At that moment, Chuchi is 100% recruited by Organa. Just pay attention to what she literally says: "My people don't like the Empire, Palpatine is afraid of the Rebellion, are you with us?"
So, Organa has gained a really powerful ally. Chuchi can hold important political functions and cover many of Organa's and his allies movements in the forming Rebellion.
Chuchi also said something very important: Palpatine is afraid of the Rebellion. The truth is that the only thing keeping the Empire alive that long was the Death Star. If Rex and Organa had organized an open Rebellion earlier or if the construction of the Death Star had taken significantly longer for some reason, the Rebellion would have had a real chance of possibly a quick victory.
Regarding the "Shadows," we have some valuable information.
    "Why was I activated?"
Scorch has access to this project and issues orders.
Additionally, CX clones don't have personalities and are fully focused on loyally completing their mission.
Hemlock literally wants to transform clones into droids that will follow orders without any form of questioning.
We can compare this to Nemesis from the legends I often mention.
He had a personality but new one created by the Separatists.
He was designed to be a clone who would be a Jedi killer. Additionally, there was no form of "activation." This clone was brainwashed, and after that, he was a normal soldier trained for his new mission.
So why are the "Shadows" different? If we look at Nemesis, his new personality was based on hatred of the Jedi, but over time, he also developed new traits such as pride and arrogance - so even to kill Jedi he would sometimes disobey orders and even kill a commander who annoyed him. He didn't only want to kill; he wanted to humiliate his enemies, which was evidently the cause of his two biggest failures and ultimately his death.
And this fact might have encouraged Hemlock to create CX as clones without personalities. This clearly deprives them of experience, genius, courage, and talent like Nemesis, but the key words here are quantity and cost. If I remember correctly, the Separatists were able to recruit 4 out of 12 captured clones in this way. After a few skirmishes, only 1 remained, who showed that he was extremely effective but had his own goals and was not fully loyal - so that project was a total failure.
Hemlock has already shown that his project is fast, relatively cheap, and ready to be implemented on a large scale. This way, he gets soldiers who feel nothing - including fear - and he can easly get a much larger number of them.
Additionally, CX clones are fully loyal to the Empire and can be completely controlled. This project is brilliant.
And I see that you've definitely gone very far with theories about who Wolfie was :)
Plus a week ago, I said that things weren't bad with The Acolyte, that it was just okay. Well, now I can only say that I regret those words because this show really seems to want to be the worst. Of course, I won't speak about the episodes, but I'm happy to quote the biggest independent SW fan channel on YT: "The fandom was divided, now it has united in hatred for this show and Disney."
Disney's reaction: They're using the hate to create artificial drama and gain views to make as much money as possible and promote the show.
They know that this show has already been a total failure and aren't trying to save it. They're sinking the ship even faster, trying to gain as much as they can even by insulting fans in every sense... Geniuses. Every series would have a problem with such anti-promotion. I will only add that this series was supposed to start a new era and was supposed to be the "flagship" with many seasons.
What can I say... I was hoping to see Revan's trilogy and other Old Republic stories someday. Now I don't want to see it because I'm afraid of what they will do to such iconic character.
Honestly, if they keep doing this, I'm waiting for competition to rise against them because it may happen eventually. Some fan productions are already more anticipated than their productions by some fans.
(One of the newer fan trailers has almost a million views, and it's a very small channel.)
Just imagine what could happen if a group of talented fans decided to create their own version of Star Wars independently of Disney's absurdities and regularly deliver good new stories in their own universe.
Fans now realy hate Disney and are even abandoning SW because of that, so what if they get a well-executed alternative?

    • @benspiller
      @benspiller  4 месяца назад

Love that Chuchi has now been fully recruited by Organa, I'm fully viewing them as the start of the rebellion it's just so cool to see it start off so small like this. It's so interesting to think of what could have happened if the Rebels were a little faster to organise, Organa's planet wouldn't have been destroyed and Organa would have gotten to live, but it makes me wonder at what point was it too late for the Rebellion to form before that, how much time did they 'waste' before they could fight against the Empire.
Hemlock's whole idea is so frightening, it takes the idea of the chip so much further with how it erases the Clone's identity and turns them into a droid. At least with the Chip, they got they kept who they were, this basically kills them and Hemlock puppets their corpses with orders.
I think the CX Troopers were inspired by Nemesis, feels like since they didn't use him in Clone Wars they used something similar since it's such a cool idea. It even sounds like Nemesis might have even existed in the galaxy for Hemlock to base his experiments on.
I still feel so dumb for not recognizing Wolffe and just going off on random theories 😂😂
The Acolyte sounds really weird right now, not hearing a lot about it cause I muted Star Wars stuff on my social medias to not get spoilers, but to have united the fandom in how bad it was sounds shocking, makes me worried for when I react to it 😂

@@benspiller Regarding Nemesis, I said before I am 100% sure that the creators used an unrealized concept from The Clone Wars.

The energy bow Omega had in S2 was lost/taken when she was captured by Scorch. She couldn't get it back, but this energy crossbow is close to it. Crossbows act in a similar way to the energy bow by pulling back the "bolt" and it having a high amount of potential energy being pulled back which directly translates into kinetic energy when released. Probably isn't as strong as the big bow she had before but I'm assuming it's stronger than a normal pistol.
That would be Wolffe at the end.

    • @benspiller
      @benspiller  4 месяца назад

I do like that she's gotten a new bow now but it's the movement I liked from the original Bow, this one is much closer to a regular blaster with how she has to pull a trigger for it to fire. I realise it was Wolffe right at the end of the next episode 😂😂

Nearly everyone falls into this trap, but these assassins are not called shadows. That was only a nickname the clone underground gave them as they couldn't possibly have known what they were actually called. They're called CX troopers (presumably clone experimental). They're referred to as "CX-1 and CX-2" respectively in the script, but these may not be their actual names. And when Scorch mentions "activated", he means stored in cryo. Only one CX trooper is active at a time.
I don't blame you for any of this BTW.

Many people have probably already said everything there is to say about this episode. So... Since I am a sucker for going on a tangent. I'll just give some random information on the Old Republic, which happened so many thousands of years ago, it doesn't spoil anything you are going to watch.
So! During the time of the Old Republic, the Jedi Revan, lead a force of the Galactic Republic against Mandalore the Ultimate and his Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders who had so far proven to be more than a match for the Republic. Revan used his superior tactical abilities to defeat them, and Revan's general, the Jedi, Meetra Surik, activated a Republic superweapon called the Mass Shadow Generator, on the planet of Malachor V, which ended the conflict. The planet was left broken and ruined, Meetra Surik felt the death of all those Mandalorians and Republic troopers, which caused her to inadvertently strip herself from the connection of the force in the process. Meanwhile, on the planet surface, one of the survivors had gained a unintended side effect from the weapon's destructive power. This survivor had gained the Force Ability to suck the life-force out of someone, killing them, while simultaneously feeding themselves and making them more powerful in the force... They had become a wound in the force. This survivor would be known as Darth Nihilus, the lord of hunger.
Nihilus was found on the planet by a previous Jedi turned Sith lord, Darth Traya. Traya taught Nihilus how to properly utilize his newfound power in the dark side, and he was brought to the newly established Trayous academy located on Malachor V. Darth Traya trained Nihilus and another Sith named Sion, and the three became a powerful trio called the Sith Triumvirate.
Darth Traya was the Lord of Betrayal from her having been betrayed by the Jedi and joined the Sith. Darth Sion was the Lord of Pain, a title representing his uncanny ability to survive pretty much any damage imaginable. While Darth Nihilus, the Lord of Hunger, grew hungry for force energy to fuel his own power.
Nihilus and Sion would eventually betray Traya and took charge of their new Sith Empire, with the joint goal of eradicating the Jedi Order. Traya escaped and started searching for Meetra Surik, who had been exiled by the Jedi, and thus earned herself the title of the Jedi Exile.
Meanwhile, Sion and Nihilus went their separate directions in taking down the Jedi. Sion's forces went directly and confronted Jedi often, to dwindle their numbers as much as possible. And Nihilus went with a slower more specific approach to drain Jedi of their life-force to fuel his ever growing power.
Traya had previously thought Nihilus how to drain entire planets of all life, and as a result, Nihilus did so ever now and then. His power was getting immense.
But Nihilus was gaining so much power that it was actively eating his own physical body while creating an aura of death around him. As a result, Nihilus bound his own soul to his armor as to continue operating. He was no longer alive in a sense. He was like a ghost, a phantom, acting upon instincts, all in an attempt to satiate a never ending hunger for life-energy.
Some of the few Jedi left in the galaxy at this point were having a meeting on the planet Katarr, one of these Jedi wanted to use the opportunity to lure the Sith to the planet in order to destroy them. So they leaked the position and Darth Nihilus showed up with his flagship, the Ravager. Unfortunately, the Jedi were in way over their head, and Nihilus striped the entire planet of Katarr from all living things, killing everything and fueling his power. However, afterwards, when walking on the baren dead planet, Nihilus found a Miralukan female Jedi survivor, named Visas Marr. Nihilus showed what little he had left of his humanity by bringing Marr on board his ship, and turned her into his apprentice, operating as an assassin for him. This process however DID blind Marr, but she none the less created a strong force-bond with her new Sith master.
In the meantime, Traya had found the Jedi Exile, Meetra Surik, and turns out the event that stripped Meetra Surik from the force on Malachor V, was a similar situation to what happened to Nihilus. The two of them were technically both wounds in the force. Visas Marr gets sent to confront Meetra Surik on Nihilus' behest. However Marr is defeated and join Meetra Surik instead. Meetra Surik (Now with her force powers back) brings Visas Marr and Mandalore the Preserver to the Ravager in order to defeat Nihilus.
Nihilus' power was immeasurable, however he seemed unable to drain Meetra Surik from the life-force as Meetra Surik was also a wound in the force. Visas Marr would offer to sacrifice herself to Nihilus as a means to distract the Sith Lord and thanks to this distraction, Surik was able to defeat the powerful Sith. Meetra Surik, Visas Marr and Mandalore the Preserver then fled the Ravager as it exploded. After this, Darth Sion was eventually also defeated, but in an unorthodox way. Though Sion was less powerful than Nihilus, he was also pretty much impossible to kill due to his connection with the dark side fueling his power trough pain and suffering. Meetra Surik however was able to convince Sion to let go of his hate and the dark side, something that Sion eventually did, killing him in the process. Soon after, Traya was left, and after she was defeated, she told Meetra Surik about the future, even mentioning parts that we are familiar with from the Original Trilogy, over 3500 years later.
And that is the story of the Sith Triumvirate.

About Shadow Clones not being used more: I would assume that the brainwashing of a single Shadow Clones would require a lot of time and may be hard to do, so that producing an entire army would be very expensive. Having a few of those troopers as special operatives for selected missions is probably the best way to use them...

You've seen this one before. Do you remember the strange clone you saw in the background of episode 3 when crosshair and the other clones were leaving somewhere? He's not like the other CX clones. He's like Crosshair but more controlled and emotionless. It also explains his hand tremors which are kind of like PTSD and trauma but since they were programmed to resist that, it's a symptom of Hemlocks attempted conditioning to turn him into that CX clone, our main CX. Commanders are allowed to keep their designs. Unless they are already grey or the coruscant guard who keep the red, clone commanders like Bly, Doom, Cody have to decolor their armor to grey, white or black. One more thing, all of the troopers in Rex's unit are all from different units we've seen in clone wars. Samson in purple was part of Windus legion, Greer was part of the 442nd which was with Plo koon during order 66, Fireball and,Nemec were part of the 41st, the clones with Yoda during order 66, and the trooper in red was part of the 87th which you only see in Battlefront 2

Think I remember that guy standing by the door on Tantiss, this whole programme is so freaky with how it wipes a Clone of their identity. It's honestly quite impressive that only Crosshair's hands are suffering from this, with that kind of torture I'd expect his whole body to shut down. Cool that the commanders are allowed to keep their designs but a decoloured version, seems a little strange thought that the Empire would allow that level of individuality. Love how Rex has gathered all these Clones from all over the place, must have been so fun to be able to place which ones came from which legions.

Been loving the reactions from this channel for the past few months, but I just wish the comments would be a little more careful regarding spoilers. It feels like a lot of people don't get that saying something ISN'T going to happen is usually just as much of a spoiler as saying that it is, in addition to the fairly common trend of not-so-subtle hinting at future episodes. Videos have been great, and I'm sure they'll continue to be (always neat to get some extra random facts here and there), just hoping that they can remain fairly free from influence based on future content.
