The Anya Taylor-Joy question was a trick question. She's only American because she was born in Miami while her parents were on holiday. She spent almost no time there, living her first six years in Argentina and the rest of her life in the UK. At best, that means she's both American and British, but realistically/culturally, she's British. There's no world in which American is the only correct answer.
American-born, but not American is how I'd describe Anya Taylor-Joy. Just because someone is born somewhere else does not make that person a certain nationality. I can't imagine going up to someone saying "you're American because you were born here." .... Now I kind of want to try that with my best friend's brother. He was born in Germany, but lived most of his life in America.

They were just plain wrong about her. She’s American only because of American laws about being born here automatically giving you citizenship. Her parents were in Miami on a vacation. She has British citizenship by virtue of her parents. At the very least she would be considered both, but should be considered more British than American.

That's why Anya has dual citizenship: being born in USA she got American citizenship and being born to British parent she got British citizenship.... If someone have American parents and is born outside USA (for example: trip to East or South Europe, most of Asia or Africa) that kid wouldn't have American citizenship AND wouldn't get citizenship of country kid is born in. That is also "Birth tourism" was/is a thing: many people who could afford it traveled to USA to give birth just so their kids have American citizenship (and the one(s) of parents.

This is actually really silly. She is classed as British-American. Just because she was born there doesn't mean she is that full blown nationality is American, as she's not. It's like Saying Emma Watson is french because she was born in Paris when she's English. I think who ever doing this research needs to do better and not be so bias.
