Palincă/palinka is a very strong fruit home-made brandy usually made from plums, pears and apples with origins in Carpathian mountains, Eastern Europe especially in the Balkans.

Dirty Shirt is a great band from Romania that mixes old traditional music and traditional lyrics with metal. You should check them out live at PolandRock 2022 Festival where the Polish people partied really hard when they were singing. We are all just a big family in the end :)

Heya, Romanian here! Everyone and their mother makes brandies here, țuică and pălincă being distilled from fruits (some kind of transparent, yellowish moonshine like a smoother and stronger tequila, but please, sip, never take shots of pălincă, it's above 42%, going up to 70% in Transilvania), wines (as in grapes, no matter the color, yes Romanians grow vines since times immemorial, in fact, Burebista, the Dacian king, Julius Caesar's enemy and Pompey's ally, some 2000 years ago, made all Dacians burn all vineyards to prepare for a Roman invasion - 1st prohibition recorded in history) and fruit liqueurs (sour cherry, blackberry, blue berry and so on). Here, most people, while they might own an apartment in the city, they also own a house with land in the countryside. Store bought and especially tourist trap expensive țuică or pălincă from gas stations or malls have nothing to do with the natural home made, not recommended. There are beaches here, along the many lakes and rivers, along the mighty Danube Fluvium and next to the Black Sea where it reverses in. There's everything, from breathtaking mountains to hills (great for winemaking), plains, natural springs, rivers, lakes, marshes, mud volcanoes, glacier caves etc. About the songs, yes, mostly country/traditional songs have hundreds of songs praising many home made brews. Thanks for the reaction, I never knew about this band!

I suggest you check out the song "drink for free" by virginia city revival. There is a posted video of it on RUclips, and the lyrics are in the comments. The song rocks and the lyrics hit hard; the upbeat music juxtaposes with the depressing lyrics.
