I watched a documentary where survivors of the Titanic spoke about the trauma of seeing some of the films about the Titanic in the 50s, 40 years after the event. They said the films were well done and respectful of what happened but still found it too much. Doing a film about it so soon when the kids involved are not even adults yet and with no contact to the family is disrespectful and I feel for Shari seeing the trailer for it and finding out about it.
It's appalling Lifetime is making this movie without permission, especially when the victims of the story are still minors. They deserve to heal in peace without their story being exploited. Then as adults, they could decide if/how they want to share their story. I'm so glad for Shari writing about her experience. The kids' perspectives are really all that matters at this point.
I've had a sense that something has been off since last August. It seems like they haven't been sharing the whole story with the family. Shari is upset about the movie that was released and has asked people not to support the Lifetime movie because they didn't communicate with them about the production or the financial aspects of the film. Money grabs are greedy and deplorable.
The timing is very suspicious. The father is now giving news interviews. He is stating that there is truth that will clear his name, but he can't say anything yet. He said it will come out at some point. Did he sign an NDA with Lifetime? Did he sell the rights? The movie trailer casts him as an innocent victim of Jodi. He hasn't said anything about the movie, just the two oldest.
Goodness, I'm glad she is speaking up about everything and wrote a book, I can't wait to read it! Lifetime being scummy isn't surprising, just surprised they're still getting away with it in 2024

Defamation and other laws for books are apparently different. A lot of people write books for that reason to speak out. I don't know exactly how it works. I unapologetically love original Lifetime movies. Never really been into the based on a true story ones. And, this is out and out evil. I have very mixed feelings. While I totally understand the family not wanting the movie aired, they don't know how it will actually be. I imagine they can only share what has already been shared on Ruby's utube channel, the news and other social media. While they are clearly looking to make some $. I'm thinking that if they don't do a movie, the next production co will. Of course this family knows a lot about trying to make $ on drama, hence Ruby's channel!! Shari writing a book is making $ off the story too. The children SHOULD have plenty of $$ from the millions they made. The kids will need it and deserve it. But nothing will bring healing except a lot of time and therapy!! I love true crime and have followed this whole story the entire time, so looking forward to seeing how they cast these people. I'm not sure I'll like it when all is said and done but we'll see. The parents deserve NOTHING. But the kids do, I'm hoping the film won't do anything to jeopardize their healing journey, the adults in there lives have the responsibility of protecting them from all harm coming and should have protected them before it got to the point it did. I think the people surrounding them ie their father, older siblings, Aunts, uncles and grandparents. Their school, the mormon church and police all should have done more. This won't be the only movie and it won't do near as much harm as all these people and entities! I'm sure 'the family would like to make even more $$ off a movies they have more control over, maybe that day will still come. Also, it's kind of funny that you are upset when your whole channel is dedicated to talking about others lives, I'm sure it could be upsetting to some people!

Having actors reenact and dramatize the events detailed in the news is way worse than just sharing the news. This issue has really escalated the concept of family blogging being a bad thing that needs to be addressed legislatively. If no one talked about it, there probably wouldn’t be as much progress or attention given to that concept. The movie only adds drama, and child abuse, while most RUclips creators have focused on Ruby/Jodi and avoid bringing up the kids details.
I'm buying the book and watching the movie. To me its no different than watching RUclipsrs covering the stories from before the arrests up until now. I understand Shari being upset but she needs to direct all of that towards her parents. They are the ones who sold their family's story detail by detail for years at a detriment to the children.
