I started with left hand reeling and spinning reels as a kid and it just made sense to keep reeling with the left hand when I started 30 years ago with a bait casting. Watching the professionals fishing with right hand cranking and then switching hands still make me chuckle.
There's a reason why spinning reels are oriented left retrieve from the factory, it's because that is the most intuitive way for a right handed angler to fish.
Used right hand reel for 4yrs and then I switch to left hand reel and never look back, i just realize that right hand reel is a waste time, by switching hand; i can use that stupid time switching hand to make another cast and cover more water; just saying
i am right handed and only retrieve right handed. zero clue how anyone can justify retrieving opposite just because its a casting or spinning. Just pick one and stick to it. but i can cast with either hand. it depends on my boat position, if im alone, and whats my target.
