I've been long range shooting all my life and the only thing I thouroughly enjoy more than the ballistics & ammunition in EFT, is watching everyone's knowledge evolve. Not many games out there that let shoot the rock you're glassing over if your scope AND barrel don't clear your cover. You did a great job explaining the relationship between barrel length and velocity,. Keep up the good content!
4:19 Oh yeah, one of the Russian law enforcement agencies was unwise enough to issue Glocks (for which quite a hefty sum was paid) with 7N31 only to find that they die after about 2000 rounds. 5:06 If only BSG knew how to read stats properly (and tried to ask around a bit, I guess), than the second fastest would actually be 5.45 PS at 900 m/s. 5:45 Actually the figures given look as if achieved from 20" barrel, while 5.45 ones are for 415 mm one. Again, BSG can't read the data from the looks of it. And from the aerodynamic point of view most if not all 5.56 military bullets look rather poor when compared to 5.45, while simultaneously being heavier as well.
Exactly as he said, you get some of the best recoil reduction using a comp and then a suppressor over the top. And it negates the crazy amount of smoke you get on the 'non suppressed' low recoil builds (jailbrake or ferfrans) which makes fighting with a red dot in cqb harder, although does give much better ergo
Take a mosin (sniper) and put the 7.62×51 adapter and then SHREWD muzzle. Put PS,BT,SNB in it and you get 1034 m/s The only thing that can do better (in terms of travel time) is .338 FMJ from the AXMC with the suppressor(982m/s) The DVL-10 and T-5000 can get faster speeds then the mosin with m993 but the bullet looses speed much faster then the 7.62×54R so the mosin bullet will have a faster travel time.
This is why I love this game. 1500 hours in and I'm constantly learning something new little nuances that this game has. This will definitely help getting some of those long range kills done. Thanks for doing the research and putting out a video!
This is a great in-depth video! Definitely picked up a few tips about muzzle velocity here. I always inherently knew that bullets had an impact on muzzle velocity, but I didn't realise just how much of a driving factor they could be! Keep up the good work mate!
The difference between M993 and M61 meant that with a Remington 700 suppressed I could use a 250 meter zero instead of 300 shooting from the reserve radar dome to the top of the train station bunkers. So yes, it is nice that someone made a video about it.
Now that the "best" round in the game does 36 damage, I would love to see a guide on flesh damage reduction and how that works. Besides penetration of terrain, I've heard people say that distance, barrel length, velocity, target armor, and maybe even other variables can all change the damage of a round by at least a point or 2. And it makes me skeptical to use the new round out of fear that my damage will be reduced by 2 at some point, and my target will survive a headshot. Haven't seen an in depth video on the subject in all my years of playing. Would love to finally have a solid answer. This might be a bit challenging though as you'll need people to test it.
It's a great idea. I think you're possibly right about the headshot issue because I've heard the same for apsx too, but never seen it fully tested out. I'll note it down, not sure if I can get enough time to do something on it but never say never!
I would assume it's the same as recoil in that it adds up as multipliers of the base value. (Ironicly making it less useful compared to multiplying because its addative vs subtractive)
I would love to see 300 Winchester magnum. It goes about as fast as 5.56 and can carry a huge amount of energy. It’s a true long range anti-personnel sniper cartridge.
IMPORTANT. Weapons and scoopes are harmonized with each other in tarkov like in real life. If you change the attributes of the weapon such as muzzle velocity, it will be difficult to get the binocular setting. The ideal schedule of the rifle is indicated with a red border. If the bullet velocity is at the exact end point of the rifle, you will hit the target from a scope selected 50 meters. If you are going to shoot at a target around 100 meters, you will either adjust the distance setting of the binoculars to 100 or you will adjust it yourself. If you raise the 800m / s muzzle velocity rifle to 1000m / s and shoot with the scope, the bullet will travel faster than normal and will go above the point you normally aim (the attribute of the weapon). However, there is a much more important point. It is unusual for those who make this Tarkov game or get into such detail. Before the release of Tarkov, players played fps with such false and ridiculous calculations. They have difficulty perceiving the real laws of physics. It is really difficult for them to make any game that can compete with Tarkov. After Tarkov, all of the other fps games remain just simple games. The difference should be understood as follows. Primary school basic Math vs Abstract Algebra.
I remember on shoreline i had a Vepr/VPO 209 with .366 AP. I killed this poor guy from 208 meters away by hitting his legs first, then he proned thinking i was in the bushes. So my 8 foot hold over his head was now hitting him in the upper body region. It took about 20 shots but i got him.
I think offline is great for learning maps, spawns, practising killing scavs (including Bosses), trying out loot runs and even attempting fetch quests that you're finding hard. Emulated I havent ever tried, as I use it purely for those things above not really for a pve gameplay experience - tarkov would be a bit boring for me without the other players but I'm sure some people would like the freedom to chill out and wander around killing scavs and maybe bosses
Since you brought it up, the 7N31 9mm ammo would not function in any of the 9mm weapons currently in the game. It actually has a pistol designed specifically for it, the GsH-18. Forgotten Weapons has a vid talking about Russian AP ammo with a Russian firearms expert and he said that in US standards it would be something like a 9mm +P+++ load. In standard weapons you'd likely destroy the firearms internals in just a few rounds depending on fire rate. I find it odd that BSG has not brought that pistol in specifically for it since there is currently a similar mechanic in the game with 9x18 PstM not being able to be fired out of Kedrs but being fired out of the Klin due to the difference in pressure resistance.
@@Gigabeef I'd love it. They did give the ammo a crazy high durability burn of 70% at least. But hey, can't go making the ammo realistic if it messes with the juice boys' happiness amirite? I just want to use PstM in the Kedr-B dang it.
