I am 66 years old, and believe me, I believe you. For me, they are one of the best bands of recent years, if not the best. Shore is stunning. I love it
diamondshamrock ....awesome! Yes, so humble. He looks awkward on stage but that part of what makes him so endearing and approachable. One of today's greatest artists.
Fleet foxes just came to Tucson, and I as well was able to talk to Robin after the show and i completely agree, he is humble, and very genuine. He took the time to not only answer all of the questions his fans and myself had, but he himself asked us questions. Quality music, and higher quality person, cant wait to see what what the future has in store for FF
I remember chatting with him after a show. We were both so awkward. I didn’t really know what to say but either way I think we both understood each other. 😂
3:08 the crazy thing is I bet most of us would take Robin's "not good" songs and music as our own in a heartbeat. I know I would. I admire their music a lot
Saw them in Dallas last week! He has a good heart, you can tell. I love what Robin admitted: People dont come because of you personally, they are there for the music. Wisdom..
The dangers of doing such intense and serious music; these guys sound as burnt out and wary as members of a Radical Political Party ten years after they started The Movement. Also: I'm only 7 minutes into the interview but you can imagine the manager taking the interviewer aside, before they started, and saying, "Remember: do *not*, under any circumstances, mention *you know who*..."
Great, insightful interview as always. Thanks for uploading it here. Concert last Saturday in Toronto was one of the best if not the best concert experience I've ever had. Crack-Up is a triumph. Looking forward to their next album.
Great interview! I ve been in Las Vegas (Chelsea) show and I don't have enough words to explain how this music has became part of my life. Thanks FF. Greetings from Argentina!!!
Great to hear this! Interesting reflections on the creative process. Also interested in hearing about the actual music of the last album! So much unique musical stuff in the new record.
Tom did a great job overall. One piece of constructive criticism I would give is that relating context in art with the artist himself almost always defeats the point. The interviewer broke the #1 rule that unfortunately most interviewers do, and confused the author of the work with the speaker in the work. That is to say it is highly likely that Pecknold was not the speaker in the songs in either of his albums.
What he means is, he needed to expand his understanding so that he could write better music. He is obviously a very smart guy and his songs contain layers of truth ( good poetry is like that ) that we try so hard to explain on a daily basis. If we had it the world would be at peace and so for the individual the quest for more knowledge inside of different realms or subjects creates the truth within yourself. That truth inside is peace.
It's obvious Robin and Skyler are best friends, but the interviewer really put them in a rough spot... dwelling over the test of their friendship during the hiatus...
I kinda hate how they talk about how they would make the album different. I understand how they would pick it apart but it's what you gave me. And this is what I cherish as your finished artwork.
Robin has said in recent interviews that he wants to record another album and most likely tour that album too. From what he has said it seems he's really into making more music.
Welcome to Seattle WA.. where the locals socialize with each other on the streets by making awkward eye contact and quickly scampering away with a sheepish grin…
I feel like they could be visual thinkers. Especially Skyler. You can see him visualising his thoughts but having trouble putting them into words. I am pretty much the same, I have trouble finding the right words all the time because I think in pictures and mindmaps and I guess he does the same (looking at his hands, painting a mindmap on the table) Sry for my english btw😅

I'm 63 years old, and I know music. Believe me> This is one of the great bands in a very long time!
Yes. I always thought of FF as the new CSN&Y.
You are not wrong
Saw them two weeks ago in Portland Maine. Brilliant show. Robin is so shy and awkward, incredibly talented, and Crack-Up is a bloody masterpiece!

Skyler you are truth... simply... honest... authentic... Filled with love... don't change! pls... and by the way Crack-Up is your best album!

Tom, darling, you are a fucking unbelievable interviewer
Cheers! Passing that along...

I do kinda miss the Robin Pecknold who looked like a mountain-dweller from the Middle Ages...
he was rockin that all things must pass george harrison look
Pro tip: you can watch movies at Flixzone. Been using it for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.
@Lincoln Zaid Yup, have been watching on flixzone for since december myself =)
I miss twink babyface Skye
Glad to see that Skyler and Robin sticked to their style :D nice coincidence that they are wearing almost the same as in the interview from 2011

Mention who? Sorry I’m out of the loop
Ohhhh father John Misty
I could listen to robin's ASMR voice for hours tbh
What a fantastic interview! Would have listened those four extra hours. Cheers from Argentina!
Cheers back at you! Thanks for letting us know!
'I'm looking forward to being your friend :)'
SKYE IS SO CUTE ADJKLJDFG
mysterious production of eggs spotted ;)

This is bordering on couples therapy absolute bliss
please make a documentary film about you two climbing together
Skyler going for that Gyllenhaal Nightcrawler look.
I really like the lighting in your studio
Aw shucks, thanks! It's the magic glow of the china ball that gives it its power.

i could listen to you guys talk for another 4 hours
This is great, but I would love to watch an interview that has nothing to do with the break they took... just questions about "Crack-Up" !!
yeeeeeeeeeeeessss
Almost addicted to how awkward these interviews are
I feel like this was a less awkward interview than their last one here, even though they said less
yeah true
I love skyler. I met him at the concert and he is so cool. Thus explaining my profile photo lol
Might wanna put Skyler's name in the description too there Q.
Good idea!
Man, I'm 27 now and I'd have killed to have had success when they did
Best goddang interview ever, I subscribed because of this
Fantastic interview and an informative insight into those years between 'Helplessness Blues' and 'Crack-Up'
Cheers! Thanks for watching!
You're welcome!
It's obvious Robin and Skyler are best friends, but the interviewer really put them in a rough spot... dwelling over the test of their friendship during the hiatus...
Robin write a book
proper tension in the room here!
Thats groovy.
Great interviewer, one of the best FF talks I've heard.
"Skyler"
Ryan’s fingers were made for music!
who's Ryan?
I kinda hate how they talk about how they would make the album different. I understand how they would pick it apart but it's what you gave me. And this is what I cherish as your finished artwork.
#footballseason
How do you not ask about Josh Tillman? Also, to be fair, only listened to the first 5 mins... but seems like the biggest question nobody asks.
Damn. sounds like this might be their last album, don't know if anyone else is getting that vibe. that would be a damn shame..
It's not, they have no intention of breaking up again in the foreseeable future. Robin's already working on the next record.
Robin has said in recent interviews that he wants to record another album and most likely tour that album too. From what he has said it seems he's really into making more music.
I had the opposit feel, like the project of a new album is not too far.
I had the exact opposite feeling, actually. To me they seem refreshed and eager at the idea of this being only the beginning of Fleet Foxes Phase II.
eyyy, that's the good good news
These guys are not very good at talking
