    I love watching kickers make adjustments. Probably the only kicker to skim both uprights in a game.

      I was in the end zone at the double doink game. Cody Parkey? Hit the left Upright, then crossbar and back toward the field, I believe. He also hit an upright straight on, earlier in the game.

      Did yall realize how high the ball was as it passed by the post? It literally skimmed the directional weather flag hanging at the top of the post. From 53 yards out, to still be at that elevation going through the post means he could've kicked a 65 yarder probably

    Bates won the game but it was thanks to the Lions defense playing lights out that it was kept close enough for a comeback in the first place. They definitely need most of the credit

      As bad as Goff was for the first 3 quarters, I think he deserves a lil credit for getting them into FG range to win the game. He did the same thing in the Vikings game with like a minute left on the clock. And obviously his receivers were icing on the cake

      completely perfect lol the inside line of the hash marks is in a straight line with the inside of the goal posts. These were actually 2 of the greatest kicks ever done. If not THE 2 greatest.

    Bates is the Cinderella story, played 1 yr HS, never kicked a FG in College as KO specialist, the only reason he was given a chance to kick a FG in the UFL was it was too far for the No.1 kicker (64 yds).

      Arkansas had Jake Bates as a backup to the now starting panther's kicker Cam Little.
      And now Arkansas is barely 50% on FG for the year and miss both of these guys terribly. Arkansas would easily have 2 more wins if either guy was still on the team instead of in the NFL.

      But more importantly he gave thanks to God & Jesus for making those FG's , he would have never made them w/o their help. If CJ Stroud would win this game , he would have also thanked Jesus Christ our Savior for accomplishment . Good to see athletes speaking out about our faith. ✝️

    I'll say this - I never once thought the Lions were going to lose that game. Quite a change seeing as I spent all of the 90s, 2000s, and 2010s expecting the Lions to blow 30 point leads.

      There's still that lingering SOL doubt. But it hasn't been 'shut off the TV and work on a project' doubt like in the past. It was just waiting for that one play to spark the team. Coming out in the second half like that... glued to the couch. BNL. LFG!
      Believe me or not time. Fairbairns kick. My friend looks at me and asks "You think he makes it?" I said, "Psh. On the hash... wide right." Goes wide left (screen right). I'll take that. Jake lines up both times... no doubts at all. He showed the potential in the UFL. Fipp is a stud. Fox is a stud. Hogan tossing dimes his first year. A little patience showed that Bates will be here for years.

    Traditionally, the Lions have usually had great kickers. From Eddie Murray to Jason Hanson and now Jake Bates. As a previously disillusioned Lions fan, I'm pretty excited now! And it all started with compentent ownership, finally. Thank you Sheila Ford Hamp!

    I went to many home games when Jake was with the Detroit Panther's.
    He was just amazing then and is amazing now!
    I'm so glad the Detroit Lions have him.

    Game had the intensity of a playoff game . Had to admit after the first half was over I was reminded the way Detroit's O line played of the old Lions teams that went nowhere ,Couldn't run or pass block ,but the second half seemed to wake up and play with speed to give them a chance.First half they seemed to have cement shoes .All of them .

    I watched him with the panthers in the ufl and knew he was destined for the NFL. So glad my lions picked him up so he can keep kicking at ford's field, just in a different uniform. After Hanson and prater, we needed our next guy. I think we found him.

    Just goes to show you that because the hash marks are in line with the width of the uprights, when you kick the ball straight , you can't miss ! The NFL is easier than the NCAA !

    This game reminded me of the 2014 NFL International game in London when the Lions were down 21-0 to the Falcons at half time and made a remarkable comeback in the second half where the whole game went down to a last second field goal by the Lions. The kicker missed, everyone gasped and thought the Falcons had won but then a flag was called on the defence and the Lions kicker got a second chance... and scored! I was there watching it all behind the goalpost and it's still one of the best games of the international series that I have been to!

    Had a 13 leg parlay, hit all my player props, which there was 5 of, hit the spread on 4 games and it all came down to lions money line, what I thought was the most sure thing of the entire ticket and then I was on disbelief after the first half, like no way this is gonna go down like this and after all that blow the ticket and then the second half and the kick to tie it, holding them scoreless and the kick to win it as the clock ran out, my wife and I were in bed jumping up and down. We won’t forget this one for a long time. Was absolutely insane. All I can say to the kicker is THANK YOU!!!!!!

      the offense needs to become more consistent but other than that they played well.
