If you have a Fender Blues Deluxe, Hot Rod, Blues Junior etc this is one of the best overdrive pedals to compliment the clean tone you can get. Fender amps really take this pedal well. The key with this pedal is the overdrive setting (the distortion setting is crap IMO) with the Freq all the way left and the Contour all the way right just like you see in Roman's video. This is such a great pedal and can cover many different styles of play. Best distortion I have ever had from my Fender Blues Deluxe 40 watt amp. It's basically a JCM 800 in a box. Again .. Overdrive setting is the only one to use. Great video!
agreed, it works great on my Fender Champion 20 amp too. i use it for a dirty clean tone always on pedal. OD mode, gain at 10-11, bass and treble all the way down, contour all the way up and freq at the mid point. sounds awesome, like a broken up vintage marshall amp.
@@geoffreytodd Another one to try is the GUPtech VeJ4 pedal. It is based off the Revv 4 pedal (which I think is a based off the JH-1) and it is equally great with the Fender. It's newer and easily available.
I bought this thing used for $20 at GC.. missing the knob for the od/distortion switch. Tried using as both an overdrive and distortion...the od was decent but even modding the distortion circuit making it better didn't make me like that side much. I emptied the housing to put a homemade Rangemaster in it. After not having time for the project, I put it back together and tried it as an "amp in a box" hooked up to cheap karaoke type thing and was FLOORED! Use this as a Marshall JCM 900 in front of a Fender Bassman, and it's 99% like having both amps in one..it even cleans up like a JCM 900. Put an overdrive in front, and it acts like a JCM 900 with an overdrive in front. It's now back in rotation as one of my favorite pedals. Awesome pedal!
I love mine. Bought it used from guitar center and it does a great job of creating everything from modern high gain to classic Rip Megadeth to even light rush tones. Super versatile if you EQ your amp right and then the pedal.
I'm calling out to my fellow low enders. I had this pedal givin to me, but I'm a bass player. I haven't tried it yet, but anyone have any idea how this would sound with Ibanez SG 5 string bass and I'm going to be running it through my ampeg-ba 115
The glove does as it’s name suggests, fits like a glove. The jackhammer on the other hand, pun intended, will flat bust up a slab of concrete, but only in labor intensive mode:)
I too am very interested in knowing how this one compares to the Glove by Electro-Harmonix. I was considering one of these two as a future purchase to get that classic Marshall JTM45 (early Plexi) kind of tone. The Jackhammer seems like it can be set up to sound like pretty much any kind of Marshall amp. Its versatility is definitely a major bonus.

It was tested with Dimarzio noiseless singles. I think you can have a maiden/judaspriest tone with this pedal. For more gain perhaps you'll also have to use overdrive pedal (like TS or 808) with Jackhammer pedal.

even the dist mode sounded great here, people talk a lot about how this mode sucks, perhaps they're not setting properly.
So true! The thing is, they just don't work with the same EQ settings at all, so every time you switch you need to adjust.

If you use the Overdrive mode only it should be great! Freq all the way left and Contour all the way right and that then dial in EQ to taste.

Those knobs change frequency response and color of sound.

Freq controls the range of mids affected, contour is how much the freq is being boosted

That's what I do, but I prefer the edgier atack of the BOSS SD-1 for metal tones. I also have several Screamers, too.
