeling like BA has become A LOT more busy. Before we used to have one week raid, one week off. Then JFD came along and now we sometimes alternate raid week and JFD week. Then add events on top. And now constantly having to do pvp with the reworked dailies. But despite all that I still think its one of the lowest time investment gacha games that I've played. And if you play as just a casual and not a min/maxer then you really don't have to spend a lot of time on it. Also its still very generous with its premium currency.
I wouldn't worry about all the banners you missed. You'll get spooked eventually. One of the nice things is that although power creep exists, the scale of it is much, much smaller than you would find in other games. Many, many farmable units that are viable. Sure you won't be ranking in the top 100 or 1000 even, but you can still do pretty well.
BA is the most "soulful" gacha game from a combination of good story, cute characters, great designs, devs that understand their audience, and a relatively non predatory monetization system.

When I walk away from a game, I generally may revisit it later. However, I find that after a while, I end up finding justification as to why I quit playing it in the first place. Many of those games bring back the nostalgia, but it seldom lasts. I'll then "retire" myself from those games, never going back. There's always a new title right around the corner that I'm looking forward to for entertainment.

God I relate to this so badly
Before the game even came out I was in awe of it, everything from the music to just the overall vibe, it was like the game I had always dreamed of playing. I remember launch day (JP) where we were all waiting an extra 4 hours because so many people tried to get in. Unfortunately though my devices couldn't run the game properly and due to that frustration I kind of left the game for a long while. However, I did pop in and out of the community and all the characters still left an impression on me, most notably Mika. Fast forward to now, it's 2nd Anniversary, Mika became playable, and there's even going to be a full TV anime. Now, my phone still can't handle the game, but having acquired other things like my laptop and tablet, I was able to log in again on JP and get Mika to 5 stars. And the game is just as amazing as it was back then. So I've decided: I'm coming back. I just spent 2 hours earlier today watching a video on Volume 1 of the story, and man, I was tearing up more than I do when watching an actual movie or anime. I am so glad to be back.

Imma be honest, the game definitely isn‘t for anyone, both in story and gameplay. It can also be very time intensive and there is no content if the person playing isn‘t there for the difficult gameplay like Norman, Babel or later on Boss Rush.
Personally it‘s my current favorite gacha to play......buuuuut I have a lot of friends that started playing together with me on day one and except one they all dropped the game because they felt like there was no content and when I looked at one account that said that during Echo Aria and saw that they didn‘t touch Babel nor deep blue wz(the latter one is kinda understandable)

Well, I also quit playing BA long time ago. But I came back just for Iroha. I'm a WW2 tank nerd, and that Tiger I tank really activated my neurons (Iroha is cute too). But I didn't really plan to play it for too long. And suddenly, after some months, the 4th PV arrived... That time, I know that I need to play the game seriously. My students need me. I haven't really read the story before, but now I read it slowly but steadily. Now I'm playing it regularly while in a really casual style. I don't care about PvP or raid rank. I just want to collect more students and read their story.
(The next one will be a long story)
Other than BA, I also kinda quit playing Priconne. I love it, but I just didn't have the time and I was kinda burn out of it. It really pained me whenever I saw the icon in my phone. But one day, I log in after so long and find out that a lot of my old guild members left the guild. They are, together with me, are the early members of our guild since the early game release. We stayed strong and grow up together as a player. But now they are left the guild. Either because of they are quitting or they move into a different guild. In despair, I nearly join them as I wrote my apology message in our guild chat room. But the other old members (not as old as the founder members tho) tried to stop me. They said that it's okay that I took a long break as long I'm back now. And it hit me with more dilemna. Should I leave or stay? My old clanmates are gone now. But then I realized something. Even after a lot of lost, the guild member slots is still quite full. Yes, our rank dropped a lot. But its still alive. It seems many new fresh players joined our half dead guild. And so, I decided to come back. I love the game, and while the guild is different now, there are a lot of new players that will appreciate some help. While their performance in the clan battle is not that good (well, they are newbie). But it's always endearing when they ask some newbie question in the guild chat room and I'm happy to answer them. But well, it come with sacrifice too. I decided to quit Tower of Fantasy. First, I'm bored of the same repetitive gameplay that favour high spenders. Second, I might be a loner solo players. But after most players abandoned my server, it becomes too lonely. The chatroom became empty. I also can migrate to other server, but I don't know where to and I just lost my will to play. In the past, I abandoned Priconne for ToF. And now, I decided to come back to my root. So I won't try any more new games as long I have my current game. They are FGO, Azurlane, BA, Arknights, and Priconne. Still a lot eh? Lol.

Although I see so many encouraging comments on this video, there will always be the other side of people who quit. I among others probably quit when we got shafted on a banner. Also in the video, it's not realistic to be getting a spark each month without spending. From the ip's you mentioned, priconne was one I played for the longest time and it was mainly due to the enjoyable events and easy way to get characters. For the story aspect of gacha games, I would consider arknights and honkai impact to also have a good story. But overall I really like the music, characters, pvs, and story in Blue Archive as well. Even though I quit after being burnt out as well as not getting certain rate ups that I wanted, I still watch videos on how the story is progressing or just search up the soundtracks cause they are that good. Well for those who are still playing, best of luck to you and for those who aren't this man explains pretty well as to why you should try.

I understand that feeling. As a Azur Lane enjoyer from day 1 I used to play the game a lot on a daily basis for like a year or 2. Then after a while I just had a burnout to a point small dailies felt like a chore. And also because I had other games I wanted to play but there’s only 24 hours in a days and working exist Azur Lane sadly had to dropped.
But I never really quit the game, I was still keeping an eye on what’s happening and from time to time I would come back. And it is only now, after experiencing many gachas that I realized leaving AL was my big mistake. I almost repeated the story with BA but I just figured if I dont log in for a day or 2 because I don’t feel like it then I shouldn’t force myself to do it. And that’s how I managed to stay updated with the game and honestly BA also makes a lot of effort to keep and attract new players. But for me the thing that really carry the game are the music, chara design and story (in no particular order). BA along with AL are the only gacha that managed to deliver such strong music quality in game. And they are also very skilled at associating the music with an event as showed in their last preview.

Bruh, I've been looking at Lace channel for months every time BA update just in case he did pulling Stream up until Hoshino banner that Lace finally back to stream BA! So glad you're returning!
Honestly tho, it's quite hard to quit BA for me too, been out for a month due to irl bussy working, then re-install it, with every new update, it just soo tempting to me to play this game more and more for the story, and yeah RE Aoharu from 2nd JP Anniv PV music slaps hard about the story BA has, and I'm so glad playing this game since the game globally release. And probably my top 5 gacha of all time...

Played Global on release, dropped the game eventually, Eden Treaty dropped and I fell in love and now I'm consistently playing it daily. I played a lot of gacha games and dropped most within 3 days, some within 2 weeks, and a few within months. None of them just seem to hook for me, I didn't regret dropping any of those so far except Blue Archive. Eden Treaty essentially reintroduced me to pretty much everything, character building, lore story, each and every student and stuff. I was even brought to tears by a scene in the story which is very rare for me in games so now I eagerly wait for new chapters/volumes especially the Final Volume. Some of the stuff in the main/sub/relationship stories just feel relatable or I guess you can really symphatize with/you can really feel it being alive and have a soul. It really is a game with a story that's close to the heart.
I missed a lot of stuff especially Hatsune Miku who is never coming back, but nevertheless I got my account back to its feet and even got UE50 S.Hoshino + most 3 stars. Coming back was probably the best decision ever, and I don't miss dailies thanks to its QoL features and the fact this is the only gacha game I play now.

I would come back because I want to support a good f2p game, as well as the studio (Nat Games, which is owned by NEXON) behind it. It's the same thing I've done for Warframe for about 10 years, the same thing I've done for Sdorica for about 4 years (the storywriting flopped, which led me to quit that game), as well as PGR. Not all of these f2p games end up being good products, but few good things ever last as long as the games I've supported over the years.
However, I think since the last time I saw you, brightening up your room and fixing your hair -- among other things -- has really helped with your presentation. I really like the video format, so dropping a few gachas to take care of yourself and your content creation does mean something. So if you must drop a gacha to prevent hoarder's addiction, do what you must. Your health is more important than burning yourself out for our entertainment!

I have 5 years or so of playing many many gacha games and I reckon BA is the best. Best story, best characters, respects your time with miminal grind (auto), fun gameplay which is simple but has just enough complexity to be interesting... Definitely worth picking up again, you will find yourself caught back up in no time. Also a great time for new players to start.

My main gacha I play and love and currently the only gacha I've committed to is "crusaders quest" I feel like the game definetly has its problems but for me I'm a suckered for good pixel art and aesthetics but even though the story is quite cliche it is nice how simple it is. So many characters and new characters aren't particularly stronger than existing ones. I think biggest limitations is there isn't really a place for every character you have cause some need updates or just don't do the job you need them to. But for me they all have place I just have to find it because nearly I'd say 92% of all the character even collab ones have unique skills and stories. Just not enough game modes to let them shine. I love the game and I don't think choose one over it at least until genshin finishes

Blue Archive is the only gacha game that I have stuck with for ONLY it's story. I might get flamed a bit, but I actually don't think the gameplay is that good. But the writing and the story is just on a completely different level. there's just no way they wrote about students robbing a bank while also writing about their club president about to sign her life away. I don't know what BA is doing, but it WORKS.
Also, these devs absolutely love their own game man. That 4th PV has 180+ stills. Like I don't know what to tell you man. I've shown that PV to many non-players and they are just blown away. Blue Archive is in a class of its own.
And, just wanna say BA is a game you can learn to let go of dailies and stuff. FOMO hits me hard, but not with BA. I log in once a day, burn some stamina, and I'm done. 15mins max. I'm here for the story, and nothing else. Just something you might want to consider.

I just got back into this game like 3 days ago. I was a DAY 1 player when the JP version dropped. I multi rerolled 4 different virtual devices to get a good start. I really really invested so much time into this game, but then I kinda grew out of gacha games.
Recently I tried out Genshin Impact for my third time since my first attempt a year or two ago. I've literally hard grinded this game for like a bit more than 2 weeks now. Currently at AR41 nearly f2p. I purchased the welkin and bp as well as like 5 dollars of genesis.
And I am just saying this as someone who has also stopped playing Azur Lane (my all time favorite gacha) due to the same feelings you mentioned, I really hope you started Blue Archive again. It would be a shame to avoid playing a game you genuinely love due to feeling like you missed out.
I joined just as the Hu Tao and Yelan banners were ending before I knew how good they were, and it sucks because if I had started playing Genshin just two weeks earlier I could have had one or both. But that isn't stopping me from playing this game that I truly love and now have emotional investment in.
In conclusion I hope your fomo didn't stop you. I hope you are now having a good time playing the game. I hope you're feeling relief in knowing you're enjoying your time.

I'm enjoying the story so far but goddamn, it takes so long to finish reading an actual chapter due to the missions unlocking episodes
Maybe this comes from a privileged viewpoint of playing fgo first where progressing through the story is overall easy until you get to some of the later lostbelt chapters like 5 and beyond, but still, I read just about 3 episodes one day and it nothing super eventful happens or it ends in a cliffhanger, and it's back to me waiting for the hard quests to refresh so I can level up efficiently, it's annoying af

I played for 2 months when it launched. I ended up quitting for a few months because the gacha rates has really disappointed me in so many ways. I had to spark for the banners I wanted to roll on thanks to your banner guide videos. Seeing myself having to spark 5-6 times in a row really put the nail in the coffin for me. During that break I ran into the same nostalgia as you did.
I was recommended ost from the game on youtube and that's what made me want to come back. This time I took a different approach to the game. Instead of me trying to save/roll for characters, complete events and do perfect raids, I instead decided to go into the story. That second approach is what made me start loving this game all over again. Everything about BA story is just really good. Forclosure Taskforce having a good start to the main storyline to Edens Treaty being the best volume yet has really done wonders for me. I ended up coping with the gacha at the end and now I don't mind sparking for characters no matter how bad my luck is. I'm just here for the story and lore.
So yes if you do want to come back, try taking a different approach like I did.

Although I just started playing blue archive about 3 months ago, I've gotta say, the story in this game genuinely has the most soul out of every single gacha game I have ever played. If I'm being honest, I'm not the biggest fan of the gameplay of blue archive, but the story and overall atmosphere has kept me attached to this game, the little interactions with characters and all of the engaging story arcs just made the game feel so alive. That 4th pv, that was just beautiful, I'm not gonna go too deep into explaining just how good that was as it will take forever, but that single video has hit me so hard emotionally that I come close to tearing up every. single. time. I watched it. Ever since I started playing gacha games two years ago, there has been 3 games that has really impressed me, first was genshin with the absolute astonishing graphics and overall quality of the gameplay; then there was guardian tales with the nostalgic feel of the story and the amazing community; now there's blue archive, this game just knows how to make a great story and some fantastic character development, I genuinely feel attached to the characters and feel like myself as sensei has actually had an impact in the world of ba after witnessing the 4th pv and the final arc.
But yeah. I feel like I'm talking too much now, thank you nexon for creating such a wonderful experience for everyone. :)

I dropped it a while back because I just can't be bothered to do dailies for multiple games (I was actually really close to dropping my main game priconne at for a bit too, missing a few days here and there for a couple of weeks).
I know exactly how you feel, going into the game realizing I just missed a whole event and of course lots more over the last few months.
For my part I have a hard time seeing myself going back to the game in any meaningful way, I have better things to do with my free time than worry about doing dailies or completing events in some gacha game.
Even so I feel like I want to get back into the story of the game and I wish I played more whenever I hear the amazing soundtrack.
If I had nothing better to do and a long daily commute (by public transport, don't gacha and drive) I'd pick it back up in a heartbeat.

I heard it's one of the most popular gacha games out there, so I installed it, played it just a bit, and the highschool slice of life look and chibi character gameplay really turned me off to the game. I am a huge fan of deep and complex lore and story, with really fun combat (like Honkai 💜). But maybe I should give it more of a chance. This 2nd anniversary in JP server truly brought up 2 major things in the player base:
    1. Retired player came back after seeing "WTH IS GOING ON TO MY STUDENTS?!" 4th PV
    2. And new player going in "WTH WHEN THIS UWOOGHH GAME BECAME SO DARK?!"
While player that still playing are frothing from too many hype, from the final arc, to the anime adaptation, from MIKA PLAYABLE!!, and of course the generous pulls and resources~
Yeah I think BA is kinda weird, because it is a _niche_ game and people dropping or judging that BA players as pedo weirdo. But somehow it attracts more and more people to this game. People who came for waifus suddenly becoming a true Sensei that wants their students to be happy. With this train of hype, I'm excited with a lil worry how the IP to keep running.

Blue Archive started to burn me out big time with all the RNG b.s. especially in raids. Restarting over and over dozens of times because I can't get the 3 starting skills I want has stressed me greatly.
As for the story, I also have skipped a few events now unless it actually interests me. Playing every day is starting to become a chore, especially when I have other gacha games I still play semi-regularly. There came a time when I ask myself "why do I still play this game?". I really got bummed out and I told myself that I'll drop the game when I get Bunny Akane in Global. I thought it's a good stop because Bunny Chaser PV is the reason I got hooked in this game in the first place because of that classy bunny girl with glasses (yep, Bunny Akane).
But then the 4th PV hit. All of them are spoilers because of so many stories I've skipped, but somehow it genuinely renewed my interest in the game. I actually went back and did the story and found myself enjoying BA again. Then Global also got the Starting Skills fairly recently, so my main source of stress is mostly gone.
I still try to minimize my playtime in all my gacha games so I can have a life outside of my phone (and play more "real" aka non-gacha games), but I think I'll still hold on to BA for a bit longer. 4th PV really did wonders to me.

Where I would say Priconne totally is better than Blue Archive is in its presentation, several unique CGS and animated cutscenes during events and story. And what makes it even better is that everything is voices and helps to attach you to certain characters. As much as I like Blue Archive I have a hard time remembering some characters because I don´t hear many characters aside from the ones I´ve used during missions.
