when you work with Mother Nature in charge expect the unexpected, ground you thought would be good after checking/testing the area once you work for a few days the result can be much better or much worse.parker is working an area much like a floodplain as the stream gradient is higher upstream and goes through high and low water velocity episodes on a geologic timescale which results in alluvial deposits meandering when the flatter stream Valley is encountered and the pay streaks are distributed in the valley sporadically. upstream from the ground being worked was famously rich during the Klondike gold rush and for many miles to the headwaters the pay streak was steady and was worked by the discovery prospector/miners then many years later companies were formed to work the ground individual miners could not make enough on and so it goes on today also. testing ahead of planned work areas might help them to stay on better value ground but you also might miss high grade pockets here and there if historically the area was known for such occurrences .
