was just playing my new Glarry strat when i stumbled onto this video. (Probably led here from pre-purchase Glarry research)
What i did to the new Glarry strat (sunset body):
    • removed (2 layers) plastic wrap over pick guard
    • tightened ALL pot & tuner head nuts (not much tightening needed)
    • changed strings (didn't want to trust whatever cheapies it came with)
    • lowered bridge action (personal taste, of course ... and saddle hex key is included!)
    • added dampers to whammy bar return springs (just tiny cloth strips stuffed into the spring bodies to prevent them from ringing like reverb tank springs)
    • inspected ALL solder joints and ground connections. No problems found whatsoever. Good clean factory work.
    • contact cleaner/ lube applied to pots and switch
    • made 1/3 clockwise turn of truss rod to completely level the fret board (truss hex key was included!)
    • made minor intonation adjustments (pretty good, considering the action & truss work i did)
    • lowered pickup heights to personal pick comfort
    • added a tremolo spring into the whammy bar threaded hole to prevent bar from just dangling and swinging like a limp noodle. Now it stays in any position.
    • 1/4" output jack: bent elongated TIP contact inward a little more for better, tighter contact with guitar cord plug
the body and neck are in fine condition. No sharp frets or sticky neck action. Quite smooth.
the gig bag is hardly better than just a dust cover, and the included strap & guitar cord are garbage.
i'm playing this nice guitar through a 1996 Fender Blues DeVille 212 amp ... clean setting with a little reverb ... and it sounds GREAT!
For 64 bucks, i cannot believe i've got a rather decent strat in my collection now!
my only concern is hoping there are no human rights issues at the chinese factory where they roll these things out.

I bought my Glarry Strat, identical to the one in the video but left-handed, about a month ago. It's my second Glarry instrument, the first being a left-handed Jazz bass with the same color scheme 4 months ago.
All I can say is I have no idea how this company can possibly make any money, the quality of both instruments is ridiculously good, I have zero complaints, both were set up nicely right out of the box, all they needed was tuning up (and lowering the action a hair on one bass string).
And unlike a lot of these Glarry reviewers given guitars free to review, I bought both and am eyeing a third. Amazing value for the money. 👍🏻

Subbed. This is how a review is supposed to look. No screaming metal pedals, straight up into the amp nice and clean. New players probably don’t realize we can make a guitar sound great, even if it plays like garbage. Letting the notes ring out cleanly gives us a real view into the guitar quality. Well done.

I received my Glarry ST two days ago. I had ordered it mainly to tinker with during these lockdown days, and about half on a lark. For the money I figured what the heck, you know? Not expecting much to say the least.
Like you mentioned, I was SURPRISED at the quality of the fretboard. Mine has the blue ‘burst’ basswood body (extremely light) and a maple fretboard. Years ago I owned a Fender Strat that had fret sprout and two frets that were high out of the factory. This has a MUCH more comfortable neck. It has two really small quasi-rough places around the 8th fret, but about 20 seconds with some steel wool erased them. It took a little longer to get the intonation where I wanted than I’d like, but to be honest probably less than I expected it to. Again, for the money it’s an excellent guitar for a beginner, for someone who just doesn’t have the resources for something else, or like for me just wanted a guitar to tinker with. I’m looking at experimenting with modding it a bit.
I never expected to be saying this... but if anyone wants an inexpensive guitar, try this one out!

Well done, JP! I’m not missing out this time, like with Firefly. The things I’m hearing, across the board, are essentially that, yes, it has it’s flaws, but it also seems to have surprised every reviewer I seen so far with it’s overall playability, particularly with regard to the fretwork. Sharp fret ends are a total bummer, and tedious to repair, so why wouldn’t I buy this guitar? $60? Delivered? For real? It’s almost too good to be true. I’m not expecting a product out of Fullerton, but I am cautiously optimistic about this. Thank you for the honest review, too. That nut looked like it was produced by a beaver instead of a human. Yoicks! Hey, how about a review of their Tele? Tasteful playing, too. All around outstanding presentation. More videos, please!

Finally a guitar review video that allows us to actually hear the tonal capabilities of the guitar. Plus, the guitar player lets the notes ring so that, again, we viewers get to hear the tonal quality of the guitar, plus we get treated to his tasteful playing. (Too many reviewers have such horrid and aweful vibratos it makes you cringe when you listen. This player knows how to bend a string and how to "wiggle a note".) Now I can make my own informed decision if I think that I might like this guitar and it sounds like I would like playing it and owning it.

I have 2 guitars and a bass from them and I can say they are great for the money. Only issues I've had is the strings are terrible. The nut is soft plastic so if you use the trem its gonna wear down quick. And the pickups are like little microphones(you can literally hear your voice thru them) and dont handle hi gain very well. Definitely need replaced. You can definitely make these super nice for not much extra money.

I have been thinking about getting one of these in the exact same color as a project I have only heard good things about them and since I have not heard what I consider a bad review the necks seem to be good. Good basis to play with upgrading parts, learning how to do all the guitar neck maintenance and setup work. The cheapest guitar I have bought in recent history is a Guitar Fetish - Xavier XV-854 Tele Thin Line copy w/their gold foil humbuckers.. Great guitar cost me about 244 with a hard shell case. Bought in 2016 recently developed fret sprout, but that is after having moved to the desert that is Salt Lake City. I think it was due to the lack of humidity and nothing else.

The real elephant in the room...? This guitar is probably better than Fender were knocking out late 60's thru the 70's, obviously less 'romance' though having no Fender monica on the head stock which what players pay for. We are proper bunch of snobs aren't we, eventually some grow out of this, some don't.
NB:- I've had a few Harley Bentons go thru my hands recently for set-ups and the quality is consistantly amazing, they are also easy to move on as they are getting a really good name and a decent following. They have more a Yamaha feel to their fretboards, flat radii, slightly wider.

Kinda late in seeing your (great) vid on Glarry. Sweet riffs you got out of it! Excellent illustration of the tone variance as well.
The cheapest guitar I ever bought was a $99 Memphis LP Custom copy in Dec 1979 (equals about $350 in today's USD). Cherry sunburst, looked beautiful. Thing howled like an alley cat being violated when I plugged it in and turned my amp past 2....atrocious feedback scream due to unsheilded pick ups...

Although this video is from Jan of last year, I figured I would respond to this nice guys question of the cheapest guitar I ever bought.
The cheapest guitar I ever bought was a $40.00 "Austin Bazaar 38 Inch Sunburst Cutaway Acoustic Guitar with Gig Bag and Accessories" and it was a lot of fun lol. I just copied and pasted that from a old email lol. Anyhow, its frets were not sharp but it had a small chip in the fret board, it had a cheap bridge that did not hold up against steel strings, even if the guitar came with steel strings. The bridge snapped in half, and felt like that cheap wood stuff you use for crafts lol. The tuners were very low end and had a bit of slippage in them. The gig bag was nothing more than a dust cover, it did come with a pitch pipe for tuning, but I never learned how to use it. I just bought a cheap tuner that I still have to this day.
With all of that said, I honestly love that guitar! I am not joking ether, I want to replace the broken bridge and put on better tuners and fill in that old chip in the fret board, and play it again. It never had the best sound, but it was my first guitar and I think it deserves a bit of respect for being with me during the darkest days of my life. Would I suggest anyone buy one like it, no. But would I do it all again, yes! because it was and is my old and busted friend.. I grew way too attached to it, what can I say lol.
So sense it only cost me 40.00, I got more out of it then I would have expected I could lol.

    Posted this on another review.
Can't buy a cheap kit for that!
    60 bucks for a neck and a body with a not-bad finish,
    Got one coming.
I have a set of HSS configured pickups laying around from an 80s Ibanez, and a Wilkinson bridge-takeoff from who knows where.
    New pots for 8 bucks.
    New Pickguard 15 bucks
New 5 way switch 15 bucks
Wilkinson ez lock tuners 30 bucks
Grafteck style low friction nut 5 bucks
Do a proper set-up on the guitar and sand / shape / Shellac the neck - (Brad Paisley's favorite)
120 bucks all in and from all the reviews, it will put a Squire to shame and be Gigable.
You could probably do it cheaper if you scoured sleazybay and craigslist.

I teach out of my home and have a Repair and Review Website & FB Site under Construction. Not gonna mess with RUclips to many guitar channels as there is . But contacted Glarry and asked them to send my a White one same base Model as you have there . I wanted a cheap but decent quality Guitar to refer my students to incase the decide they dont wanna put the time in they wont have spent bunches of money !! They are stalling like I'm trying to get a free cheap $61.00 dollar Guitar !! I have a Charvel San Dimas and a 1968 Gibson Les Paul so I don't need their guitar for myself .It's comical when they have sent everyone I know on YT a free guitar its hilarious .... Iolo and Davidson have both offered me a free guitar but from what I have seen the cheaper Glarry seems to be the best of the 3 ? The Davidsons would by far be the best if they would use better quality Fret Wire stay away from them until they fix this issue . I will probably accept Iolos offer if Glarry doesn't make a decision this next week . I'm making content and want to review the Glarry as you just have . GREAT Video Thanks I will know what to look at if the send e one ??

Don't buy this guitar if you're not interested in modding. You will end up disappointed. It would be a waste of your money. I had to unbolt and readjust the neck. As far as feedback and hum, these guitars are surprisingly good in that department. Also look for unbranded student guitars on ebay. They're the same guitar that cost closer to $50, they're actual value. Glarry just stuck their name on these guitars. You can make this a decent guitar, but it's going to require some work and upgrades. A custom guitar is ultimately the way to go.

I got one of those and it was just complete garbage had to rebuild and would fill the whole neck pocket the fretwork on the neck was like a saw blade and it's still that way have to fix it all I ain't advisable to hold off add about $70 and find a good strat squire for 1:20

Hey Jimmy!! Any chance you'd measure the nut width and the bridge string spacing?

Thanks to CAD/CAM & CNC technology in China these products are precisely made. They lack fit & finish. The purchaser can do this at home and get a good instrument. On their Strat & Tele models I replaced the tuners, nut, & strings. I also copper taped the cavities and grounded the strings. The Tele needs to be hard tailed for better sustain and lower noise but this requires skilled technician work.

The question is, will Squier & Fender aftermarket parts be able to work on this guitar without any additional drilling / modding?

    • @JimmyParagalloGuitar
      @JimmyParagalloGuitar  5 лет назад +1

Exactly that’s what I want to test next...I only have tele parts lying around right now. So it’s on my to do list.

    • @Michael-jv2cn
      @Michael-jv2cn 5 лет назад

Most companies selling parts tell you if you buy a new pick guard you may not get the holes to line up exactly right. If you are putting in mini rail you may have to mod the pickguard a bit.

I just bought an Isin for $50 These Isin and Irin's and Glarry's are all coming from the same manufacturer. They look exactly alike down to the colors. I have a sky blue and when I go to Glarry's site it is the same guitar. I'm just gonna replace the pickup's and trem. It won't stay in tune if you use the tremolo to much. I see you didn't use their cable. The cable is useless about as thick as headphone wire with plastic ends. Makes a lot of noise. When I bought a new cable the noise went away. I do like the guitar though. Don't be put off by basswood bodies. Hell I just saw a video where Grover Jackson was making one out of basswood for Freidman Guitars and they are expensive. The pickup's were really low when I got it and I raised them up closer to the string's and the sound was much better. Also you may have to tighten the screw on top of the tuners so they don't feel loose. Dude they probably sent that one with the chip cause it was returned and they needed to do something with it. If not I would be pissed if I were you. I know it was free for you but It would go back if it were me. That chip is to big for them to be selling it. Or maybe they need to come up with a relic line lol Is the guitar good? Hell yeah for the money.

How many frets didoes it have? You can make also smoother neck joint since you will repaint it completely? If you want, it's a good base instrument, just pay attention to what you do.

Cheaply made guitar... all dealers I note charge excessive prices that are not validated by it's poor quality. Sound output is OK but there are competing guitars of better quality for $30-40 less.

This one is the ST with rosewood fretboard. I was hoping they'd send the ST3 because I liked how it looked. But when we were finalizing the arrangements for this video that guitar was out of stock....

Jimmy Paragallo - Be glad that you did not get the ST3 . The pick guard looks like rotten meatloaf, other than that its a great guitar for the money. I did a relic job on mine than installed a dragon fire finished pick guard with phat screamers in it. NOW THIS GUITAR LOOKS GOOD AND IT WILL RIP YOUR FACE OFF!!!!

  • @cugir321
    @cugir321 4 года назад

@caleb prodtoins You can set it up with crap.....but you need to deal with the neck angle, the soft nut, the bad tuners (I've seen some acceptable ones lately), shitty pickup's (and you can get cheap chinese pickups that are very good....especially the 498t humbucker knock off's. Some of the hot stack single coil type humbuckers are good too).
I've refretted tons of guitars (that includes a must set up).....dream on cup cake.
Many of the cheap chinese guitars will not have the bridge properly installed which means you may not be able to get it intonated (especially the LP types)......there's ways around it but it's a pain in the ass. Some of the cheap guitars won't have the frets installed in the correct position......then you might as well buy a new neck. You can always block off the trem if it's not staying in tune after working on the nut.

  • @travist444

I just got the tele version from Glarry... and got to say I am unimpressed. The neck was very warped, the frets were "growing" out of the neck and uneven, the intonation was non exsistant. Everyone says for the value it is amazing but that value goes away if you get the guitar to a luthier to fix these. I learned a lot on RUclips so I did it myself, so I learned a lot and "saved" because of the learning experience, but am not going to Glarry for other orders.
