The Gripen one surprised me, since I thought I knew a decent amount about that aircraft but I had never heard that sound before. Still got it right by pure luck though
9/10, only one i didnt get was the typhoon because i was expecting that distinctive almost "blue note" kind of noise it produces at mid/low thrust range so i went for the F-22 due to the deeper afterburner sound that would usually come from a larger diameter jet engine. I think one underappreciated fact is how genuinely unique both the Merlin and Apache sound. The apache has a very low "bassy" tail rotor sound, meanwhile the Merlin is very quiet but has that distinct chirping sound i presume is the swashplate arm.
You know your Aircraft, Top Effort! Know what you mean by the typhoon "blue noise" a brillant sound for sure! Indeed the Apache is bassy tail roter wise, but does has a small "chirp" as it were from the main rotor blades. Glad you enjoyed, thinking of another quiz, so stay tuned!
Got 9/10 only one i got wrong was the C130 as i guessed the A400 as i wasnt sure which of the 2 it was as i haven't heard many of each up close but did surprise my self with a few
When you don’t need the gun hint to know its a a-10 thunderbolt ii. 9/10 got the Eurofighter wrong. Funny thing is i was so close to seeing that aircraft flying so many times, but only seen it parked at our airport. And it wasn’t for an airshow either.
i was like mhh its not the F-15 and i said to myself that i could be the F-22 but then i just remembered its the EUFI because i was live there and yes as you saw the quiz yes i was right cs like we have tag der bundes wehr what mensa that bases all around germany can be visited by public and now im nuper happy :)

Yeah that one surprised me as well. They should name that plane the whistler. I knew that sound didn't match the others in that sample.
