I'm probably the oldest person to watch this video. When I grew up in the 1960s I alway imagined a kind of music that sounded like this would exist in the future, and decades later the music scene evolved and Slowdive emerged. Pretty interesting. Glad it happened.
Well I grew up in the 1920s...When I heard this video was coming out I had to 23 skidoo from my flagpole sitting contest. A-cha cha cha!
I was born in 1919 and I pissed myself watching this it was so awesome
Space age shoegazer dream pop...
Check out Cocteau Twins.
They were so ahead of their time, it took the world 20 years to finally starting to catch up with them.
Whoever mixed this deserves a medal!
On many Slowdive live recordings, the vocals are too far back in the mix I find. This is perfect!
Thanks!
Yeah, it's called Shoegaze.
The Vocals are supposed to buried and dripping in reverb and delay

Probably the best live of Slowdive ever recorded. Congratulations.
Now hold on! I see a few of these comments...and fair enough. But have you ever seen the Garage performace from 2017? I personally would put that as their best current live concert in both sound and visuals. This one is good but the vocals suffer at times. It is shot very very well though.
@@awolsurf-TC I agree there are so many good records. I have been in some concerts of them and the experience is uncomparaisable. Probably the most 1:1 performance I have ever listened.
If not, by far the best shanty's sound quality...
I preffer the kexp live... this one has too much compression
@@EnzoMastrangeloMusic yup! Another great performance
@@EnzoMastrangeloMusic KEXP does a fantastic job, both visual and aural. Artists love to plat there as well.
Slowdive is one of the only bands from late 80's and early 90's still making new music as good as they made 35 years ago. This band's legacy has been a long gradual climb to legendary status.
Pixies are reading this 👀
I didn't realize how good their drummer was. Usually I was focused on the guitars. And the bassist really drives it and does well to hold the tune together so the guitars can kind of go off on their dreamy tangents.
Simon and Nick are superb musicians. They're technically world-class, and give their all in performances. But even more important, they tether the Rachel/Niel/Christian clouds to the ground, without nailing them to the floor. Glad to see others appreciate their artistry.
Understated but solid
When you experience it live, you truly understand how solid they are. The bass is out front in the mix.
Merci Arte.
NME and Melody Maker are long defunct and Slowdive get millions of views for their new songs, which are BANGERS. Success truly is the best revenge.
So true. The journalist who said they'd end up stacking shelves is now probably stacking shelves...😂
@@MrJmawiseman screw all those forgettable a-holes
@@awolsurf-TCfuckers. I never listened to them in 1991.
In a parallel universe they are as big as Coldplay and Radiohead. I think you can blame the record company too tho - why wasn't "when the sun hits" a single?
I wonder how the people from NME and Melody Maker that wrote those destructive articles about Slowdive (or any band for that matter) could sleep at night. But okay, Slowdive have definitely gotten the last laugh.
slowdive forever from Iran ❤️

the sound mixing of this live performance is amazing
This is just so perfectly recorded and shot. Thanks for capturing Slowdive live in 2024 - they are a very special thing.
Nice to see a band of my generation fighting back. Their new album is awesome!
Slowdive is not only a band.
It's a miracle.
I heard the band, just 5 days, that i was back from Australia.
it was amazing!
I hope, they come another time to Hamburg.
Because, i will not enyoy you alone.
Some friends, a lot of friends of me, will take part of you.
:)
this is a fantastic recording, hats off to the engineers
One of the best concerts I've ever watched on RUclips.
Slowdive's genre is a feeling, emotion, something magical.
Slowdive, a band that has helped me in my life since it came to me through the sleep algorithm on yt, thanks to them for everything they do and will continue to do, slowdive, a story of love, failure and Glory, I love the always beautiful Rachel and the rest of the boys ❤
Whoever mixed this created a masterpiece.
Thank you. They make it easy to mix.
@@stumacaulay7448 I second the praise of the sound work. Do you enjoy working with these mics for vocals? I assume Audio Technica AE6100?
@@stumacaulay7448 AMAZING WORK. THANK YOU.
This was an especially intimate performance. Thank you for sharing it with us. Like many others viewing and commenting on this video, I was fortunate to see them perform recently (in January). After many, many years of waiting and watching countless videos of their live shows since the '90s, they managed to exceed my already stratospheric expectations. Oh, how lucky we all are to have Slowdive.
Hello from Germany. What a great surprise in this bad times 🎉❤
😘
Esperando con muchas ansias..... "SLOWDIVE" una genial banda...... Saludos desde Perú!!🇵🇪✌🏼😎
Ojala vuelvan este año con fe!!!
As an aging musician, I respect this band so much for comin back and the RUclips algo getting this band in front of me. Never was a fan when they were young. Really liking their top songs, like this live set.
I love them. Saw you in Colombia with The Cure. The best night!
What a dream gig that was! I wish I’d been there.
oh my
Kudos to whoever did the lighting and directed this video. They totally got what Slowdive is all about and captured lots of things I have never seen in any other Slowdive live videos.
Probably the best live of Slowdive ever recorded.
First video where I can see what Christian is actually doing. I have been massively inspired by Neil's playing & tone. In fact I bought one of my (many) guitars due to Neil's Epiphone. However, I have always felt that Christian adds an unsung vital texture. Here I can see how he is doing it. My challenge is how to get the flavor of both Neil's & Christian's guitars out of my one guitar in our band. Hopeless, I know, but I do get part way there :) This my favorite Slowdive live video ever. Great work!
@@MarkB-SnowyMtn Christian is great...and yes, sometimes his guitar gets hidden or obscured in the filming. I bought (a few, haha) Jazzmasters based in part on his playing style. I am a lefty too, LOL
Pure reverie, beauty, captivating melodies, emotions...they transport you to a magical journey. Huge legend band.
How can you not be psychedelically transported by their musical mystery tour? Beautiful!
Slowdive's music accompanied me through the lows of my life and gave me a lot of strength to overcome depression. I am really grateful to them and I like them very much.
Can't think of many video and audio-recorded representations of the Slowdive live show better than this. Wonderfully shot, terrific sound... Really brilliant stuff, Arte...
Yeah it’s feckin awesome 💨 🚬
Nice to see such an important shoegaze group keeping the scene alive and producing new albums. Outstanding.
Cocteau Twins, Dead can Dance, Bowery Electric and with Slowdive some good memory coming back.
Bowery Electric is so f’ing good

You guys speak my language 🤙Beat is epic.
My bloody Valentines ..Ride
Slowdive...extraordinary live sound, beautiful atmospheres of guitars and keyboards... It took a while for the well-deserved recognition but it finally arrived guys !!! 🎸🎸🎸🎹🥁⚡🌪️🎶🎶
This sounds amazing even at low volume, all the elements at the right level so that they 'gel' correctly into the wall of sound. Honestly done better than their latest album.
The sound is so good. My favorite band.
Oh le son! Toute la stéréophonie est là! Incroyable et magique!
L🖤VE!🎧
I am a fan from mainland China. I have liked slowdive for 6 years. I didn't attend their last performance in China in 2018, and I regret it. I really hope they can perform in China again, and I will definitely go to see them.
Hats off to whoever did the sound on this one and made the green light happen on getting the mix through to the final product.
Whoa. The mix on this is incredible. I wish it had been this good when I saw them at the Riviera in Chicago last year but I know this is through the desk.
They already have a great concert on youtube from London 2017 with excellent quality but this is even better. Souvlaki space station sounds extraordinary. Such a great job by a band and sound engineers😍
Shoegaze greetings from Costa Rica ❤🇨🇷
saludos hermana tica, un placer escuchando Slowdive 🇨🇷
Nicaragua, 🇳🇮 poquito al norte. Slowdive, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Lush My Bloody Valentine. Excelente música nos dejo esa generación. Saludos a Costa Rica.
This is the most amazing recording of Slowdive Live. Great work
first slowdive show, now i have a recorded memory forever❤
Wow! A Slowdive concert with Jehnny Beth as host. Really mesmerizing. Merci beaucoup!
It's the first time listening to this band, and I can´t believe I've been missing this for such a long time. Thank you Slowdive and ARTE concert for this.
Same. I blame Canadian radio where I live for only promoting Banger Rock and roll from 40 years ago or new pop. I do what I can by blasting bands like this to all the general public in the area at skateparks I travel to. This most definitely will educate the little kids and parents further into real music out there if you look for it.

@@kevinparkernde you didn't live in Toronto in the late 80s and early 90s I take it? It put a smile on my face we had a pretty good radio station at the time called CFNY which had some great DJs in the evenings playing all sorts of "alternative" music.
YT randomly recommended me this video right now (17:10pm, 4/1/2024) and this band sounds great, like a more ambient version of Cocteau Twins (dream pop or shoegaze maybe). enjoying the good music with a cup of tea. have a nice day/night. greetings from Chile.
Welcome. Dive in. You’ve made it.
I'm so thankful that they're still around to enchant the world with their music... seeing them live this year was truly magical, can't wait to see them again in a couple of months! Also thanks to arte for capturing all of this so beautifully, both the songs and the interview bits in between are fantastic. Much love from Germany
My favorite band since 1990.
Saw them a while back in Birmingham UK. They are the most incredible band live...
Magnificent!
The video is really well done, quality sound
It's an anomaly how this band sounds so tight despite heavy use of delay and reverb! Otherworldly magical sound!
It’s because the underlying songs are so well written. They were never style over substance. The bones of the songs are fantastic. Halstead is an amazing songwriter and the band great with their parts and arrangements.
agree... I also think the rhythm section is very tight and punchy on the latest releases and makes everything else sounds cleaner@@final_mile_music9713
❤❤❤ aaaaa , sounds, video editing.. all perfect 👍👍👍👌👌👌
Man ARTE CONCERT is great, always awesome music. Thanks for SLOWDIVE ✌
I am now hooked. Holy crap. Beautiful. You feel this immensely.
What a brilliant performance by this awesome band bringing a slightly different interpretation to old and new songs. The sound quality is amazing allowing each instrument to be appreciated. The feeling all this creates is indescribably celestial
Saludos desde Venezuela con mucha amor. 🇻🇪❤
Such emotions and what a wave of sounds ! An amazing snapshot of Slowdive talent. As ever, the quality of Arte’s live recordings is astonishing.
Merci Slowdive, merci Arte,
Beautiful music. Love Slowdive.
I have watched over 100 times that concert. I even know Jehnny's questions by heart!
Thanks ARTE for shared this with us 👋👌👍🎸🎹
Fantastic! Saw Slowdive in 92 oe 93 in Toronto with Ride. Now bigger and better than ever.
Thank you, ARTE for this magnificent recording of this incredible Band! I'm gonna enjoy this one lots of times. ❤
this recording gives me the chills, damnnnnn
This music touches me that hard, that i am crying...😢
Shanty is such a fantastic song to open the show. Saw them in Boston. Thank you for this; reliving wonderful memories 💜🙏🙌💐
this sounds unbelievably good
Amazing! Such a perfect capture of their music ❤ Thank you for this exceptional quality!
Hello from Cincinnati, so very thankful for this beautiful show!!
You are the best live band ever! Saw you in LA last year and Amsterdam this year! I am a 90's fan & sooooo happy you are back !!! setting the bar real high
Avalyn is the best song. Love it.
incredible.....I saw Slowdive supporting RIDE and Chapterhouse in 1991 ....*(long time ago in a Galaxy Far Far away now it seems)....during the height of Shoegaze... in that interim period which was just post Madchester - Stone Roses/Mondays madness...and just prior to when the banality of Brit Pop took hold ....they were amazing then...but its awesome to see how they've developed over the years into this ethereal epic soundscape of beauty ...defo need to check them out again live soon 🙂
I saw that tour as well!
I saw them a few days ago - one of the most magical gig I have ever seen … it was really an incredible aural and visuel experience . I had the chance to take a picture with Neil at the end ! It added more magic to this night ❤
Thanks ARTe Thanks Slowdive for this journey
The logarithm fell into this one. I kept listening because you're good at keeping me interested. Really good at it. This is a wonderful sound experience you've all created. 🙋🏼♂️🎶🫶🏼
Love all the 'new' interpretations of the songs. ❤
I can't remember how i discovered Slowdive back in 1991. I knew The Cure & Cocteau Twins b/c our country's music channel played their videos. Noisier Shoegazer bands like Jesus & Mary Chain & My Bloody Valentine were introduced to me by Sonic Youth & Lou Reed who hyped them. I discovered Lush during Lollapalooza 92, but Slowdive is a still a mystery. Maybe a blind buy ?
Finally! Amazing band! Waiting to see Slowdive in Portugal!🖤
Merci Slowdive, merci Arte!
Merci Arte Concert ! Vous êtes trop fort !
Slowdive ❤!!!
I am obsessed with this ❤
And so do I!
Tbh, clicked on this thinking it was a song called 'Echoes' and Jehnny Beth was singing with them. Came for the collab, stayed for the solid setlist.
OMG thank you for bringing it baaaack!!
Amazing concert - amazing band! So glad they are back - and btw Boss did produce a reverb pedal already in 1987 -
Perfect, thanx a lot, slowdive!
--Your music makes me slow deeply in my mind. --
The engineers completely nailed this!! They are stunning enough but with the right sound mix they are even more ethereal
I was lately on a SLOWDIVE -CONCERT in Berlin . It was so awesome 🎉and fuckin' cool❗
me too 🥲
what a timeless music, blessed to get in touch with this band
I love it i am happy with this concert on youtube from Slowdive i can't stop with listening WOW
Its a vibe, man. Truly legendary.
Even better than the studio versions!
Thank you Slowdive, thank you ARTE!
We love you!
I have to agree that this is the best live recording of Slowdive I've heard. Brilliant quality!
Beautiful, thanks ❤
O som dessa banda é algo surreal!! É uma experiência espiritual ouvi-la!
Thank you!
