Ive been flying rc (electric, glow and gas) for almost 18 years and i never imagined using a nitro motor for something like this. it may not be practical, but the engineering part is OUTSTANDING. great job sir.
I'm new to Dremels, but this thing has been great. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxfPgcZ5_Cl0HDUKkMJAKde11YKQZVgMoR The variable speed is awesome and the cordless aspect makes it so easy to work with. I am constantly finding uses for it that make tasks easier. Recently I put in a new deadbolt on one of our doors. I knew I had to enlarge the hold where the deadbolt goes into the door frame. At first I thought I would have to get a big router and figure out how to use it for that, but then I rermembered we have the dremel. I was able to enlarge the hole almost as easy as if I was drawing with a pen. It's also great for grinding our dog's nails done and so many other household tasks.
i dont think those videos are all about practicallity. at least i don't watcht them for that reason ^^ also why would that be semi practical? consider camping or other outdoor activities..
Even a GX-15 motor only has about 0,35PS which translates to 0,25kW (250 Watts), and that is typically only for one specific RPM. Given a effectiveness of 50% it only produces 125W of mechanical power. A genuine Dremel has up to 175W. About actual torque i could not find any data.. BUT: If you need more power, just use an angle grinder or drillpress, depending on your needs. You cant use the product indoors for long due to exhaust gases, it is much louder than a dremel and it gets hot, which is dangerous. I dont want to say that this is a useless build or anything, as much as you also i like gasoline motors that power everyday items and i like building and machining stuff. I really like this video. But still that doesnt make a gas powered handtool more practical ;)
bexpi Rotary tool, not Dremel. Just like adjustable wrench not Crescent or Bahco wrench, and tongue & groove or water pump pliers not channellock. Not a big deal, I just couldn't resist 😁
I can't say that I see much practicality in this tool BUT... a huge thumbs up for the creativity and talent in making it. People have choices; sit around drinking beer and talking about things or going into a garage work shop and actually doing things. This guy is pure awesomeness. That thing could just be shined up and put on a shelf as a piece of "guy art". Well done Sir!!!
There's these stands for the angle grinder you can buy (or make, since they are pretty simple, after you see the form it can be made from a few angle irons and a plate) and if you have a beefier AG you can cheat and put slightly bigger cutter wheels on it. Cheapo tool to cut acurate-ish. Certainly better than hand working it.
Although several drawbacks as noise, oily mess through the exhaust, and constantly destroying drill bits due to excessive rpm don't make this project a practical every day tool, the end result is a very impressive gadget.Congrats to the machinist.
angelo pap I use ordinary drill bits in my ordinary dremel (had the adjustable chuck that allowed smaller bits too), at those speeds, I found they lasted longer, admittedly I use too much force on a regular drill and snap them, I'm guessing in a rotary tool, the high speed cooling on the bit shaft can cope with dissipating the heat from the tip if only light pressure is used. Drilling through quarter of an inch of steel, I'd add a drop of oil to the steel and drip it on the bit, although that might not be necessary.
At least he built something and didn't comment on someone else's RUclips video about how it sucked. Great job man keep the ideas flowing I'll watch them all!!!
Pretty damn sweet. I'm guessing you can't run it at higher rpm for long because of cooling, but I'd love to have one because of the badass-ness. I want a lathe. Great build!
Вы -- молодец !!!!! Все сделано грамотно и с душой !!!!!!! Но есть одна беда -- маленький рессурс двигателя..... и топливо ....За видео спасибо !!!!! Получил огромное удовольствие !!!!!!!!
These metal working skills should be taught at schools and then the possibilities are endless. The most I had been taught was how to make a ashtray and a bird box, I did not smoke and I wasn't a keen bird watcher.
I would like to say that I am genuinely very thankful for your video, thank you for uploading the failed engines because it gave me a sense of your brilliant work and perseverance, very well done to you sir.
"Yeah? I see where your coming from Johnny? Not all the time a contractor can find electricity on site when doing a job(Sometimes one cannot find a Generator to carry on site.-It is not accessible). Therefore? These tools are absolute." 👍
Whoahaha, dude, that's COOL! I've been familiar with these tiny engines ever since the late '70s--didn't play with them for about a q.-cent. or so, then picked them back up about a 15 or so years ago, then haven't played with them for a few years; but it looks like it's time for me to get playing with them again, because seeing this is rekindling my interest! I have an engine with nothing hooked to it, and then a black U-control plane. My dad had a yellow u-string plane in the '70s but we never got it going back then and then stashed it away and we never found it again. And then I bought one of those comparitively giant friction-coupled electric starters, but sometimes it was still fun to try to start them by hand. I could rarely keep one of these engines tuned well long enough for it to stay running for longer than about a minute or two, so it's cool to see how you managed! Sorry two of your engines were hosed, though.
There will be a lot of people who don't get why you built that, they are the ones who don't understands t why men climb mountains either. It's not the tool I'd set and work with for hours, but if people were looking you can bet I would make the star! And those motors smell great when they run!
Holy shit. I work on a golf course. I can't tell you how valuable a gas/nitro powered tool of this size would be. I want one. I would pay a lot for one. Seriously. Also subbed!
I remember back in the 1950's in back of Popular Mechanics, there was army surplus ad's for a gas powered circle saw. I never saw one in real life though. So I can't say how well they worked.
The skillset in metallurgy, metalsmithing, and most of all mechanical design is entertainment in its own right. This little baby chainsaw relative is totally badass, and kinda Steampunk looking, too. To make it a little easier to hold, an outer case worthy of the machinery - maybe see-thru polycarbonate, like a Ferrari engine cover...
I've always thought it would be really neat to make a USB battery charger out of one of these. Not terribly practical but I just think itd be an awesome toy, plus you never have to worry about the battery running out, just dump more fuel in.
For the second engine, I think you could have wound a cord around the shaft ahead of the flywheel, then pulled it like a pull-starter. That 2nd engine is beautiful.

Over complicated:
Very
Over engineered:
EXTREMELY
Do we all need one:
HELL YEAH!!!!!!!
This is not going to hurt,
much !
off grid tools! just a bottle of nitro and battery for glow plugs
Bulky, heavy, noisy, messy, probably overheat but i love it 😂
mark675 yeap I just wrote ask him for a way to keep the engine cool.
I want it
what in the name of over engineering
Hunter Fisher creativity?
SCIENCE BITCH
naw, defo over engineering xD
laoch33 AKA DoDo Wtf he say? ^^^
Nomad 087 idk some people cant english so great lol
"YO DAWG, I HEARD YOU LIKE MACHINES............SO I USED MY MACHINES TO MACHINE YOU A MACHINE."
idea: make a "nitro powered power bank". Like a electric generator in miniature..
noooo. that would be semi practical.
i dont think those videos are all about practicallity. at least i don't watcht them for that reason ^^ also why would that be semi practical? consider camping or other outdoor activities..

Maybe we could use a Hayabusa 1300 motor? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Das ist eine gute Idee
I've worked in high precision metal fab for 18 years... and I can honestly say that that was a piece of art.... Good job man!
It's one of the most steampunk looking things I've ever seen
"Aaaaw, ze lidle patient lookz zcared... zo, weech wan iz ze bad tooth...?" MWUHAHAHA!

Well, I mean, the main facet of steampunk, is the steam part... So.... yeah.
this is the guy you want to be neighbours with when the zombie apocalypse comes

Yes.
@@mithleshkumar7128 No, this guy is running a hobby engine you moron.
Wicked construction, just like the drill. ps dont stop making these vids
Cool build! I'll always love the awesome sound of nitro engines.
I ran nitro RCs until they couldnt beat brushless/lipo. It was a fun time.
please make nitro powered toothbrush
Lolol
Nice idea

O MY GOSH YES JOHNNYQ90 DO IT
I hope my dentist doesn't watch this video.
Oh wow never thought I'd see you here! Anyway just wanted to remind you that your appointment is on Friday.
Oh no..
Lol
Yor next tooth is gonna be pulled hella quick

the first cordless dremel with some real nut :)
or just get a corded dremel with 30,000 rpm

IMHO cordless dremels suck ass
bexpi cordless dremels tend to lack any real torque. they suck balls lmao :)

THIS is why I randomly wander around the internet. Thanks for renewing my faith.
This is a winner on so many counts: ingenuity, machining quality, aesthetics and video production quality. You have a new subscriber - thanks.

It is on the list for a while! Maybe the time has come! We'll see!
i hope so

Make a nitro powered toy car.
Dj Ruccy they have that already but it's not really considered a toy
Built one of these and now my boss loves me! Thank you! 😁
what a great piece of egineering !
Ma Om - true, magnificent BUT! There is insufficient atmosphere to operate it in space, on the moon or mars.
Ricky Ricardo that literally doesn't matter
At least he built something and didn't comment on someone else's RUclips video about how it sucked. Great job man keep the ideas flowing I'll watch them all!!!
1: You could sell patience and make a lot of money (:
2: one of my favourite things i've ever watched !
You really did a great job of filming your project and telling the story of what you designed and built.
Fantastic work.
Make a nitro powerd graphics card
nitro powered smartphone
mmmm yes a sappire nitro lol
samsung galaxy nitro?
nitro powered phone or graphics card, you all high?
we are all on NITROOOO..
Pretty damn sweet. I'm guessing you can't run it at higher rpm for long because of cooling, but I'd love to have one because of the badass-ness. I want a lathe. Great build!
I challenge you to make your own nitro engine from scratch... if you succeed. I shall personally reward you £25
Yeah great idea!
YES. You can do it Johhny!
How "from scratch" are we talking? Does he have to go refine his own bauxite to get aluminum to cast? Can he just buy machined parts and assemble it?
do this please!! ill buy that off you for a lot!
Toggl3 he can machine the parts
Вы -- молодец !!!!! Все сделано грамотно и с душой !!!!!!! Но есть одна беда -- маленький рессурс двигателя..... и топливо ....За видео спасибо !!!!! Получил огромное удовольствие !!!!!!!!
Just imagine if that's what dentists had to use.
OMG now I have a new nightmare...
''Is it safe???? '' Marathon Man starring Dustin Hoffman. Forever ruined my trips to the dentist.
Imagine having that for doctors on the field, or in third world countries, this tool could easily save lives.
or as you said, third world dentists, teeth affects human health greatly.
Well if it can't be used as a dental tool, how about mounting a vibrating head and make it a marital aid?
I gotta say, patent that. This would be a perfect tool for when you don't have an outlet. I'd buy it for the right price!
thats a right skookum choocher
Skookum as FRIG!
Sounds like you guys been watching AvE
looks crusty.
Some of those holes were pretty crusty, but the surface finish is not t bag.
AvE is skookum as frig.
It makes me smile when your parts click together.
Ur channel is underrated my boy....Realy Good work 👍

Just started watching your videos, you have amazing skills Johnny Q 👍
dude... DIY art. I'm a machinist and thats purdy.
Man perfect work!!!!
Pls sell me one of this:)
Peace of ART!!!
Bad ass. nitromethane fumes and all. Made my eyes burn just watching the finished tool in use... Grrreat job.
Most manly thing I´ve seen today.

All those clicks are so satisfying
Feminine product potential!
Love it! Beautiful work. I really like the "just for the hell of it" reasoning behind it. Keep it up, don't ever stop making ! ! !
rotary is power
Rotary is trash
I would like to say that I am genuinely very thankful for your video, thank you for uploading the failed engines because it gave me a sense of your brilliant work and perseverance, very well done to you sir.
That thing is wicked! The machining-porn is rad I was full staff for 20 minutes easy.

kid keep doing what you doing you were going to go places. God only knows I wish I could afford to hire you.
These types of videos are amusing to me
i should pay this guy to make me a nirto powerd rotery tool would come in handy

Very Slick, every home should have one.
your a modern day IRON MAN!
Your workman ship and design always amazes me .Great video.

The coolest combustion tool EVER. Subscribed. 👍
I love this kind of videos, if I had a workshop like yours and your knowledge, I'd be happy. Nice job! 👌👍🏻
Dude that is just 100% cool. real human ingenuity at work.
This video has taught me one thing... I really need a lathe!
Very seldom is something that cool looking, so functional. Kudos on making an awesome tool, and a piece of art.
Outstanding craftsmanship. Your video is hipnotic. Thanks.
Beautiful man, and all that effort too. Takes a lot of commitment.
For outdoor use only! I can feel my eyes burning.
Love watching your videos, like how you show all the details of your work.
I feel asleep over this, not htat its boring, its peacefully
very nice metalwork
This is a tool i would use every day
