I've never been to Greece before, but this experience is one I'll never forget. I never really understood the hatred between these 2 countries til I walked into the Karaiskakis!

Welcome mate to our country and in our Temple. I hope you had good times here. Back in the days Karaiskaki's ambience was 10 times more than what you experienced in game against Turks. We have been through a lot in our ultras section the last decade. The hatred towards Turks is something that goes back almost thousands of years ago and it's difficult to surpass it. however, progress has been made for better relations but the wounds are still open after the destruction of Smyrna and the annihilation of Greeks in modern day Turkey!
Fun fact: Karaiskakis which is the name of the home ground of Olympiacos was actually a person and an important one. Was a national hero of the independence war and was killed by Turks in the area where the stadium is located. With this name in our home ground we can't show mercy to Turks ;)

I’m an American, not the biggest watcher of soccer but I find it to be so interesting with how big it is that there are so many clubs to watch, I mean take a trip to any country and Europe and you’ll find an incredible atmosphere for a match. I went to Greece last year in September for my Aunt’s birthday and it was truly incredible. I went to Santorini so I wasn’t able to see any matches in Greece like AEK, PAOK, Olympiacos, Panathinakos or anything but as an overall sports fan I wanted to buy a shirt, the only shirt I could find that wasn’t fake was an AEK shirt, so naturally I bought it and I’ll support AEK, but to see any team from Greece perform so well in Europe is incredible and I’ll be rooting for the Olympiacos the rest of the way. To all my Greek brothers I chew on your teams and hope y’all know Greece is a wonderful country 🇺🇸🤝🇬🇷
Football creates some amazing stories as the story of the Olympiakos 21 years old goalkeeper Tzolakis, who is in the team for many years, most of the time not in the 1st team, but the last month got his chance to play, after Pashalakis injury and saved 3 penalties at the end! The 3d was from penalty specialist Bonucci, that have given so many qualifications in his career to Juventus & Italy! Bonucci ends this year his career and Tzolakis career is just beginning, with THIS last save! WOW... This kid was super calm, extremely confident and at 21 gave the club the most historic qualification in Olympiakos history!!! What a great football story!

I love how ignorant are most Europeans about the Turkish - Greek topics.
Most people think that if we meet abroad, we are going to argue because of our politicians (whom we usually laugh about). Meanwhile, when Turks and Greeks meet abroad, we both have a great time together since we vibe quite a lot.
Thogden, as a Greek-American who loves your videos I'm so happy to finally see the spectacle of Greek football featured. This in combination with the history between Greece and Turkish is told really well, and I do hope you'll come back, maybe for the derby of eternal enemies in Athens or for the derby of Thessaloniki. I will also point out that the Greek super league is currently one of the most competitive leagues at its summit in Europe, with the top 4 teams separated only by 6 points!

As a Greek and a fan of Olympiacos, I can assure you that the atmosphere and celebrations would be exactly the same intensity, any country team and if Olympiacos faced in games that would lead him to the semifinals of the international event. It was not the "national" element that gave the tone, but the fact that both we Greeks and the Turks are crazy with our teams

The real Karaiskakis, the person the stadium is named after, was a general of the Greek Independence war and was killed by Turks during a battle. His grave was very near to the original Karaiskakis stadium. The current one was rebuilt before the 2004 Olympics. This definitely adds to the animosity.
My father is Turkish and my mother side is Greek (Crete, Hania); therefore, I always feel like I'm a half Turkish Greek man who supports Fenerbahçe. Besides, I was there 2 days ago and the atmosphere we created has been the best one so far. However, we are so upset due to the result, even we had accepted the defeat when Fred was substituted by our coach. Nevertheless, good luck on finals Olympiacos, thinking that Villa will be a champion without a doubt.
