I started in its hay day like 1992/3 in SA. Cant remember but rollerblading just hit South Africa. it was still California Pro skates. Then we started to mod our own skates. Dare to Air on VHS. Made your own grind plates. If you lucky you got Roces Street. You hit the big leagues when in 1997 you got Roces MJ12s. Then white Roces M12s came out with a lower cuff. That was the Skate I really wanted. But I made some bad decisions. Went away. Lost 12 years of my life. Got older. Now I am a Fat Boomer. I spent some of the best times on Skates in the early 90s. Watching Airborne at Ster Kinekor was like the thing to do. The guy to beat locally was Herman Potgieter. Heard he could do Misty flips and front flips etc. Heard even Arlo Eisenberg once came to SA. I missed out on the early 2000s when it was at its peak.
Mine just landed today and I freaking love them! I've skated USD and rollerblade many years ago.. I still have my gen1 TRS from more than 10 years ago haha! First time I've purchased some remz and they are so comfy! I love that you don't really have to tighten the laces or strap and your still secure. I'm 44 and 110kg and my knees are getting on a bit whether I like it or not but I've found I can sit on a royale more and my knees don't take the stress. I'm a US size 12 (UK 11) and they feel sturdy The wheels and FLT3 frames are beautiful and roll easily. The bearings I would say are a 5.. they feel about same speed as my TRS That are sat on 5 right now. Overall love these things.. love the entirely black scheme altho some chubby laces are on the cards 😁👍🏽
How does the sizing for these skates translate to actual shoe size? Do you need to go up or down from your shoe size? I’m a 10.5 to 11 (US), depending on shoe brand. Thanks in advance!
@@bryanbabcock6012 hi I'm a UK 10 to 10.5 depending on shoe. Our UK sizes are generally a size down from USA so my 11 are your 12. Like I say I got a little bigger because with socks on and the fact feet expand in size with heat I didn't want them squashing my foot. First time on they were toit but a few rolling sessions and they loosened up a bit 👍🏽
This review has helped a LOT!!! when I was skating the last pair of skates I owned were a pair of K2 Style Points Bob's!!! Yes that was almost 20 years ago. I was still in high school when I bought them. After 10+ years of skating I just stopped. I haven't skated for at least 12 years. But now I just turned 38... And I want to get back into it only to find out that K2 no longer manufactures agro skates. So I've been trying to find the closest skate to the K2 SPB I could find. I think I've found them in the REMZ HR 2.5's? I'm still open to other suggestions. But I think this is it!
Thank you. I've always wanted to skate a pair of Remz and I'm getting back into blading after 15 years. Remember grind plates? I hope those aren't a thing anymore. Lol
When I used to skate back in the 90's I always thought royals and backslides where done on the frame not the boot, I don't think my boot ever touched the rail or ledge.
Well. A shifty would not touch the boot, a royale would. The thing is, they were no backslide plate back then. My boots would always end up with a hole on the outer side.
I was hoping you would say something about the weight if the skates and how it affects your skating. But other then that, fantastic review, very thorough and well rounded.
To be honest I don't need all the info because I'm not looking to buy now or in the near future, but I always enjoy the skating parts. As always this was a great video
I just ordered these a few days ago, watching this waiting for it to come. I made a mistake of buying USD carbon a few years ago, it's really not for me, it feels extremely stiff and rigid, both the boot and the liner is very stiff . I skated in the 2000s roces, thrones, syrus, skinned rollerblades, gricons, razors but this is my first time when I can have a chance to get my hands on remz. (and maybe the last, company hasn't posted much in 6 months)
Ricardo Lino kind of. Need to break them in. But i also bought 3 other skates at the same time that i’ve been rolling. Usd aeons (hate the long frames), razors cult gold, and usd carbons. So far the $100 i paid for the cults, they’re my favorite. I thought i would like the aeons, but for someone who hasn’t skated in 10yrs, the flat aeons aren’t good. Not a lot of room for mistakes. I ended up putting in rockers, but the frames being so long, they feel like i have skis on.
@@adobomoto if you like the cults you should consider SLs, I went from cults to the SL and I like the SL so much more and can lock in grinds easier than the cults.
Infinity Ripper damn you! I got the cult gold for a steal deal locally and this was just before i was about to buy the sl’s. Now i gotta buy the sl’s 😂😂.
So you met the guys from Medellín, i see you are wearing the sinsponsor tee, so nice it would be great to see you for the 2020 BBQ contest or sooner lol
Bit sorry you swapped the liners out. The main thing I want to know about is what the newer model Remz liners feel like. I have HR 1.1 and they are good enough for how frequently I skate, but the liners are so uncomfortable at the front ankle. I definitely feel my skates leaning outward more than I would like. And I also struggle a lot with heel and toe rolls. I'm looking to buy a Remz liner while in the USA, since they only cost about $20.
I came back to blading and I always wanted to own a pair of remz skates, but I ended up very disappointed : size 11 felt like size 9, then I got size 13, that felt like size 10 then I gave up, these skates are very heavy with Flt3 antirocker setup they are the heaviest at around 2230grams and the liner wiggles in the shell. Wanted to love these skates, but it didn't happen.
Hey man, so I see you put a bigger frame on them. I was curious on what size boot/frame your running. I’m currently running a size 9 boot which comes with a size 2 frame. I went ahead and ordered size 3 hoping they won’t be too big. But I’m also the type where I have to see my from wheel/frame
I want to get back into skating and I think I'll buy these. One question: can you switch the rocker with normal wheel? Back in my day we had 4 wheels lol
Would you recommend Remz hr 2.5 for a guy in his 30’s just getting into aggressive skating?? Been skateboarding since I was 14 but I want to start aggressive blading.
jed belcher IMO. Get some Razors SL or USD Aeons. Remz seem to only work for a niche group of skaters. They are not bad at all but they deter from the generic aggressive skate in feel and flex. You’d want a bit more support learning tricks imo.
Hi Ricardo .I got a question. i was skating remz about mode than 10 years ago. my problem is Boot shell Eu 43-45 is so big for my 43 foot so i skated with jug liners. bu still big shell. cant u downsize to eu42. couse i know we have same foot size . and how it feels with eu43
Was wondering if you feel you had to go bigger than your normal size? I wear a 10.5 US and keep hearing they run small. Don't know if I should get an 11US or just swap out the liner. Any insight? Thank you!
Usually, people say to get a 0.5 to 1.0 US size bigger since they're tight around the toes. If I had the skates already, I would go with the liner first as you can use in other skates as well
Ricardo, a question for you. Love the Channel, and I'm thinking about buying a pair or blades, however I'm not totally sold on the soul space on the REMZ 2.5. Would it be possible to fit the soul plates that are found on the USD Shadow to the Remz Boot? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks James
It would not be possible, but you'd be surprised by how big the soul actually is on the Remz. Also the hook on it keeps you locked on well. Also the size of soul doesn't make as much difference as a lot of people make out it does in my opinion. 👍

Soo ugly, Chris haffey 2.0 white ones were the best skates remz made. Can't understand why they never re-released them when they sold out so quick. Only problems were the actual real life ones looked different from the photos as the toe shape in real life was too big and round, aswell as The inner side of the boot was ugly. They should have corrected the innerside to match the outerside & slimmed down the whole boot & remade them instead of keeping that same ugly toe shape & just trying to bring out different designs that look ugly & nobody wants. Makes zero sense when companys do things like this. One of the reasons skating died is no good looking skates. The skate companies just keep pushing out the same ugly skates year after year but just changing the color. They need to perfect the shape and design first & when they sell out make some more.
