- Kennecott Copper (previously Utah Copper) did most of their own work and maintenance on their roster of large electric shovels at the mine. The constant movement of equipment takes a toll on this heavy machinery, and hast to be maintained and repaired at times. The job of this heavy-duty mechanics was the job of the bull gang. The Bull Gang was also always first on the scene when there was a wreck at the mine. Correction I said the 757 motor when it was the 752 motor on its side. Most of the pictures are from the Larry Sax collection found at utahrails.net.
I always look forward to your Friday videos! I wonder how many hours that equipment had on them. Probably a million hours but all in the same place. Thank you for keeping history alive.
Great comment, a lot of hours, Thanks.
awesome video i have one of those for the layout but it needs to work on its 50 years old
Thanks Dwight, that is cool.
We had bull gangs at Flin Flon. My older brother was on the smelter bull gang in the mid 1980's. Several times you show a picture with crane 602 and shovel 36. Do you know if shovel 36 was a Marion 4160? We had two of those in the open pit at Flin Flon.
Thank you for this comment, I'm not sure if the Marion was a 4160, I am checking into Flin Flon.
