Good morning from Tennessee. I’m so happy I have found you ! You’ve helped me tremendously with my painting. I haven’t been painting that long and I needed a artist just like you! Thanks for sharing all your videos! 😊
Welcome to the channel Tamy! So glad you found us and are enjoying the videos! Wishing you all the best with your art journey - such an exciting time when you start to paint!
Yes! She has been so much help for me. I loved the "one" course I took in college but that was YEARS ago and I got away from it for a very long time. I watched others on RUclips and learned a lot of terminology and much about brushes, paint and paper qualities. All good and important things, but not much good if you don't start painting. Diane was the first to really help me put paint to paper. Her calm attitude and pleasant voice makes a world of difference. Not to mention her talent. So, thanks again, Diane.
Hello my friend again! I’m revisiting more of your birds, kitties, teddy bears and more of your tutorials…….why? You ask? 😁 Because Valentine’s Day is on the horizon and I have a bunch of cards to paint! Thanks to you, all my holiday cards sold very well in our community shop up here in the hills! Love and light to you my friend!❤️
Thanks so much Posie for all your kind and generous messages which mean so much to both of us! I am thrilled for you that your cards sell well, but I’m not surprised, as you are both a gifted painter and a glorious person! Which shines through in your work. I think there are a few videos that would be good converted to Valentines cards and I am planning on doing a few more soon. Happy painting friend!
Diane, I love these three! This too would be a perfect card to send to a friend. This painting has that unique Diane Antone signature that nothing compares to. Again it has that touch of vintage style that I love. It's always so enjoyable to watch you paint. I love the delicate strokes on the bird's feathers. Also, the additional touch of green you added to the leaves really popped it out. Great advice when you say, "Have to be brave, have to be brave." That's what I'll remind myself of when I attempt to paint this beauty. It's truly like a visit with a friend watching your videos. Thank you.
How I thoroughly enjoyed this video! It had everything! Tuition, a review (paints and paper), the cutest birds, and to cap it all off, a beautiful rooster call in the background! (Only one teeny thing missing was any dog noises!). The tutorial part of this video was brilliant. You showed how to make a simple loose shape into something alive and charming. I really must have a bash at this one. Thank you, Diane
I just did something interesting. I was watching this video and had to mute it for a minute, but then finished watching it muted. So interesting just to watch you paint, and guessing what you were saying. Now I'm going back to listen and see how correct I was. This is silly! But I feel as if I've leant to much from you, I'm interested to see how I may have guessed what you've said. (you know how I love to watch your hands at work) Always another beautiful piece of art...these colors are wonderful. And thank you so much. YOU are the best!!!
Thanks for all you do. Found you a week ago and have watched lots of your videos. I’m near Boston MA and only began painting in Dec. ‘23. I’m 77 with a sometimes shaky hand. I find getting colors light and transparent enough. I add water but don’t seem to change them much. I’ll keep working on it! Thanks for your meditative style.
Diane you've inspired me ,it's an exciting feeling! I'm retired and have been needing something creative to occupy myself. I'll be surprising my three grown children by Christmas with some nice hand painted gifts. I can't wait to get started. Bless you😇💕
What a wonderful comment to start my day! So happy that you’re enjoying the videos. You’re right, starting a new watercolour journey is a very exciting thing!
So adorable. Thank you Diane for always bringing joy in your beautiful paintings. Painting this evening, your butterflies...will be trying these next. Blessings.
Hello Diane from Queensland, Australia. You have certainly inspired me! Just love your vidio tutorials. Keep them coming! Kind regards from across the sea.
Lovely little birds so simple but so effective. I don't currently have any Daniel Smith paints, will have to give these a try. Thanks for sharing these little fellas :)
Thanks so much for these beautiful tutorials!! I’m loving trying them out. You are amazing with a brush, just a few swipes and boom 💥 beautiful stuff appears ❤️ 🥰
Diane, thank you so much for these cute, fun little paintings! You make them look so easy and they are FUN to paint! They make really cute cards or little paintings to give as gifts!
Diane another cute painting. I've just got the quin gold. I cant afford Daniel Smith paints but I have many cheaper w/colours and will try with those. Thankyou for the inspiration. 💖💖💖
Davina. My granddaughter, (8 yrs.) was producing some great (vivid) watercolor paintings. I had to ask what brand she was using and it was Crayola brand! I have expensive watercolors, but your comment here reminded me to get out the Crayola brand and experiment!
Awwwww- they look so sweet.... I looked back at the other ones you've done and they not only look different- but their expressions are different!! I had no idea that could be done on these little guys! I have to get moving bc I want to try this today!! TY for the inspiration : )
These little birds are so adorable. You make it look so easy and I just love how you paint this freestyle and how nothing has to be perfect and yet it looks perfect. Thank you for sharing! I look forward to your next video.
Well, I was just getting ready to take a nap but I saw these cute birdies. Guess the nap can wait! Thank you so much for taking some breaks in your busy farm life to paint for us.
Really enjoyed watching this, love your loose style. When the painting was shown again after it was dry the first time, the twig had been changed. Wish you had shown how you did that part!
Sorry about that Tracy. I can't remember now why I changed it but it would only have been one or two strokes of a slightly darker color I think. I try not to do that nowadays.
I have been absolutely LOVING your videos Diane. I have been practicing loose watercolor and adore your painting style. It is a binge watch weekend of your beautiful paintings!!!
Love your little birds! I'm having my birthday in July and plan on suggesting the paint sets you are using as a birthday gift. I probably wont get them because when I'm asked what I want ,I never get it! Oh well I'll have to order it for myself. Thank you for sharing your time and beautiful patient spirit❤🙏
Thanks for showing us the color mixing. It amazes me when 2 colors are put together and something so different and gorgeous is the outcome. I bought the Daniel Smith essential set of 6. It is a very useful and beautiful set. I do believe my next gift to myself will be this set. My birthday is not til December so I may have to find another reason to reward myself. Lol I love these little birds!
Hello, Quin. gold is a magical color. I’m amazed at all it can be mixed with and the colors that result. Sure made some pretty birds. Thanks for the video. Looking forward to upcoming chickens and maybe watercolor pencils😉😉
Scrolling and came across you channel I love birds, & saw these 3-cuties I’m not a painter but love how easy it looks to paint these birds. I may give it try. Thanks for sharing 🥳💕
Thanks Diane. This was so fun. Instead of the 3rd bird I put one of the cats on a branch you did and I put a small butterfly in the upper left corner that the birds are looking at. Lol.💜
I paint the first tail at about 7m 40s into the video. It’s hard to explain in words, but I flick the brush a little as I paint the tail. Hope this helps a little.

Have fun! You really don't need special paints - I painted for half a century with just the basics and didn't miss the others a bit!

💖😍😘😜✨💖🎶🌹
I wonder how you get that feathery look at the end of tail and wings…would you explain, please. ?
I paint the first tail at about 7m 40s into the video. It’s hard to explain in words, but I flick the brush a little as I paint the tail. Hope this helps a little.
👍👍🧡🧡👀👀 8/6/22
These colours are really beautiful but more expensive than other manufacturers 😕
That’s true, and it’s great that there is a choice nowadays of less expensive options. Which, I might add, are often just as good!
And who should be able to afford arches and Daniel Smith? Not me. :(
No, I was lucky to be given both by kind people x
