Discovered Paradise Lost in 1993 when Icon came out. There was a UK tour, got on that one, great show. They came around again just a few months later, this time supporting a band I'd heard good things about...Sepultura! Had chance to check out the first song on the new album Refuse/Resist before bailing out to the gig. Paradise Lost were so good, we were like.. shit! Sepultura made a big mistake, they're not gonna be able to top this.....but they did! Crazy gig - Awesome! Paradise Lost "At the BBC" was partly recorded at this gig!

This is a typical example of the PL's limitations as a pop band. They are simply not made to sing pop as they have been trying to do on every album since host.
They have improved. The music is again more complex and diverse and often the instrumental parts are equal or more important than the chorus. They also sound less commercial and accessible. @@brendanw6080
