Nice review and channel. Any chance you could tell me if it has any neck dive at all? I've never played a SG style guitar without it and have shoulder issues that make it a deal breaker if it dives...THANKS
I bought one, not at all expecting to fall in love. I just thought it would look cool hanging on the wall. $170 is a low price to pay for art. Now I own 3 Racers and one Helios. Other than having to file down the nut on all of them and tighten all the loose nuts, and just a most basic setup, Westcreek guitars are amazing!! I should add - the pickups are rather microphonic. But for the weirdness I tend to make, that is a plus. I've made one of them my dedicated beater, and so far, it can really take a beating. Can't wait to see what they come up with next!
Thanks for the video, I love the yellow SG copy. I bought the West Creek blue telecaster copy last week and the quality is amazing. Was $222.00 plus tax and free shipping on TEMU. ($299.99 on AMAZON) Cheers, Jamie 🙂🇨🇦
The verify if the nut is bone or plastic. Just take a sowing needle and heat it it till it is red. Then try and poke into the side. If the needle sinks into the nut, it is plastic. If not, it is either bone or some kind of hard material like graphite or or a hybrid material with graphite in it.
I have the Westcreek DC in pink and I expected it to be an okay guitar, but it exceeded my expectations and I was impressed by the finish and feel. I have thought of getting the one in this review because I like the yellow and and so happy with the one I have. Kudos to Westcreek for building a budget guitar that exceeds expectations.
Great review! I have a number of “high end” guitars (mostly telecasters) I recently picked up a westcreek DC (les Paul Jr.) and I’m blown away by it. I’ve played it live a few times now and get more compliments from it then any of my other customs shops that cost 25 times the price.
Yeah, I really like my DC Junior style w/p90. Baby blue. It's just great. I never tried a p90 guitar before, so, I figured for $180, (now, I've seen even lower prices), it's worth a try. And I am amazed! Just like your Racer, fit and finish is great. Playable right out of the box. So, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go play it right now. Thanks. 😄
I actually wanted to get the DC before I chose this one but didn't because I already have a Junior style guitar with P90s...I didn't have an SG. I'd still like to try one though....
I have The Red Version. It is an amazing Guitar for the price. I bought it because I had a set of lonely humbucker sized P90s. I was so pleasantly Surprise at the quality of the guitar when I got it. I did put in the P90s but the humbuckers were serviceable.
i just bought a westcreek cerberus, it was really cheap so i thought it was a good deal for a first guitar. it ships in in like a week so hopefully its good
Good day sir, I’m a fellow canadian guitarist who collects budget guitars because I can’t afford Gibsons. My most expensive is an Epiphone Firebird I bought at Long and McQuade for $1022 after tax. I have another Epiphone, this one much cheaper, a Les Paul Special. My only guitar that I have only one of is a Westcreek DC (double cut), their version of if a dbl cut Gibson Melody Maker had an encounter with a telecaster. Single P90 style pickup, it’s very reminiscent of Joan Jett’s main guitar, also a Gibson Melody Maker. In about 10 days, I’m driving to PEI to buy 6 more Westcreek guitars, so I’m looking forward to that. Meantime I’m having some work done on a few of my 6 Firefly guitars. All of them FFSP (Les Paul styled), 5 Elite “Bats” and a Classic. Of the 6 Westcreek’s I’m getting on the first is the yellow Racer just like yours. I like the offset body, kind of like the LTD, except the accented horn on theirs is on the top. With the bottom horn accentuated on the Racer it almost reminds me a bit of a Mosrite like Johnny Ramone played. Super cool. I’ll getting another white DC and then I’m getting 2 Revenges and 2 Cerebus 3’s.
@@LonelyRocker Yeah, it is. Aside from the Epiphone Les Paul Special, which I picked up in ‘22, the rest of them have been bought in the last year. I got the Firebird in September of last year, got the WestCreek DC and the Firefly yellow bat FFSP in October and those really started a buying frenzy that hasn’t seemed to have stopped yet. I’m really looking forward to the ride to the island. I haven’t been over the bridge yet, last time I went there you still needed to take the ferry. I’m looking forward to getting those guitars because I have a lot of LP styled guitars so I’m finally getting a couple of Explorer/Destroyer models and a couple of V’s. Plus the Racer and another DC, I’ll be a happy camper.
@@LonelyRocker Yeah that is true. But I’m paying so little for them I’m paying less for 6 guitars than I did for my Epiphone Firebird. Plus right now I’m inundated with lp style guitars (6 out of 11) and I wanted to pick up a coupla V’s or Explorer types and in this pile I’m getting 2 of each of those plus one of their offset sg types and my 2nd of their DC (Gibson dbl cut melody maker type). I really liked my first DC, although it’s in the shop getting a pickup upgrade (I hope). But no, I’m not going for volume it’s just worked out that way over the last year and with finding this guy on the island who just wound up with a pallet of WestCreek overstock I’m getting quite a good deal on them. I’m still going to be looking for all kinds of guitars that I’ve wanted forever so this isn’t stopping anytime soon.
None more yellow. Your tune was unexpected and kinda cool. I got one of these for $190, and I consider it a total steal. Yours is the only other one that I've seen that came with a pickup selector poker chip. I also got the matte purple one (actually got that first, it was immaculate and is one of the clearest, purest, most playable guitars I've played-- pretty damn shocking.) Nice playing.
I'm thinking about purchasing this guitar as well. because I unfortunately had to sell my 2010 Gibson SG faded Special to Guitar Center to pay some bills, so I kinda regret selling it
That piece of plastic over the neck joint is called a tenon cover it's typical for SG style guitars it hides the neck tenon that joins the neck and the body
i got one. purple because its my girls fav color. feels nice sounds good, the neck bends tho. i wish the frets were bigger. medium frets that seem smaller than other med jumbo frets, almost flat. the packaging is great. im keeping the box and packing because its so good. dont like the neck dive. the neck measured 25 not 25.5 or 24.75
Funny...I never tried it with a strap until I read this comment. So I tried it. Yes, it seems to pull a but but I have a textured strap that doesn't slip so that seemed to combat that. I generally play sitting down in my studio so rarely notice these things ;)
