i learned that pyrite can be used for this by looking into wheel lock pistols. specifically a combined axe and wheel lock pistol in the wallace collection. extremely nifty

Good work mate😊 not many can work pyrite...I just got into using it with flint as a striker I didnt know you could use it with anything harder than it so I'm gonna start experimenting 😊 thank you for the content I just found your channel and im gonna sub to stick around 😊🙃🙃
I found out that when you hit it with high carbon steel it sends as many sparks as a Farrow rod.
High carbon steel is definitely best to use. It will shoot out far more sparks. The sparks won’t be as hot as a ferro rod though.

Agreed. We like to teach “big as your head or your fire’s dead”. Depending on your skill level, you might not need that much. However, in an emergency, you don’t want to risk the tender bundle not starting the larger twigs.
