    This is really interesting alternative to reverb cascade, great idea. I haven't played for a year but this looks promising to make small ships viable vs big3 shield tanks. I'll be curious to try this on my DBS this autumn. Keep up the good work vs the feds o7

    Hope you don't mind a bit of storytime!
    So I just switched over from an Xbox to PC (with HOTAS) and made my new character, finished the tutorial that isn't included in the Xbox edition and went to a low security RES to scrape enough credits to buy a mining laser and refinery for the ol' sidewinder.
    Ended up taking out (with the help of the ever vigilant system authority) 300k worth of bounties in ten minutes.
    The HOTAS is a real game changer!
    Anyways I floored it back to station, buried all my mining ambitions, threw away the shovel and got a MKIII Viper.
    Now I'm going around the good old interwebs to ask the more experienced and seasoned Viper pilots what weapons/tips would you advise a new commander to take? Thanks for your help !

      Nik Savage greetings. Thanks for dropping by.
      There’s a lot of factors that goes into ship outfitting.
      Because the viper is a small ship, it’s limited on everything across the board. Therefore, you must commit the ship to perform a very specific task, maximizing all components and engineering to accomplish that task. It won’t be able to do everything you want, it just need to be good at that one thing.
      In this case, my viper, or this variant, is built on the Flechette as it’s main weapons platform. Therefore it’s a close range fighter. As such, close range knife fight, you’re bound to get cut. So hull is maxed out. Drives also optimized for max agility. A lower powered Biweave shield, acts as a constant buffer despite multiple times it breaks during combat.
      What’s it purpose? PVE or PVP, Power Play patrol or bounty hunter, or griefer.
      Tactics: HullTank/Stealth, or Hybrid, or pure Shield Tank.
      Combat style: close range vs long range.
      Find Our Discord channel. Lavigny’s Legion. Look for SpectralFx or Replicant. They will guide you more deeper into the build. Let them know you saw my video and referred you to them. Cheers.

    5.5KCr bounty for murder?!!! Only 5.5KCr? Some C&P ED has!
    And PvPers go on about the risk involved in Open. The golden rule is don't fly with no rebuy money - PvPers will surely follow that rule: where's the risk then?
    Na'Qan, what's the maximum bounty you've had on your head?
    How many bounty hunter Commanders have you had after you?
    Good videos - keep'em coming.

  • @rurallawwildwest9679

    All big ships are useless in open as any medium ship and many small ships equipped for PvP will easily destroy them...Only useful in PvE unless you don't mind the (far too often) rebuy. Big ships are a liability (and joke) in open based on their cost and the FDs constant nerfing of ways to make credits. If you want to use one, better be in a wing with lots of support.

      Exactly you think about it you won't see an aircraft carrier out by itself it has a squadron you shouldn't even see the aircraft carrier it should be somewhere firing at you from a distance

    When you created this video? Shields are not damage by fletchets after the patch 3.1.1

    • @INMATE2468
      @INMATE2468 6 лет назад +6

      Egor Dibroff he damaged the Powerplant not sheildds. If enough damage is done to a powerplant it halfs the powercapacity. Most CMDRs dont have the right Priority set up incase this happens, and so shields almost always go out.

    • @CMDRNaQan
      @CMDRNaQan  6 лет назад +1

      Harbinger I was worried for a minute . I thought 3.1.1 removed the flechette effects. But yeah, flechettes never ever did any damage to shields, even since it’s release.

      They don’t drop, but in some rare cases, I’ve seen. Fee dozen tons of Sodium Chloride float around after an explosion.

      Ozram Blue I actually didn’t have to grind at all. Much of the requirement can be traded up or down. Just have to unlock it once.

      This build only really works against newer players in large ships. It's very good at that, but against an engineered vette with module reinforcement you would fail.

    • @CMDRNaQan
      @CMDRNaQan  6 лет назад

      Nug it depends size and quality of the MRP. Experienced Cmdr dedicating to full shield tank ship, no matter how big that ship is, if packed full of , boosters and banks are most susceptible. Those Cmdrs becomes over confident with the pool of MJ that a few flechettes will disable their ship.
      As I mention before, majority of the pilots out there rarely equips MRPs, regardless of experience or combat rank. This ED community are heavily dependent in keeping their shields intact, no many can fight without shields.
      There is a counter to everything. MRP is one of them against flechettes, however, counters are mostly equipped when your expecting a specific type of attack. Since it’s very rare to be attacked the a flechette ship, most people won’t be properly fitted to protect against it. Majority of the combat ships mainly had lasers and MC.
      It’s pointless to go toe-toe in my viper equipped with beams and Miki cannons against a big ship stacked with MJ. That opponent is well protected against my type of attack. It will take forever to break it, and when I do break it they’ll probably wake out before I can do any significant hill damage. The flechttes answers these. Instant malfunction. Go for the plant.
      Small ships with MRPs won’t help either, not enough MRP health to sustain the ammo in flechettes. Despite being limited, once MRPs go, there’s still plenty to disable a plant.

    • @nuggytube
      @nuggytube 6 лет назад

      True, the majority of CMDRs really don't know how to fly well, how to set power priorities, how to build a ship properly, etc. Makes for easy prey. My point still stands, for a decent pilot with a fair amount of knowledge, you have zero chance. But it makes for nice videos at least. I personally run 2 x 5D MRPs and have 4,500 hull and 4,000mj shields. And fixed weapons on my vette. If you like you could try and flechette me to death and see how that video turns out? :) I'm not attacking you or anything. I like the vids man. o7

    • @CMDRNaQan
      @CMDRNaQan  6 лет назад

      Nug Id probably switch over to Cascade Mine launching ship or Cascade torpedoes. Double MRP def a hard counter. But rarely anyone packs that money unless they’re expecting me or other flechette ships. You probably sacrificed extra HRPs or Banks to counter my build. Then I’ll DPS ships for support

  • @1140hopeful
    @1140hopeful 5 лет назад +1

    Why does nobody seem to prioritize their modules power??? Wtf 78% PP damage and he loses it all. You all can get your power plants down to 0% and still have 50% power, enough for your thrusters and FSD. I swear if 90% of these players just did that you would run out of ammo before they lost shields. Props for the kills but this is just silly.

    • @CMDRNaQan
      @CMDRNaQan  5 лет назад

      1140hopeful good thing is 90% of the players don’t expect to have their power plant damaged while shields are online. I take advantage of this false sense of security.
      Besides power management, MRPs and Point defenses increases protection against these flechettes

    • @CMDRNaQan
      @CMDRNaQan  5 лет назад +1

      Also, once your power plant begin integrity falls below 80% there’s an RNG chance of a 4sec total malfunction before providing you back with 50% output.
      Before flechettes power priorities for shield generators weren’t set to 1. Usually set to 3 or 4. Because power plants usually began taken damage once shields are gone anyways so Priority then was to ensure drives and FSD had priority to escape. With flechettes it’s reversed. Better to lose fsd first and other non essentials before shields loses power. It’s a very tricky situation and a very unique encounter to be prepared for. So it’s makes this tactic very effective.

    • @1140hopeful
      @1140hopeful 5 лет назад

      @@CMDRNaQan Huh, I didn't know about the random malfunction. Right now my shields on big ships are group 2, boosters and weapons group 3, non- combat group 4 but I might fit my bi-weaves into group 1 if these malfunctions are a common thing. Good to know.

    • @CMDRNaQan
      @CMDRNaQan  5 лет назад +1

      1140hopeful I been searching for the article in the forums that explained the changes to the power plant. Before that patch ships instantly exploded when at 0%. The new changes made it so there’s an RNG for explosion at 0% and RNG for malfunction at 80-85%. Each hit to the plant is a very small RNG for explosion or malfunction even at 100%.
      I’ve seen ships blow up to my surprise at much higher integrity by very very rare.
      The threat of the flechette is also very rare. Power priorities against flechettes is different than non-flechette builds. This is why I’m able to win most of these fights because you almost have to anticipate that I’ll be in system and attacking you to be prepared. Truth is PAs and Rails remain the biggest threat, so most pilots set up their ships against those, not expecting plant to be damaged while shields are up. My flechette builds fill that tiny niche, that blind spot on pilots that are expecting the usual weapons.

      @@CMDRNaQan The more you know... if you ever come back to elite you should consolidate some of this information, facts like reverb damage for each torpedo or mine, deep cut torpedo, how breaching works, effect combinations (ion disruptor/reverb mines) I see you already did one on ship emissions. Hard stats on experimental effects and quantity needed for certain targets, this information is missing from coriolis so the only way you would know it is from a ton of pvp. Does ecm cause torpedoes to reacquire closest ship after 2 seconds? (still cant find the answer to this one)

      The Devs ruined the game when they added the authoritie defense and crime and punishment system. Its why i lost interest in the game, elite just isn't dangerous anymore. It used to be a risk/thrill of being on the back end of a mission or something other and the chance of encountering another player.
