    Random train malfunctions have always been in the base game.
    They are called unfixed bugs.

  • @Atrail_Mckinley4786
    @Atrail_Mckinley4786 Месяц назад +26

    I will not be paying $40 for an existing train we already have. This train only has timetable services on two routes. Services that are very short as well. They only take 30 minutes to do a run on Riesa-Dresden, meaning that this train will not offer much replay value. They only added a few new scenarios
    Sure, you have the ability to press more buttons and switches along with going into the engine room (even though there are already locomotives with engine rooms). The driving experience will largely be the same. The original 101 was already a well-made loco. Also, having the option to disable the expert mode features kinda defeats the purpose of this train in my view.
    Now, there will probably be those that point to expert airplanes in MSFS, but the difference is that you can fly those planes for long distances. You aren't limited to a few 30 minute services.
    There was a video made by a German DTG ambassador playing with the 101 and the reception was overwhelmingly negative. The German tsw players are generally positive about German routes so that really is saying something.
    ruclips.net/video/yWqzPCvHsKs/видео.htmlsi=Iot0yjVOhUYnp5C_
    This has definitely caused alot of backlash and I suspect this will only cater to a minority of players.

      Checking out the video now! Thanks! And yikes… I honestly thought the small niche that this is being pushed to would LOVE it. It was obvious it wasn’t for the general player base. OOF 😓

      I get your point, but given the fact that every TSW has been on Xbox Game Pass, and older DLC is compatible with newer releases, it’s actually a good idea not to buy the game but only the DLCs, since every new game is gonna be on Game Pass for “free”, anyway.

    If you compare this as the same standard as airplanes in msfs then we gonna be scared much more in the future about pricing. 80 dollar is not uncommon for high fidelity planes. But the difference is you can fly the entire world. Tsw is only pre determined route.

    • @AB-mw8oz
      @AB-mw8oz Месяц назад +3

      I feel like thats a very bad way to look at it. Yes in flight simulators the sky is literally the limit. But in train sims certain trains will be country, or even County/State specific no matter what

    • @ishiddddd4783
      @ishiddddd4783 Месяц назад +1

      that's not really the reason planes can get that high, it's due to flight modeling, documentation, extra systems like in flight tables, etc. systems on top of systems correctly modeled and working like their real life counterparts, accuracy, modeling, and in the best ones, stuff like circuit breakers being all operational.
      Sure, it's cool they can fly anywhere, but so do free planes, it comes down to how close they are to the real thing on every or most details, that justify the price, and that they are a niche product.

  • @GermanEnigma
    @GermanEnigma Месяц назад +7

    TSG set a very high locomotive modelling standard that Rivet and Skyhook find it hard to reach.

  • @gtasandman
    @gtasandman Месяц назад +5

    What bothers me is the amount of people comparing it to flight sim. If you want to compare paying 80 dollars for a highly detailed plane you can literally use around the world is fine but imagine paying 40 instead but you're limited to flying NY to boston or Edinburgh to heathrow but then you have to pay another 40 dollars for each of those flight routes because its not included

    • @trainsimsociety
      @trainsimsociety  Месяц назад +2

      Comparisons to flight sim in terms of it being more detailed is fine but for anything else is truly apples to oranges and you’re right. We are limited with routes, route length, timetable etc. That alone IS a factor in the price and we don’t have enough places to use these trains in ways you can use planes in MSFS to make the price worth it.

    To be honest i have always loved the DB BR 101 both on sound and design, but I was fine with it. I really appreciate them going for ultra realism but if you aren’t going to add something more significant than a livery, cabcar and more realism then don’t charge that much. I think they should have added the bistro car along with the dlc so you get something else. This train also has a ton of liveries in real life which could have made it perfect for them to add more as to make the price seem more suitable, but they didn’t and now we will be stuck with a DLC more expensive than a route and almost as expensive as the deluxe edition. Wait for a massive discount otherwise it’s not worth it for the ridiculous price they are asking for.

    I was looking forward to this one, but not anymore! I am afraid that when TSW5 will be released, that the game itself and the new DLC's will be unpayable for everyone since everything will become expensive every year. The prices for everything will skyrocketing very soon this Fall and Winter! Nobody will be able to pay for anything. The current new DLC's are already €35,99 but I am afraid the price will rise again and new routes will become €40,99. We can only profit than with the sales. I believe TSW5 will be the final game of DTG before they going bankrupt and the TSW project being terminated forever.
    If DTG will go bankrupt in the future, than it's their own fault and should known better, by not raising the prices. For now lets enjoy for what we already have before this all comes to an end. I foresee it doesn't take long before the big crash.

    Every train should be expert, this is really stupid that they are releasing a DLC for TSW5 when its not out shows that they are rushing it and aren't adding a dam thing to the new game. Such a cash grab dovetail just gets worse every year. Simrail is way better and the devlopers there actually listen and care. I hope they crush them someday.

    • @potatoman451
      @potatoman451 Месяц назад +2

      Simrail will only excel in the multiplayer dept which many people don't enjoy
      The problem with having expert level trains is the immense cost and development time necessary to build it. You would only get 1 route like every 2 years and dlcs would have to be much more expensive. Another issue is that not every operator allows expert level trains. Mta for example would never allow it

  • @jsteph4040
    @jsteph4040 Месяц назад +3

    Honestly, this is all cool and all, but it all takes away from the biggest problem of TSW: AI TRAINS. They are still pretty much as scarce as ever. Your video proves that. I shouldn't be driving 10, 15, or 20 miles without seeing another train. It's COMPLETELY unrealistic. And absolutely BORING AF. Never do you feel like you're on a busy passenger line. I don't understand why EVERY service has to get drivable. Seeing as most of the add-on services are usually like 10-20 minutes little drives anyways. It's all a cash grab basically.

    • @potatoman451
      @potatoman451 Месяц назад +1

      The drivable services act as ai when you aren't driving them...
      There's also the issue of lack of trains or they don't have the license to the operator. They also aren't going to create a whole new model just as ai.
      Then you have the actual development which requires a staff member, a budget and deadline to work with and countless number of days, weeks and months to rebuild the timetable so the services can fit in. If they don't have the staff or resources, it's difficult to keep on updating the timetable every time there's a new train

    Controversy sells. Greedy company, Games good, business practice is disgusting, exploiting human behavior...expert locomotive blah blah blah. It will be a buggy mess, probably more so now because more can go wrong. Personally I like the scenery in this game. I find it relaxing and immersive as it is. It works because its not excruciatingly complex. I think it will appeal to a small percentage of hardcore fans, whatever. Its a hard pass for me. TSW5 is hilariously predictable...Still a stuttery mess on PS5 especially tsw4 routes...Is that going to improve? Doubht it. Its probably going to get worse. There overselling the product. Its not premium. I think they hit a sweet spot on the tsw 3 routes between performance and detail...Its ok to be a negative Nancy when you are talking about this game I think 😂 Good video though appreciate the objective approach.
