Absolutely!!! My husband asked me to quit my job because I was attacked at my work. Thankfully, I am able to work from home. I was very lucky because I was able to defend myself quite well. They grabbed me by the front of my shirt and tried to pull me over the counter at the store I worked at. All I could grab was a a can of cleaner that was on the shelf under the counter. I came over that counter swinging with all I had. They did not expect that and dropped me thankfully. I was raised to be able to defend myself in any way needed. But it still scared the crap out of me. Thank you for voicing things that need to be said.

I was 15 years old (1972) when I was followed off the bus from shopping. My mothers job had an office at the bus stop, and I went in crying and told the girls to call my mother at home. They also called the police. Well, 5 minutes later, here comes my mother (45) 'in hot pursuit" trotting down the main street with a brown lunch bag in her hand, asking where is he, where is he??? By then small town city police pulled up, told my mother to calm down that I was safe. They asked her what she had in the lunch bag? She showed them-it was a clothesline and a hammer. She told the cops she was going to tie him to the parking meter, and bash his brains in. TRUE family story, repeated over the decades.

Do you have any training in hand-to-hand weapons disarming? If not, I would strongly recommend doing so. A trained attacker, in a CQB situation, will take your battle buddy away from you in seconds. All he has to do is move a few inches to his left or his right. Now he's beaten your hand, and your eyes can't read his movement fast enough to tell your hand to move. One or two more moves and he owns your battle buddy.

I'm 67 and my father taught me how to take care of myself. At that time women were expected to be keepers of the home. I was helping him fix a car, learning to shoot, learning how to keep myself safe and defend myself. I remember in 2nd grade we used to have a time where we could build with scrap wood and use tools. My teacher told my parents I was the only one that could use them properly. He was so proud. Lol. As a kid there were times I thought he wanted a boy more. But as I got alittle older I understood. My mother taught me the softer side. So I had good balance. There have been times in my life I have had to draw on the skills and knowledge my father taught me. And in turn I have passed it on to my children. Not all have embraced it . . . But I tried.

I see people all the time with their eyes on their phones not paying attention at all to anything else. Also don’t look like a victim. Learn how to carry yourself with confidence. Survey the parking lot on any potential problems before you ever get out of your car. There have been times I’ve left and gone to another store because of some individuals that were present. Our "normal" response is fight or flight. However if someone has past trauma (PTSD) there is a third response locked into our brains and that is the "freeze" response. Your body not only freezes or weakens but your vocal are also physically effected where you can't speak, let alone yell out. This is a trauma response with no control over it. I know because I have PTSD so I just wanted to share that this is a very real, physical response that to the on looker seems like they just didn't do anything. This is an issue that needs to be treated. Hope this gives some understanding.

God Bless you Patara. I'm Sorry for the book to follow but this is the second time God's given me to tell this story in as many days... so it clearly needs to be told. There's this thing that happens when you're attacked that's been summed up as "fight or flight." I'll tell you it's a choice. I think the only real benefit to the "non-athletic" self defense instructions is: 1) carry yourself smartly (always have a free hand... don't wear stupid shoes) 2) The word "NO" 👈 seriously. It was 1993 and I lived in Quantico but paid my rent in Fredericksburg. Broad day light in the middle of the week... my paycheck was late and so I had to drive out to the other section 8 property that was managed by my landlord to get my rent paid in time. I was 18 years old. The parking lot was full and so I drove around and parked along street at the entry to the complex behind the dumpsters (stupid). I had seen the 3 men eyeing me, like a coyote eyes a wayward chicken, when I was looking for parking at the office; and, that SHOULD have been my "not worth it" alarm... but I was just going to be quick and if ignored them. I would be fine... right? WRONG. They cat called... I ignored them... then they followed. As soon as I opened my car door they rushed me. It was not the first time I had been attacked. Reno is not a kind city to runaway girls and I will leave that history in my past. BUT! this would be the last time I was attacked. I took all the "oh my God is this happening again... this can't be... what's my boyfriend going to think... is that lady calling the police" (it's amazing what tapes you have running in your brain) and I turned it into NO. I said it outloud with every swing, kick, bite, door slam, rake of my nails... time slowed down... I locked the door on the passanger side, laid on the horn, all while fighting. I broke arms, ribs and a skull (door slamming is highly effective). They ran (stumbled..dragged each other).. I drove directly to the police department. I never had to show up in court or see them again. The police took my statement and the evidence of the attack under my nails and torn clothes, other witnesses had called the police, and the ER called the police and they gave full confessions (they were the victims, ya see 🙄).
If you ever find yourself running that "this can't be tape" then find the word "NO!" You can turn all that fear into pure force.
Now, I'm not 18 anymore... that was 30 years ago. I'll never say "I can't anymore, I'm too old, weak, damaged" because I firmly believe God is with me and the spirit within me... and He can do anything. But, I do carry in the event that's the tool He gives me the opportunity to use if I'm attacked again. I also will never hesitate to run away first if that's an opportunity that's gifted. Thank you Patara. 🙏💚

Chills listening to this crucial message to our beloved human family! Always remember your first layer of protection, The Armor of God. Every time I go out to run errands I ask for this protection to be placed around me. Yes, other layers of protection and self-defense are important too but, I feel you must believe you are protected first and foremost by our Creator. Thank you Patara, I just recently found you and I couldn't be more grateful for your poignant messages that speak so deeply to my heart and Soul. Many Blessings and Love to y'all 🙏💞

Patara, thank you for your video. This is a vital subject and you handled it with grace and dignity. I’m 65, small framed and have several issues with my back and hips. My ability to physically defend myself isn’t great. But I would fight like heck anyway. Many years ago my ex had me down on the floor with his hands wrapped around my neck. He was trying very hard to choke me. When he got me down on the floor, I automatically pulled my legs up to my chest. As he was leaning across me I managed to get my feet up against his chest, and I kicked upwards as hard as I could. He flew backwards and slammed into the wall. He was also the one in need of medical attention. It happed so quickly, it was a spontaneous move on my part to draw my legs up like that, but that spontaneous move very likely saved my life.

Watching Krav Maga videos on yt is incredibly empowering. When I took Tae Kwondo at 18 yo our teacher was a stout retired Berkeley cop. He taught the girls, strike to kill and run like the wind. There's no chance in a female "fighting off" a man. The skills we learned were to defend ourselves long enough to kill, induce injury and get away. We learned strategies and kill shots. I'm 66 now and still remember the core teachings starting with state of mind. Eye contact, body posture, animal screams and killer attitude. Become an animal protecting pups

I came at them as they each had 1 leg on outside of her legs and were moving her down the aisle. Once they heard me screaming at them, they bolted and left her go. I conceal carry, with easy access, absolutely everywhere! I have been hunting since I was 6 years old (I'm 56 now). I have 5 daughters, who are grown now. I went through monthly scenarios of "what would you do if I grabbed you this way"? I would do it without notice, so they would learn spontaneous reactions. One daughter had to defend herself in the university parking lot. She had mace and an air horn clipped to her belt, one on each side. She screamed at the top of her lungs while using both items and it worked, the man ran away, but she also had the ability to fight them off if necessary. From that point on, she wears running shoes while crossing parking lots.

Like you, I warned then that we must teach our daughters to fight. In the Christian world this is hardly taught, it should all be about love. Its going to get worse because the politicians/government will not do anything about it. All they want to do is pull the racial card and be easy on criminals. People need to be prepared to defend yourself. I keep telling my daughter, “its in the water”. This craziness is world wide. The only thing everyone has in common is THE WATER. There is a documentary in Rumble about it. Check it out, then everyone will know what I mean. So, stay safe, God bless everyone. 🙏🏻💜✝️🇺🇸
