Thanks for your review Tharbamar! I’ve noticed a few things with my 530s I’d like to share. The brightness and clarity of the 530 can change pretty significantly by changing up the wiring configuration with the 4 binding posts. Using top post only produced a smoother more natural sounding treble response in my system. When I use the bottom only (with jumpers of course) the treble can sound a bit harsh and over driven. I am currently using a configuration with the positive wire on the top post and the negative wire on the bottom post- this is my favorite configuration thus far, the treble sounds natural and the bass produced by the speaker sounds good. There are sometime mechanical noises from the grill of the 530 with certain frequencies. If you fidget with it a bit, or remove it, you can get rid of the noise. Port chuff I once noticed with the 530s is audibly undetectable since I got heavier stands and quality amplification. Also, perhaps they just needed to brake-in.
My home theater is made up of jbl studio 520 and 530 and they sound great. Through my computer I us 30+ yr old pioneer hpm-60's (also great). Your demo does show a difference in sound. I got the 520's and 530's during jbl's occassional sale so I'm happy. Love your videos.
When JBL Studio 5 came out a decade ago some reviewers dubbed it a fun speaker. I didn't understand what it meant until I heard your comparisons of the 630 Vs 530. The 630 probably sounds a bit smoother and more detailed but it is in no way near the attack transient, realism, and spaciousness of the 530.
When watching movies I am sometimes amazed at what I hear with the 530s. The sound stage is so wide on occasion I end up rewinding the movie just it make sure I really heard what I thought I did. It's typically when I hear something that's to the outside of the speaker placement. Like, how the hell can I hear that over there?
Thanks for this comparison. The Studio 630s are $700 and have traditional good looks, but the Studio 530s look like Batman's speaker and only cost $240 when on-sale; so it's the 530s for me! ✌️
$240!? I always see them at $299 when JBL does there 50% off sale every 3-4 and cycles through there 5 series speakers over about a month. Not meant as an criticism to the video owner, but in my experience with both sets of speakers, 530 has a 'spaciousness' that the 630 did not inherit and it cannot be demonstated in this video. Hi Tharbamar. I have a question about playing music from Apple Music. What connection do you recommend? MacBook Air + DAC via USB or iPad/iPhone + DAC also via USB? Or do you think it doesn't matter?
I run 590 LCR, 580 side and 570s rears with 4x 530 as my atmos hieghts. All powered through my marantz 7705 and a series of qsc cxd & Cx amps. The system is epic, the dynamic capability is just stupid. The speakers really come alive with real power!. Love the speakers.

@@Tharbamar Any recommendations for an amplifier upgrade in the $1000 range? Love the 630 Studios but feel they could benefit from a better amp than the 600NE. Love your videos!
My 530s sound amazing for the little I paid for them. Warning: If you crank them super loud the bass port in the rear can make a farting sound. I never play them that loud so for me it's not a problem.
The cabinets are similar to the HDI series, but JBL uses the cheaper Studio 5 drivers, whereas the HDI's use one of the Synthesis tweeters. The one internal improvement is the crossover network on the 6's compared to the 5's.
Unfortunately you can no longer buy JBL Studio 530. 😟 In the women's voices you can tell that the JBL 630 sounds more natural, which sounds 530, good for jazz and electonic music, under no circumstances for rock. I owned the 530 2 years, unfortunately I have sold it ...😡
630's are better. 2 reasons. 1st reason is shape of the tweeter horn. An elongated tweeter horn in the 530s will increase highs making them sound harsher. Second reason is the closer the tweeter is to the mid/bass driver like in the 630's the better they blend together for a more balanced sound.
And 3rd: the 630's look MUCH nicer when you remove the grills on both models. I never use grills but in the 530's case I would have to make an exception :)
A studio 630 tem péssimos crossovers. Os eletrolíticos colorem o som do woofer e deixam sem definição. O upgrade nestes componentes e a troca dos indutores melhora muito o som.
The 530 actually has a 4" woofer, even per JBL product description. Although they also say it's a 5.25". The out diameter of the surround is 4.5". The cone itself is 4". A far cry from 5.25".

What's funny is i have the 530s as front height speakers in my 3.1.2 system together with an s center, and 590s all hooked up to my denon x3400 but the 590s use a qsc rmx 1450 for the amp, so sometimes i forget to turn on the qsc that i end up realizing several songs later with just the 530s and s center 😂lmao
Thank you….!
What is/who makes the small rack the Denon is on?
I did.
@@TharbamarLooks nice
Sem discussão os Studios 530 são VERDADEIROS JBL'S e muito melhores tudo depende do amplificador por traz! Exepcionais para os ouvidos e muito mais atraentes de se ver. 😉
Can 630 be driven by Denon 600ne ? It is a good choice?
Yes definitely.
@@Tharbamar Any recommendations for an amplifier upgrade in the $1000 range? Love the 630 Studios but feel they could benefit from a better amp than the 600NE.
Love your videos!
@@crisrosca8715 Personally I would pair with newer Denon 2000 series in used, thanks
Whoa, Them there I have never had. I don't doubt the sound.
How it compares to 500m II?
Hi will the topping pa7 plus sufficient to drive the jbl studio 630?
Should not be any problem within capability of the speakers.
Is 630 hard to drive?
Not at all as little as 20 watts(good quality) will do.

My 530s sound amazing for the little I paid for them. Warning: If you crank them super loud the bass port in the rear can make a farting sound. I never play them that loud so for me it's not a problem.
hello you should try the triangle comet EZ they are amazing
I’m confused are these speakers the same as the HDI-1600? As when I search in the UK the studio 630, that’s what comes up?
No, they are not. Thw 6 series Cheaper cabinet, cheaper tweeter/compression driver, cheaper woofer. HDI has better components in every way.

@@thomasc1753 oh brilliant so the HEL-1600 is and even better model!
The cabinets are similar to the HDI series, but JBL uses the cheaper Studio 5 drivers, whereas the HDI's use one of the Synthesis tweeters. The one internal improvement is the crossover network on the 6's compared to the 5's.
HOW ABOUT JBL HDI1600 Vs 530
Studio 530 is absolutely "Live", compared to 630...no more comments
The 630s sound significantly better than the 530s, in my opinion. So they should, I suppose...
I agree ☝️
Unfortunately you can no longer buy JBL Studio 530. 😟
In the women's voices you can tell that the JBL 630 sounds more natural, which sounds 530, good for jazz and electonic music, under no circumstances for rock.
I owned the 530 2 years, unfortunately I have sold it ...😡
JBL STUDIO 530 THE BEST!😎
looks like the 630s stole the cabnet design from the 230s and added better woofer tweeter and crossover. Im sure the sound quality is a step or 2 up
530s seems ti have a wider range, feels more complete or human
530🎼🎵🎶👌💯
What is the song?
Heart of gold by Senor Neil Young
Thank you😊
model viborg... please
630's sound great, even better than the HDI 1600?
the 630 has a more natural sound to me, 530 mids are more there. both sound good
630's are better.
539 premium sound.
A+
530 for me
630👌🏻
530👌👌👌
630 sounds much better
Team 530s
if only the JBL 5 center was a nice 3 way. It's always a certain something.
too box-like sound the 530 to me. These 630 are very interesting
remove the metal bracjet on the speaker terminals
That's only if you plan to bi-amp or bi-wire.
A studio 630 tem péssimos crossovers. Os eletrolíticos colorem o som do woofer e deixam sem definição. O upgrade nestes componentes e a troca dos indutores melhora muito o som.
JBL 6-5-inch vs JBL 5-1/4-inch Driver Come on 🤔
The 620 would provide a better comparison.
The 530 actually has a 4" woofer, even per JBL product description. Although they also say it's a 5.25". The out diameter of the surround is 4.5". The cone itself is 4". A far cry from 5.25".
10:05 vs 13:15
630 is way better.
Studio 630 by a country mile 🎉 530 is a no for me
530 after break in sound totally different at least mine do. They do not have as hallow or resonant type sound. The vocals are clean and crisp and present. Since I paid $230 for the pair I am enamored with the sound. It took about 100 hours to break in with aggressive listening 85-90 DBs. Mine are totally transformed. I would imagine most people probably would not reach this point for quite a while. I push the tweeter and woofer with aggressive tone control adjustments for each song backing off every third song. Over a couple weekends they were transformed and are amazing
.
@@kendoglarson5419 i love how you defend the 530 on every post by using break in as an excuse. What a sheep.
@@AbsoluteFidelity 530's are too resolving and they need warm sounding equipment.
@@beslemeto too resolving? You are kidding right? I owned the 590s and 530s and they are not resolving.
@@AbsoluteFidelity Bro 530 are very open and detailed sounding speakers are you kidding me? What are you running them with?
Awesome Job !
