This channel is a goldmine! Thank you so much for making this content for free, it is really wonderful and high quality lessons
So much better than some paid courses on this subject! It is great that this content is accessible for free.
Totally agree. Thanks Mr Birmingham
i disagree
agreed it's a great channel
@@user-de2jl7uy4p disagree to agree. hes a great guy he made videos that are accesible for free so we cant just spend money for courses plus he has made only 90 videos and he already made 117k subscribers while you only made 2 frickin videos
Thank you so much for such hard work and dedication you have put into this series. Really very helpful.
Terrific channel, especially now when we should all be at home, making the fun and wonderful things we have always wished we had more time for.
Your teaching style is so easy to follow and I'm looking forward to making these with my kids, bring on the rainy days! ❤️❤️❤️
OMG,, this is truly fascinating, and the ideas I am conjuring up in my mind,,,,,I especially like the way you show finished examples from story books with the parallel papers attached to the V-Folds. I have a huge project ahead of me, and I've been putting off with dread. You've now got me all ready and rarin' to go! Please keep teaching with more ideas and guidance. You are great teacher, and you explain things with a soft approach. Thank you
i love these tutorials, they are so easily understandable and you have such a very sympathetic personality. so nice to listen too. i came for the popups and stayed for mr birmingham. thanks alot, master of the v-folds!
Thank you so much!
hes bad
What a wonderful channel. I'm so glad I discovered it. It was very difficult to find though and it also says on your homepage (strangely enough) you have no videos. I saved everything to (watch later) so I could find you again. That might explain the small amount of views. The information given here is better than any of the card making videos I've been watching on the subject.

Thank you for sharing these videos! Just perfect to keep me sane during this lockdown.
Thank you so much for giving us access to your precious knowledge.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!!! I was not privileged enough as a kid to afford many books, much less pop-up, which I was entranced by. Now as an adult, I'm gonna make my own! Thank you so much for your videos!
This series is fantastic ahh. You're such a good teacher and I love that you show us real examples of popup all throughout the video. Great job! If only these tutorials were available when I was doing my pop-ups for graduating art school 😂
Thank you.

I really like how you repeat to reinforce instruction and concepts; saves going back to previous tutorial, and appears this will happen through all..cool bananas!

thankyouuu
Can I just say I’ve discovered just your channel and your tutorials are brilliant. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I will watch all your videos. super educational
The number of videos has slowly increased over several years. When we started the channel we hadn't planned that it would become so extensive - so it's rather sprawling and not recorded in a totally logical order. You might find it helpful to have a look at the playlists as these give a little bit of guidance.
@@thepop-upchannel4919 thank you, when I get back to work I'll surely buy your book
Loving these lessons, thank you
It's really beautiful the way you teach. Thank you very much for your generosity.🤩
Everything from presentation to music to tutorial are top notch. Thank you for making these.
Thank you.
Dear Duncan
Thank you for these videos. I have just purchased your book and I am looking forward to its delivery. I have tried making pop up flowers before and cocked it up which led to a lack of confidence. I now look forward to trying again when I have watched more of your videos and practised something simpler. Thanks again.
I hope they turnout really well this time!
Tutorial 2 watched. Again thankyou SO much. I'm looking forward to creating!
Thank you for these tutorials. I've been trying to understand paper mechanics for years, and you make it so clear and obvious. I've started making books and would love to incorporate pop-ups into some of them. This course - plus your book, which I've ordered - are a real boon. I wish I'd found them sooner.
Excellent!
again, some very fine examples here and tutorial... thank you
Bought both of your excellent books!
Thank you so much, I really liked the way you have explained ❤️🌻

Thank you. This is so fab!
Hi Duncan I love your very clear tutorials and book on pop ups, however I have a question which I am hoping you can answer.
Is it possible to devise a mechanism that lifts a rectangle strip up along the edge of a card which is to one side and at right angles to the Central Valley? I am sure this is not possible as I have tried several ideas which just haven’t worked. The problem is I want to raise up walls running along the three edges of the right hand side of a card project I am making. All I have managed so far is to raise up one wall along the opposite side of the cards central valley using a pull tab system. While this effectively raises one wall, its not very satisfactory as the pull tab rather inelegantly sticks out of the cards spine and also this only solves the problem of the one edge of the card. I cannot find away to fold away the edges at the right angled corners whilst still allowing the walls to be lifted in place upon opening the card. I have a feeling that this may not be possible judging by the rules of pop up! However as I am a bit ornery and all too willing to flog a dead horse until someone tells me to stop, I thus thought I would consult the master. Then at least you can put me out of my misery!!!🥴
Many thanks in advance for your time and any advice you can offer.
Sarah
Hmmm... a tricky problem..... I haven't got a simple solution.... you could try looking at Tutorial 75 - the mechanism does lift up bits at the sides of the page, I think it would still work without the arch. It's not an elegant solution but it might be a atarting point to experiment with.
This is amazing! Thank you so much for your tutorials
Guay. Muy buen canal, todo tan sencillo y tan bien explicado. Gracias

Amazing.
Thank you very much!
I need really it.
Hi, thank you sooo much for the tutorial! I didn't know you can learn to do pop-up like this! It is like the reveal of the magic trick to me!
Could you please recommend specific glues to use (brand + code)? Because they do not always say on the box if it is solvent-based or not. And the exact one that you used seems to be out of production in Europe. Thanks!
Almost any glue will work well. I prefer solvent based but some people don't like it because of the smell. The glue I use is UHU All Purpose Adhesive - I think it's available on Amazon - I have found other glues that I like even more but they're not available in UK. Probably best to experiment and find which glue you like best.
Great introduction.. Thanks
Hello sir, the way you talk is a little hard for non-English like me, but your videos are way useful to ignore that little issue. Thank you so much.
very good channel!
Very nicely explained

Hi, thanks for this channel, I admire your work. What you think about using liquid silicone? Cause I've never found that solvent based glue here where I live.
I've never tried liquid silicone - really any glue will work - they all have slightly different qualities so probably best to just experiment.
Hello! I am a huge fan of your channel, I really appreciate you putting all these helpful videos on youtube! I have always loved pop-ups, but, until I found your channel, all I knew about making them was the little I could figure out on my own. So your videos have been really helpful!
If I may, I do have a question: how does the strength of the paper come into play? Recently, I've been using thick construction paper for my popups. I tried to make right angle V-fold with a parallelogram coming off of it, but I think it was too much weight for the v-fold because it was not capable of forming the right angle. I imagine this may in part be due to the weight of the paper in the parallelogram and perhaps even the weight of the paper in the V-fold, as it was a rather large V-fold (about 6 inches on one side of the spine). So how do you determine where to use what strength paper? Should I have used thin construction paper for parallelogram? Does the strength/thickness of the base page matter? Is construction paper the wrong material for this - should I be using cardstock?
You need to use card not paper - ideally as rigid as possible - 160 - 240 gsm. The bigger the pop-up the more strong the card has to be. If you're making a very small pop-up, paper would be ok. Also, make sure all the fold lines are very very well creased before gluing. Hopefuly the information in Tutorial 1 will help.
Очень впечатляет. Спасибо
Love your channel!
Thank you! After viewing several other tutorials, this is where I stopped. Now I can finish the birthday card, I'm making. :)
