      I dont think its extremely rare for it to cause regrowth but its better at maintenance. AFAIK theres a very good chance you’ll thicken hair in areas that are thinning while deadzones with no or minimal hair are probably going to require extra assistance like minoxidil or a hair transplant.

Finasteride is very safe and effective for the vast, vast majority of people, and side effects (if there are any at all) go away, especially if someone stops taking finasteride. Even if they don't stop taking it, side effects that someone actually does experience might just go away in time.

    Finasteride saved me from going bald. I was on the brink of despair, when I made the choice to try it. I’m 9 months into it and recovered so damn much hair on the front hairline , that it feels unreal. Almost no widow peak visible anymore and it continues improving with every month.
    Prior anyone would be able to tell, that I was loosing hair and I felt so uncomfortable, because my hair is a big part of being able to look better. Im not someone who can rock being bald. That’s why I appreciate Haircafe for saving the otherwise doomed hair receding individuals.

      @@Dogman262 im vegan, so I take precautions to take additional b12,d3, omega 3 algae oil and iodine supplement. I also added vitamin k for the vitamin d3 synergy, as I’m unsure, if I meet daily vitamin k needs, to match my daily 5k I.E d3 intake.well, I also take calcium supplement such as algae calcium to support healthy bones. But that’s about it. Not sure if besides the d3, anything else from the list correlates towards my results.
      I’m not into minoxidil and I find microneedling useless. Tried them both, it’s too inconvenient for me and I’ve seen no results. during the long enough time, where I ve tried it. Finasteride is more than sufficient and anything else seems too bothersome to me. Even if I was certain, that minis and microneedling would increase the gains, I wouldn’t do because I’m happy with what I am seeing so far. I rather put the extra energy in my workouts and daily long walks with my dog. Got no headspace for the inconvenience. While I’m also thinking those seem like all the other bullshit suggestions from the internet that I have tried, to the point, where I am very skeptical beyond dht blockers such as finasteride or dutasteride. Anything else seems useless and redundant. Especially considering the results I get from a little pill that I just pop in every day, with no bad sideeffects what so ever, I feel like I’m pretty much good as is.
      Mby I will upload a link with before after pictures, if I don’t forget about it. In my case it’s also very clear without before pictures, which hairs have grown back, since I haven’t had a cut in almost 2 years. So I can tell exactly how much regrowth I got! :-)

I’m well aware that the mind is a powerful thing and reading all that negative stuff could’ve given me a nocebo effect. Your content assured me that all of that fearmongering was complete nonsense. In fact I think your content has given me a bit of a placebo effect. I started finasteride about 5 weeks ago and since then my lifts have shot up and my general wellbeing has increased. A simple RUclips search of finasteride pulls up a lot of anti finasteride zealots and hypochondriacs so it’s more likely you’ve bought into the fearmongering and then developed those symptoms. I grew up around hypochondriacs who would convince themselves that they had issues when they didn’t and as a result would get the symptoms of said conditions. I know hypochondriacs when I see them.

    Hey Kevin, I just wanted to tell you that you completely changed my hair loss trajectory. I’ve known about fin since 2019 but been scared shitless about its side effect until I discovered your channel.
    I was about to drop over a grand on a laser cap and hope that scalp massages, microneedling + rosemary could save my hair after having watched many tiktoks. That was until I saw your video about how useless laser caps were and then I binged the rest of your videos for like a week. Only through you did I get the courage to start taking finasteride. I had watched many videos from multiple other creators and doctors that also said it’s a safe drug and PFS is BS. I was still skeptical about starting the drug until I saw your videos, your words really just hit different with the amount of confidence you put into everything you say.
    Within that week of binging your videos I got a prescription for fin, been on 1mg everyday for a couple months now and no sides. Hard to tell how the drug is gonna be working for my hair which is around a nw1.5 and a bit thinned throughout the top, but so far I’ve only experienced a slight shed.
    Side note: I want all the fear mongers to go to hell my hair could probably have been much better than it is now.

    Kevin, thank you for these videos to fight against the finasteride fear mongering. I'm finally using it at 1mg per day and, like everyone else, I wish I started sooner. I never would have started without you making these videos. I tried everything else first, even CosmeRNA, and now that I'm on fin I feel a huge reduction in anxiety knowing I'm on the one treatment that will actually stop hair loss. And the best part is that it's just one pill per day. Almost no effort.
    The first two times I tried it I got sides. I was a believer in a lot of the fear mongering though my sides went away when I stopped using it. Based on your videos explaining sides may be caused by elevated estrogen levels I decided to try a third time. By starting at .25mg and working my way up as well as taking the estrogen blocking supplement "Res V" from Biotest I was able to get to 1MG per day with almost no sides and the minor ones that did occur went away very quickly. The sides only really manifested for a day or so after I increased the dose each time.

    I started finasteride 1mg/day on Jan 1st because of you. I'm 27 and wasn't balding or thinning really, just for preventative reasons.
    I recognize this is way too early but so far I've had no adverse side effects and if anything have noticed some positive changes. I used to really struggle with my refractory period, borderline flu-like symptoms, which have now disappeared completely which is cool. I perceive my skin to be clearer although I've been acne-free since I was a teen. My only concern is I'm waking up a bit more frequently but my Whoop data has calculated a higher recovery and HRV score from Jan 3rd onward. December bloodwork had me at 722 total + 15.4 free ng/dl so I don't think any small boost in test would've caused this.
    Overall I'm happy to be on finasteride and feel silly for fearing it. Thank you for your work!

    Yooo Kev, I haven't watched your vids in a while, so I'm checking up on some old ones. I have a few questions. First, on your video on collagen (peptides): Dr Brad Stanfield (perhaps you've heard of him), has made many vids on the positive benefits of collagen peptides, it would be cool if you'd be able to debunk the studies he presents, perhaps in a new video. Also wonder what you think of his advises, if you know him.
    Furthermore, I've bought Greger's How Not to Age last month, and I'm pretty happy on my buy, even though I do take Greger's very precautionary takes on supplements always with a grain of potassium chloride, knowing how he often chooses diet in favor of supplements/medications and such. But I'm simply wondering if you know other doctors/registered dietitians with good websites or books. I still highly value Nutritionfacts, despite of some criticisms I hear.
    And last question: will you ever still do a vid on Alfatradiol? I never hear you speak on it anymore, when >2 years ago you often brought it up now and then. Thanks for all.

    • @haircafekevin
      @haircafekevin  8 месяцев назад +1

      Well, you can tell from my video that I'm more skeptical of collagen than some others, like Dr. Stanfield for example. I'm pretty skeptical of many supplements because most of the time they haven't been well researched. As for Dr. Greger, I think my opinion is best expressed in this video I made on his ideas that diet can treat hair loss, ruclips.net/video/qVgX1F_Y3D8/видео.htmlsi=Nsq22NQkCOBT1kPc
      Regarding alfatradiol, I don't think it is very powerful, but at the time I tried it I was able to get it cheap, so I used it as adjunctive treatment, but haven't used it recently.

I'm 34 and am at a norwood 2.5 on leftside and a 3 on the right side and started receding in my late teens but it stabilized. However obviously it's very slowly getting worse. She said i have diffuse thinning from the inflammation. I don't really see redness where my bald spots are but i do see little baby hairs. I do have sever itchy and red scalp though and dandruff. After my third day of oral fin I felt really off. Got out of the shower and realized I had completely chemically transitioned. Hair is amazing and I'm now a solid 8/10 hot chick.

    You make great Job. Thanks a lot. I am 51 years old. I have been using 1 mg of finasteride three times a week and minoxidil once a day for 20 years. The effect of this combination is slowly coming to an end. I would now also like to take pyrilutamide once a day or 0.5 mg of dutasteride once a week. What would you take? Pyrilutamide or Dutasteride? Or both?

    Do you think that on the off chance someone was to experience the “side effects” of finasteride or “PFS” , that those could be offset by living a healthy lifestyle that promotes high testosterone and overall good physical and sexual health? Also maybe any supplements that could help diminish “side effects”.

    • @haircafekevin
      @haircafekevin  8 месяцев назад +1

      Sure. Also, ED is easily treatable today, and since about 50% of sides resolve while continuing to use the drug, it would be a good strategy to muscle through if possible.

    Kevin, I need your advice. Should I wait one year on Finasteride before adding Minoxidil? Can the hair improve greatly with only three more months, within the remaining three months to complete the year, using only Finasteride?

    • @N330AA
      @N330AA 8 месяцев назад +7

      I think it's best to wait until adding Minox so you can evaluated how effective fin is for you. Really fin is the important one long term. If you take Minox at the same time though i could be hard to figure out if fin is working or not.

    • @haircafekevin
      @haircafekevin  8 месяцев назад +7

      If you've lost a lot of ground already, like you're a Norwood 3 then I'd get on minoxidil now. Otherwise give fin more time.

    Quick question , can you do a video on why finasteride just doesn’t work for some people or why it Stops working eventually for many people ?

    • @haircafekevin
      @haircafekevin  8 месяцев назад +8

      Perhaps. In most cases though it is just people freaking out about a shed. In rare cases some people just need more dht inhibition so finasteride still works, it just isn't enough.

    • @litjellyfish
      @litjellyfish 8 месяцев назад

      Is it really stopping working for MANY people or just SOME people? I really seldom heard that it stopped working.
      Also let’s not confuse it that even when taking it hair do slowly get thinner and sometimes starts to gray. So I am curious if those who claim it stopped working simple went over a visual threshold and read it as fin stopped working

      @78percent34 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@litjellyfish why does hair slowly get thinner ?

    • @litjellyfish
      @litjellyfish 8 месяцев назад

      @@78percent34 because that finasteride do not block DHT completely. I do not stop Hairloss completely. But it slows it down very much. So the Hairloss continues so to speak. But maybe now almost 25 years after using finasteride I maybe are where i would have been 1-2 years after if I had not taken finasteride. Or it would have been even worse.

    Hello kevin bro...Need your help !
    ● Can we facewash daily, if yes then can we use even 2 times a day?
    ● How can we use retinols for face skin ?
    ● I saw ur reply comment on another video where u recommended using head & shoulders daily. Now my question is that h&s contains sulphates & parabens, which i heard are not good for hair. Is it true ?
    Thank you ❤

    • @haircafekevin
      @haircafekevin  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, of course.
      Just apply it after cleaning your face. Use however much you need to get full coverage, should just be a few dabs.
      No, but if you have really dry hair you may want to avoid shampooing daily. Could also try using a good jojoba oil conditioner.

    I'm just about ready to take the leap. I trust science, but the one thing that has me a little concerned is I haven't really seen any studies on people who have had side effects and gotten off the drug to confirm if these side effects resolve in everyone. Do you know of any studies like this Kevin?

    • @haircafekevin
      @haircafekevin  5 месяцев назад

      This study does a good job of reviewing the evidence and concludes that there are no high quality studies documenting persistent side effects from 5AR blockers. www.karger.com/Article/FullText/450617
