This brings me back 40 years ago... How I really Miss this genius called MJ. MJ really gave all the meaning to the word audio-vidéo ! Thriller is still waiting for something to do better... Simply impossible... The bar is too high.
When Thriller was released in 1983, I was a young man of 28. Having listened to the Jackson 5 as a teenager, I was already familiar with Michael Jackson. Now, as an old man approaching 70, I remember the impact Michael Jackson had on music of the 20th century. Back in the day when Thriller was filmed, there was people standing around in large crowds watching. Now, with this remake from his nephew, not only are the streets blocked and no people are allowed but, guards using umbrellas to block the view from outside of the filming area? I get the security however, why not just put up a tall dark screen from one corner of the street to the other to block the view instead of using umbrellas to try and block the view from anyone filming. So silly. How stupid things have gotten these days. I only wish I had known how great the 80's were when I was living it. Thanks for the video anyway, sir. You gave it your best!
Use your brain, if leaked footage of the shoot makes it to the Internet before biopic is aired who do you think is getting fired? Don't fault someone for actually doing their job because they want to keep it.
@ES-cl5hi First off, the umbrella men did nothing to block his video. They had the road blocked off far enough away that nobody could see anything. Besides, they were recreating a video that just about everyone on the planet has seen already. We all know what was happening.

See it from the investor/owners perspective

From where the GIV was, you could see nothing . If the umbrella dudes turned around and looked, they would see he could see nothing .
You have to take in consideration 40 years ago there was no phones with cameras or social media to post vids and pics. So the whole world could not see what was happening that night.. Just local fans..

MJ was so big back in the day. I was just a little kid when the Thriller video came out. It was kind of a scary video to little kids. He was so big they sold out the college football stadium here three nights in a row on that tour(the whole weekend). I’m in Knoxville TN home of the Vols so we’re talking one of the biggest college stadiums too. Plus it was one of the first shows with a big laser light show production in it and I remember people making a big deal about that. You couldn’t find a single MJ jacket or glove for sale in the whole town even a week before the shows as every store was sold out of every color and style(all the department stores sold them at the time). My first concert and it was amazing!!!

Great video, Mike! Here in NYC a group of dancers does the THRILLER dance every year in the Greenwich Village Halloween Parade, and being one of them in 2014 was a definite bucket list item for me!! (There are many videos of this on YT.) So I had to smile when you got excited just hearing "that thumping bass"... because I do too! It never gets old. Sending love from NYC 😘

Ugh!!! Hollywood can never just leave well enough alone. God forbid if there’s a dollar to be made they will sell out anyone. Michael Jackson is a legend that was and remains so very one of a kind that his story simply does not need to be told by money hungry family members that will not let him rest in peace. I honestly believe that the family has never forgiven him for leaving them all to fend for themselves clearly he was their meal ticket. So very sad. Seems the only people who find this type of biopic interesting are those who weren’t alive back in 1983 to truly appreciate Michael’s greatness. The real biopic is the German showing us the original locations of where it all took place so many years ago. Now that i can appreciate Thank you for that.

Absolutely wonderful footage! You done an amazing job. You are also a great dude. Thank you so much for your heart felt dedication and your humble personality. In 1992 Me and Michael used to write back and forth to eachother, I still have the things that Michael gave to me. I was able to connect with Michael because I was friends with his clerk at the Madison Palace Hotel in New York. I was told that Michael enjoyed the picture of me dressed in the thriller outfit and he smiled at my picture as he walked down the hallway. I was almost chosen to become one of his background dancers. But he was so busy at the time. I lost contact with Michael in 1995.

I did not know this biopic was in the works, it looks like a big-budget production. I thought the outer perimeter security was rather funny with the umbrellas as security screens. The production might have thought Mike was a spy for another production. I see the GiV's video as FREE PUBLICITY for this production. A long shot here: this production company invites Mike into the set and meets the actor portraying Michael Jackson. I hope this biopic does very well when released.

Some areas in LA are restricted from flying drones and can be temporarily restricted as well and the police can order you to land your drone as well and hit you with a FAA fine if they wish if you don't have a license to fly in that area

I miss those old Limousines. My friend I grew up with. Her Uncle owned one. He would pick us up and take us to the Dairy Queen in little Calvert, Texas. Great times! I wish I could go back to the 80’s.

Giv ! How cool ... you are showing where the Thriller Video took place! I was a big fan also ..... In 2009 I went to The Bermuda Music Festival to See the show called "Quincy Jones and Friends" .... I saw Quincy Jones conduct the orchestra playing Thriller on Halloween night 2009. There are you tube clips still on you tube. The security people last night were just doing their jobs ..... They want the show to be a secret until its time to show it .... Again, Thanks for showing this!!

I’m a big fan of the “Thriller” video going way back to when it was new (I was fifteen?), so from way back in the 80s, a great time for movies and music videos. What a time that was! Michael Jackson is a legend that was and remains so very one of a kind that his story simply does not need to be told by money hungry family members that will not let him rest in peace. I honestly believe that the family has never forgiven him for leaving them all to fend for themselves clearly he was their meal ticket. So very sad.
Seems the only people who find this type of biopic interesting are those who weren’t alive back in 1983 to truly appreciate Michael’s greatness. The real biopic is the German showing us the original locations of where it all took place so many years ago. Now that i can appreciate Thank you for that.

Absolutely wonderful footage! You done an amazing job. You are also a great dude. Thank you so much for your heart felt dedication and your humble personality. In 1992 Me and Michael used to write back and forth to eachother, I still have the things that Michael gave to me. I was able to connect with Michael because I was friends with his clerk at the Madison Palace Hotel in New York. I was told that Michael enjoyed the picture of me dressed in the thriller outfit and he smiled at my picture as he walked down the hallway. I was almost chosen to become one of his background dancers. But he was so busy at the time. I lost contact with Michael in 1995.

I did not know this biopic was in the works, it looks like a big-budget production. I thought the outer perimeter security was rather funny with the umbrellas as security screens. The production might have thought Mike was a spy for another production. I see the GiV's video as FREE PUBLICITY for this production. A long shot here: this production company invites Mike into the set and meets the actor portraying Michael Jackson. I hope this biopic does very well when released.

The umbrellas are ridiculous. You can't see any of the filming from that far away. if they want to close the view, put a huge truck on the corner to block the view.

Hey Mike, Too bad you did not have a drone to get sound shots from above (Where is the 360 pole when you need it)! Umbrellas? Maybe they should have setup the Fast and Furious big walls to cover up the filming. I don't think they were expecting you or anyone else to show up! Great coverage. Too bad you could not get on top of the roof of that big white building. How cool would that have been (You probably would have been demonetized for that).
Some areas in LA are restricted from flying drones and can be temporarily restricted as well and the police can order you to land your drone as well and hit you with a FAA fine if they wish if you don't have a license to fly in that area
