I absolutely admire what you are doing for African music. Gives me great joy when I see foreigners show love to afobeats. it really encourages us to do better; thank you! can you please do a review for rebutted ft falz, bad gang? I absolutely love that song. Also, tell me what u think about any of 2face songs
Howdy, you got me cracking up. Here's the deal, it's real commercial, highlife/ Afrobeat fusion, overly synthesised. Sounds somewhat juvenile, but Naija folk like to usher in the spring and summer, with that kind of "We are going on a summer holiday..." nursery rhyme vibe... Just before the heavy hitting hip-hop joints land. Thanks for humoring the request, sorry for putting you through it, lol, you got some slick moves btw. Looking forward to more of your uploads.
+Afrobeatzz Official Your Olamide impression was on point. Lol, it's now imprinted on my subconscious for life. Keep doing your thing. Much love and respect.
I loveee what you are doing!!! keep up the GREAT work! You crack me UP! one love. I'm #Liberian. And Rude Rude things is a really good song. you should check out SHAKE YOUR WAIST by G-Rize
+Lady_ D Thanks for the message and support! Really appreciate it, these should get funnier the more confident I get :) Will check out the song for sure, thanks for the suggestion
Really great thing you're doing here! Check out Sauti Sol...every song they release is top notch. There's this new one called Unconditionally Bae featuring Ali Kiba...you should try out the dance tutorial at the end :)
Sorry for the essay....... Stumbled upon this and I think what you are doing is great, appreciate every beat of it. Just to give you a heads up, I think your channel is gonna get big some day and will bring haters along, especially with the ratings you give the music. I know its from your perspective as an European, but you should also consider the point of view of the market the song is made for when rating the music. What am trying to say is, the market demands certain type of music across the board either from north, east, west Africa. 1. How great is the beat? 2. Can you dance to the beat.... almost necessary 3. Catchy lyrics 4. Another language.. other than English 5. Traditional core values (marriage, cheating, grass to grace, work, Spirituality, family, respect, love, peace, freedom etc) 6. Comic.. ability to laugh All of these, in an African song is not a must, but most of it is important, and not to say the continent does not like mundane things like (sex, drug, money, "bitches" etc) cos they do, its just people gravitate towards the previous stuff than the later. While R&B, the typical hip hop rap might succeed and be given high ratings in say a western world, it will be difficult to break through in African market singing those type of songs, because the market wants to DANCE, no1 priority, due to certain life issues, they prefer dance type music, where they can laugh, be happy, don't take things to seriously and just forget their sorrows for a while. A song like standing ovation might receive like a 9 rating because it ticks almost all those criteria. Infusing both cultures will be great and very few artist have been able to do that so far. So what am saying in essence is that, you should consider both African & European POV when rating the music. Would like to see you review iyanya, yemi alade, flavor, kiss daniel, burna boy, 2face, fally ipupa, toofan, dj arafat etc and different African music including Congolese, south African and so on..even if you don't understand some of the lyrics. As for translating the lyrics, the thing is, not all what they say has English words for it, most are slangs and when you translate them literally, the meaning of the song gets lost and thats because they speak in "proverbs" most of the time, so you can't take some, not all of their lyrics literally, otherwise it won't make sense. example is oliver twist by dbanj, at face value, people might think hes singing about having all women, or women wanting all men but the core of it is that, he's basically talking about him not satisfied with African market even thou, he has conquered it, he wants to conquer Europe, and the world at large and hes not satisfied with where he was, and so he's proudly an oliver twist because he wants and will always want more.
+terms conditions to add.. olamide's part where he said "kini bolo, keji bolo, pan bolo, tun bolo, wan bo no ni"..lool, literal translation is meaningless except you understand the language, then you will really get what he's saying... I guess it rhymes as well
+terms conditions Thanks so much for the support and really appreciate the advice! It could get big but just need to find the time to do it which is the problem but will try and get there! I completely understand what you're saying, I'm just trying to rate the songs in my own opinion and if people think differently then that is great because it starts a debate and that's what I want. My problem is I could easily rate most songs 10 haha, so I just do it to mix it up a little and ones that maybe I personally don't find quite as good I can rate lower. I am mostly focusing on my instagram right now and trying to start the youtube up slowly. instagram.com/afrobeatzz I'm trying to cover as much as possible east, south and west so that I can put a good mix out there :) I'll take your advice on board though and really appreciate it!
