Fishing is about adapting, what you are doing this year might not work next year, so I’m showing you the way to adapt and if you don’t like the new way, then I don’t know what to say. The old way don’t work as good now days because of fishing pressure. So be glad I’ve told you what I have because one day I won’t be here to teach.
Absolutely love your videos. I have live scope and started catching/ sniping with a cork as soon as I saw what depth they were at. All due to your excellent teaching. You are a great fisherman have a pleasant personality.
I've had livescope on my boat for a year now. Do I catch more fish with it, I definitely do. It eliminates dead water and tells me where fish actually are instead of wasting time on spots with no fish. I could catch fish without livescope but it's a lot more fun using it. I really want to say to you that you're a hell of a fisherman. I've watched your videos going back 5 years and all the fish you caught without ever having livescope in your boat. You didn't ever need or think you wanted livescope at the time but what a wonderful gift your friend Mario gave you. It's a totally different tool to fish and its fun to use. I'll be honest, I thought when you first got it you would struggle some seeing your jig, etc but you proved me wrong. In fact, one of the hardest ways to fish for crappie is open water when the fish are not grouped together and are just roaming single. You have already dialed them in on the pattern and that is super impressive. Those fish are usually skidish and easily startled but you have figured out how to catch them on that pattern. I laugh at the negative comments people write about livescope. They just don't realize it's not as easy as it looks. A lot of times the fish won't even bite and that's the frustrating thing, seeing it in real time. Watching you videos has helped my dad and I have more conversations today than we normally would. He's in his 80's and although he's mentally sharp, physically he can't go fishing anymore. We talk about your videos all the time and text each other when the new video comes out. It takes us back to the days when him and I were able to go together and had great times. I'm grateful for you and your channel. You and your channel are a huge positive in my life and I'm thankful you take the time to do it. I'm sorry for the long post but I wanted to let you know we appreciate you and always look forward to the next video.
Is comments like yours that makes me glad I started the old Fisherman RUclips channel my friend. God bless you and your dad and hope to see you and meet you one day. Thanks so much for watching my videos.
Thank you for sharing! Heard you say something about not seeing your minnow on the livescope. Not sure but I was having same problem. I had to adjust my TVG setting to low and in some instances turn it off to get it to show my bait and jig failing into the fish. Not sure what the setting does but it help me. You are one of the most enjoyable channels that I watch! I know it takes a lot to put these videos together but to some of us who work so much and can’t get out on the water as much, it helps to enjoy the experience with you! Stay safe and God bless you sir!
The Old Fisherman must have been a good 🏀 basketball player the way he hits that live well with them 🐟 fish shots. You bound to get some blood on the boat with such a fish slaughter going on...Layin it to em again !🤣👍✌
Old Walter is waiting out the cold front up here. Don't want to go in less than 32° , when my rod tip freeze i get frustrated. Going stir crazy. Thanks again for sharing and putting in the work
I just read some of the comments. It looks like someone had someone had a negative comment. Don't get rattled and i know it's hard not to. Sometimes those aren't even real people , i guess i was raised a little bit different. My parents always said keep your negative comments to yourself. And i had older brothers so you couldn't run your mouth to much 😆😆
You should look into using a TFO rods temple fork outfitters rods they are light weight and strong I thing you would like them..I got one of those 10' berkleys and love it...your technique is awesome!
Love your show seen most of them - would drive to South Carolina to go fishing with ya - where do you get 64th jigs - I guess I should have written it down when ya told it
Enjoyed the video! Heard you say something about hard to get fish out of the live well I was having the same problem and I found a small dip net at Walmart like you dip trout with when you are wading and it works really good. The handle and net all together might be 16 inches long and it’s small enough it will fit in the well little aggravating dipping but it beats the heck out of getting finned and getting a wet arm. Just a thought but I look forward everyday to watch you catching them slabs. Enjoy it!!
I gotta say I like the new boat and the live scope. But it's just not the same as it was when I first found you on you tube. I have gained so much knowledge about fishing with just the depth fish finder and jigging and the comalander swing. But I can't afford the live scope and I miss the old way you taught many people to fish.
It's about adapting with the times, because fishing changes every year. After I show my way and everybody starts using them the fish get harder to catch, so if you don't find new was to catch them you might be out of luck. If you don't like adapting with The Old Fisherman then we won't be able to put up new videos, and I will just keep on adapting without the cameras being on.
Makes sense you got to keep the channel going for sure . I just miss the old way of watching you. Maybe one day I will get to enjoy the live scope experience. In the mean time I will do it the old way the old fisherman taught me and use the comalander swing. I will keep on watching and maybe one day I will get a live scope given to me one day to. Loving life with the old fisherman.
Noticed the water was 61degrees. Shouldn't most those crappie be in much more shallow waters? Just curious. When it's 61, I'm in creeks and creek mouths
It won't be long with all these live scope fishermen that the limits will be lowered!! The biggest part of the fish caught right now are in the open water which, if you didn't have live scope very few of those fish would have been caught. During the spawn I'm sure it's even worse! Dale
Man I hope it never happens but I honestly believe lakes gonna start banning the scope cause in just a month of scoping I probably pulled in at least 300 pounds of crops hands down almost taking the fun out of catching em I said almost lol
He is right about the Engel bait cooler I have used one for years and it’s awesome. When it is a hundred degrees you can put a frozen gator aid filled with lake water and it will keep them cool for a 6 to 7 hour day
A lot of people talk trash about Livescope. Say they don’t need it not gonna get it then they get a Livescope. Then they eat crow. Nice fish in this video

Enjoyed the fine crappie. You make it look so easy. Cool to learn new ways of finding them. God bless
Thanks 👍
You got your Livescope fishing dialed in for sure!!!
CM
It's all about the distance and angle they are away from you because most of the time I can't see the jigs or minnow.
Love it! I can’t get enough crappie fishing 🎣 fun to catch and super tasty 😋
Same here!

The older Garmin LC10 it's a 93sv unit, I think.
Good video, Old Fisherman! Where do you have your gain set at on the Live Scope?
73 to 78
If u ever get to so Illinois hit me up we will go fishing
Thanks my friend, Will Do.
Noticed the water was 61degrees. Shouldn't most those crappie be in much more shallow waters? Just curious. When it's 61, I'm in creeks and creek mouths
The crapppie in Lake Monticello acting different because of the rising and falling water. It’s not the same as any other lake.
Take me with you
Only putty girls can get in my boat, LOL.
Have you ever fished in lake cumberland in monticello ky
Never been there.
Never been to Ky.
I like the new boat
So do I my friend, thanks for going fishing with The Old Fisherman.
Where is your transducer mounted
On the trolling motor.
@@theoldfisherman2040 soon as I ask you where I thought that was a stupid question for me to ask .
How is your new boat doing
Love it.
You're going to have some nice filets🙂
I think so too!

The limit is not but 20 now.
Do use ever use a bobber
I have some earlier videos using one.
Can't wait to see the striper on the livescope
In a few weeks.
Where is lake Monticello
South Carolina.
Man I hope it never happens but I honestly believe lakes gonna start banning the scope cause in just a month of scoping I probably pulled in at least 300 pounds of crops hands down almost taking the fun out of catching em I said almost lol
They selling too many of them they will not band them. You will not catch them all stay within the limits.

Old fisherman u keep some crappie to small it's 10inches. On those crappie.
You have lost your mind
Great video as usual old fisherman!
Glad you enjoyed it
Glad you enjoyed it
I miss you fishing for perch catching two/three at a time. I miss you stripper fishing but that’s hard on you, you said on one video.
Fishing is changing in South Carolina, the perch are not biting good this year. I got to fish for what I can catch right now.
Engel 19 qt bait cooler. It about the size of your cooler maybe smaller. Comes with a bubbler. I’ve had mine 6 years. Keeps em cool and lively
Thanks, my friend for the advice
He is right about the Engel bait cooler I have used one for years and it’s awesome. When it is a hundred degrees you can put a frozen gator aid filled with lake water and it will keep them cool for a 6 to 7 hour day
A lot of people talk trash about Livescope. Say they don’t need it not gonna get it then they get a Livescope. Then they eat crow. Nice fish in this video
That's for sure. Once you get the hang of it it's hard not to use it.
