I think the piston rings are tailored for different cylinders. Hence you should not mix them. Remove one, fit it to the piston, and put the piston with ring back, then do it with next cylinder.

You mixed the piston ring up, they were gapped to suit each cylinder that's why they were in the cylinder not a bag!
Yup, first part of the assembly instructions is to not mix these up.
