12 Minute Theraband Shoulder & Back Strength Workout

This 12 Min Theraband Shoulder Workout is great for your rotator cuff and upper body! With many requests recently I hope this helps you all with strengthening these important muscle groups.
This resistance band is a great piece of equipment to use if you really want to target the deep stabilising muscles of the shoulder and upper back.
When you strengthen these muscles you will find better ability to do pushups, full body exercises and even weights because the deeper muscles can support the larger muscles.
Band work is a very effective way to target your deeper muscles in a way that no other equipment can seem to target and give the same results.
I hope this workout helps you - the bonus is you will tone up your arms and shoulders nicely if you do this workout a few times per week with a band that has a challenging resistance.

HI EVERYONE! So great to hear you are all doing well with using the exercises in this video. I'm glad to hear shoulder pain is decreasing, plus so many of your stronger in your upper body too. Here's a follow up video I've done for you to focus a little more on 'rotator cuff' specific exercises, using the theraband once again. These will help to continue maintaining strength and stability in your shoulder joint, plus give you some variety from video 1.

Great upper body band workout. I just finished the 30 minute full body band seated workout, I noticed this band routine at end. I was feeling rather energized, so continued. I stayed with increased band strength. Thanks Vanessa 😊❤️

These are great shoulder exercises, I will use these to help strengthen my shoulders for arm balances in my yoga practice. I will also use the in my Pilates classes.

Really great! I just bought resistance tubes the other day and was looking for exercises I wouldn't have to lie on the floor for... As I have a weak back and am always on the computer for school, I have had pains for several years. If this work for me you will have saved nother back.

This is one of my favourite shoulder strengthening videos on RUclips. I am recovering from a winged scapula and I have noticed a real difference with these exercises. Thank you!

I am so glad I found this video, I just had foot surgery and these are great to keep me moving and strong I love working out with you every morning... I will be off my foot for 2 weeks and these are really making a difference so far.

Vanessa, I had shoulder and upper back pain since last 3 years. I went to many ortho doctors and physiotherapist here in India. They gave me too much vitamins tablet and thought many kind of exercises but none of them worked for me. I am really astonished that by just doing these basic exercises I don't feel any pain now. My life was very dull but now I feel very good and energetic. Thank you so much.

Thank you Christina! Yes take your time on building up the bands. For some exercises you will always have a lighter one like Rotator Cuff as this is a small muscle group but for others like Biceps and Upper back you can certainly increase the band. Thanks, Vanesa, this is a great routine, had issues with my right shoulder in the past and now no longer use weights but do use bands. As an older martial arts practitioner, I focus now on body weight training, Shaolin Qi Gong/training and running and this routine fits in really well with my needs/compliments my training.

Great exercises Vanessa. Do you have any advice on recovering from a deltoid injury. I've read it could be due to issues with the pectorals or rhomboids. Thanks :)
Hi Laynie, thank you and glad you are finding benefit from the exercises 😀 It really depends on what type of deltoid injury, how it happened and the condition and alignment of your other muscles. In this case, I can't advise as I haven't seen you in person but you should definitely see a physiotherapist in your area to get a clear diagnosis and exercises specific to your injury. You are right in it could be pectorals or rhomboid related, but you need to know which one or what other muscles are weak or tight and then do specific exercises to balance that out. Often though, many of us have tight pecs due to computer and slouching, so any chest stretches will be great generally speaking. Look at your body holistically and do some of the other videos for Upper Back Strength and Pilates exercises in the Stretch Playlist and Pilates Playlist. Let me know how you go! My doctor recommended your shoulder and back strength video to me. It is great. It's not too long which is important to me. Plus, I can definitely feel the muscles that are being worked, which is different than other upper body work and PT I've experienced in the past. Thanks.

Hi, Great tips! I have been rehabbing a really messed up shoulder since June (open bankart reconstruction) . Ran out of PT in September (2020). Several of the exercises that my PT gave me were in your list. I have been on "my own" with rehab since September. Some of the very exercises that you talked about I am doing, but not with best form . . . . or I dropped al together. So this was a good reminder. Thanks for your time making this video.

Great shoulder work our, thank you Vanessa. I had right shoulder surgery for a tear nearly 2 years ago and have been vigilant with my strengthening but now I have pain in my left shoulder, maybe a strain. This workout is really helping both shoulders. I’ll check out your other workouts too.
Great work Stacey on maintaining your shoulders after the surgery. Go easy with that left shoulder and get your doctor to check if the pain remains. We just went on a 2 mile outdoor walk/garden, and I finished the 30 minuted full body band (seated) workout. I noticed this routine was a suggested one after previous seated one. Fantastic workout for shoulders and back. At end, I don’t have a bar to wrap band around, so used door handle to closed front door. Thanks Vanessa 😊❤️
