    Great video Kevin. Even for us 14,469 hair transplanted Norwood 7’s who can’t tolerate Finasteride, it’s great to hear some positive news. Keeping the donor (and recipient scalp area) growing as we age is still important. Luckily 5mg of oral minoxidil has made a huge improvement to my scalp and beard hair. But a second kicker would not go astray. Thanks as always for sharing! 🙏

      Even with this treatment, if you aren’t on finasteride, you will go Norwood 7 again with 100% certainty. You might want to reconsider whether to get on finasteride-at least until a replacement is available. Several are in the pipeline.

    Sorry if this is a stupid question someone's asked before, but i can't help but worry about this pubmed article I saw by Dr. Mohit Khera. • @haircafekevin
      @haircafekevin  4 месяца назад +1

      I think you are referring to this article, Differential Gene Expression in Post-Finasteride Syndrome Patients? Just reply with the title, not a link if it's a different article you mean. Dr. Khera has written a lot of PFS related articles, and he was the subject of an interview with Dr. Attia that I did this video on, ruclips.net/video/DG2jeY-Feq4/видео.html
      Basically the study compared up regulation and down regulation of genes in penis foreskins of men with erectile dysfunction claiming to have PFS, versus completely healthy men. The problem with the study is that erectile dysfunction from any cause could cause differential gene expression versus healthy men. The fact that these men at one time took finasteride doesn't show that either their erectile dysfunction or the gene expression changes were due to finasteride. For all we know ED from any cause could have caused changes in gene expression. There's no way from the study design to conclude that finasteride caused the changes in gene expression.

    A few hours ago, Bryan Johnson had a video on his channel called "How I Reversed My Hair Loss + Greying"
    In the video, he mentioned that he uses microneedling and that him and his team were a bit worried that he was causing too much trauma to his scalp. Using information on learned from your channel, I made a comment advising him and others to use tretinoin instead and how it was a more effective, less scalp-damaging alternative to microneedling. I mentioned two of your videos and mentioned your channel for people to check out.

      For those that aren’t responding to minoxidil alone, adding tretinoin usually fixes it. There are several companies that can sell it premixed for you. The first sign you’re responding will actually be more shedding. This indicates a new hair cycle has begun and you’ll eventually grow back in thicker. Lastly, minoxidil won’t stop the eventual hair follicular death. The hair gains will be temporary if you aren’t protecting hair folicals from DHT with finasteride/durasteride.

      Honestly, stuff like that does work. Along with that red light therapy. Platelet rich plasma injection works. All kinds of stuff works. Hormone (dht) blockers. Just matters how much time you are willing to invest in the upkeep of your hair. Because it’s going to go away no matter what. My hair has been thinning for 20 years now. Unless we can clone hair (and Japan is doing trials this year or next year on cloned hair follicles) then you are going to spend the rest of your life managing follicles on your head that are just gonna fall out anyway. So much maintenance. All that money and work for some thing that 80% of men will deal with by the time they reach their 40s. Like myself. My four years younger brother went bald in his low 20s. He is obsessed with whatever it takes to get his hair back. And sometimes I wonder if the hormone blockers he took ended up speeding up the process. Since I still have my hair and never took anything besides ketoconazole. He only used minoxidil, but I don’t see the sense in five different routines to keep my hair when it’s going to eventually fall out anyway.

    Kevin, is it the frontal temples and hairline that first recede for most men?
    I ask because it seems by the time you notice temporal recession, it's already beyond repair.
    If Finasteride is started early enough in most men, would it prevent even the slightest recession?
    Theoretically Norwood 1 status would likely remain?

      Yes, basically the earlier you use finasteride the more effective it is. Starting before losing ground is gives you the best possible chance to stop hair loss indefinitely.
      I talk about it here.
