  • In this video we show you how to record two way or group conversations from the Sena 20S Evo directly to the GoPro with GoPro Media Mod. After over a year riding across Africa we have finally figured out how to record our audio better. We hope this helps others get the right gear the first time.
We hope you enjoy following along on the journey. Feel free to comment with any questions. Remember to subscribe and give us a thumbs up if you like it, Cheers!

I watched at least 200 videos on how to get passenger intercom audio on my GoPro you folks are the first to mention SIDETONE, I got my helmet out made all the connections handed my wife her helmet ( she said not this again ) we did a quick 40 second video and as I was loading it onto the laptop I had serious doubt that it would work, well good googly moogly it works. thanks for mentioning SIDETONE other wise I was about to drop big $$$ on wireless mics.

That’s fantastic! We watched tons of videos and struggled trying to get our headsets to work recording group audio. Very happy to hear that our video helped you sort it out. I hope you’re having a great riding season! Thanks again for following along. Cheers!

Can you do a video on Motorcycle navigation, how you find amazing routes and navigate, do you use any navigation devices... otherwise we miss you videos

Thank you for watching Advlife! That's a great idea. Quick answer is we take a look at Google Maps, iOverlander, and Tracks for Africa to do route planning. We also talk to the locals around the area to get the latest road condition and info.
We're putting out a ride around the Rocky Mts soon so stay tuned. Cheers!

Can I use the Sena mic and speakers or do I need external ones for the 3.5mm cord to hook up with?

Hi Christian thanks for watching. You need separate speakers and a splitter then turn on sidetone in your settings. This will allow you to record the conversation coming from your mic and your headphones. Hope that helps. Cheers!

Thanks for the info. I'm guessing you ride with earplugs? Are the speakers still audible with earplugs?

Thanks for commenting Going Nowhere Slowly. Yes, we mostly ride with earplugs because of wind noise. The speakers are loud enough to hear over the wind and engine but you need to make sure that the headphones are placed directly next to your ears. Let us know if you have any other questions. Cheers!

Hey, when you mention you used older Sena’s what model were you using? I have a Sena 10s, do you know if that model has the inputs needed? (Am on a work trip so not home to look at my setup to see) thanks

We had a Sena 5 & 10 before. They have MP3 inputs not auxiliary headphone inputs. To record group audio, you need to connect aftermarket phones into the Sena. You also need to disconnect and remove the original Sena headphones. When you turn on the side tone in the Sena app setting, you can hear yourself talking just slightly in your own own helmet. This enables the GoPro not only to record the other person you’re hearing, but also yourself. We have Sena Evo 20s now that have the auxiliary headset inputs, but I’m not sure what other models do, but that is what’s critical. Apparently Bluetooth mesh may record audio a little easier, but we haven’t used the mesh headsets. I hope that helps. Thanks for falling along. Cheers!
