- This variety is Grand Nain. Lakatan Its a popular banana. Just like the chicita you see in stores. Its the 2nd generation this time, the pup from mother plant last year. My fruits are all organic, no sprays pesticides nothing. It is excellent fruit, sweet and soo good.
Wow beautiful banana
Wow 😳 very healthy banana 😍😍
How do you keep it proped up to keep it from falling over ?
My grand nain finally has a pre flag leaf and ready to produce bananas, it took two years from a small plant to getting a pre flag leaf
Wow...well the rain certainly helps.
I was growing Lakatan from a seedling lol i even made composted soil/ water just by mixing banana peels with soil and also if it made a banana bunch I will use the method that Dole used to grow bananas. Also cutting of the heart can speed up banana bunch growth
That's interesting. I just picked some of my Cavendish today. about 4 clumps. Then I have a ice cream due soon ,about 3 more weeks
How do you get them to grow so fast? mine doesn’t grow THAT fast but still growing
Good banana
STEVE JUST GORGEOUS 😍
Oh I was talking bananas with a friend. I asked if he eats the flower and he said no but does cut it off at some point so the production goes to the fruit and not the flower. Interesting right? Sounds like it's real. That's so cool, I want one
Yes,I will cut off the flower pod after its done blooming . I just was out there trying to count,I got up to about 200 and can't count em cause so thick!
@@steveandjenny149 ah no way. wow thats so cool. I love to grow things. I always have ever since I was a wee lad lol. If I had your weather I would be growing my own food and meds thats for sure
How long does it take to get ripe bananas from when the flower bud first comes out?
Oh, about 2 to 3 months
Does the trunk have to be around 6 feet tall minus the leaves until it flowers?
About that size on a grand main, 5 to 6 ft.
🐼👍
What do u do to them in the winter
Nothing, let them grow
I got some banana fuel fertilizer off of Amazon for my bananas it’s supposed to help them grow healthier and a lot faster
Hi, What ferilizer do you use and how often? Ty
@@toymot for banana....nothing.
@steveandjenny149 Wow, that's good to know. Ty. I've been putting chicken manure every month with banana peel water still waiting for the flower on my gran nains 12 months old.
beautiful plannt!! our grand nain is in bloom forr the first time. should we remove the pups or leave them? any idea if the tree lives after harvest? any info would be helpful.
@Lena : the pups it depends. If you want to keep growing bananas , I want till it has full stock of fruit, then let one of the pups grow,(a sword sucker) for the next crop. The mother tree will push-up pups constantly, I dig up as it's growing. When your tree is ready to pick the fruit, cut tree down, and let the pup you kept continue to grow for next crop. I think I posted videos of this. Keep just the sword suckered. The wide leaf ones no good.
What is location on plant?, It looks like it is so small is it real g9
My grand nain banana continues to put out huge new leaves and the new the leaf it just put out is already touching the top of the greenhouse, the next leaves it puts out I may need to cut them back a little bit since they will be too big
@@steveandjenny149 The trunk is about 5 feet tall
I can hear the kill bill bamboo thump every now n then.😂
Four your panane musa grand nain, is bio nature of printed 2021.thak your home🗡️
How long tell they first flower from a young plant
About 5 to 6 months
Nice looking banana mate
I’m looking into grand naine because 6 are available from a online nursery and thinking I’m going to purchase 1
Do u have a goldfinger banana. Wondering if grand naine is a smaller shrub as I’ll have to greenhouse for next winter as I’m in one of the coldest cities in Australia
No golfdinger. The grand nain is my favorite. It stays low, easy to get to. Fast fruiting. Big bananas. Cavendish is very similar, just a bit taller and little smaller fruit. 👍
@@steveandjenny149 many thanks
I purchased it
Grand main banana fruits look like the bananas from the grocery store
Yeah, they're really good too, better than a chicita
How tall do they get while fruiting
About five to six feet tall. Why I like them, easy to harvest
What’s the lowest temperature they can take
It been 38 degree here. But only few days.
@@steveandjenny149 Our greenhouse would only get to the mid 40s in January. So it should do OK
From plant to harvest how many month
Approximately 8 to 10 months
the grand nain i purchased about 3 weeks ago seems to be growing slow how can i tell if it is a grand nain or not.
I'm not sure, do u have pics ? What size is it? They grow pretty fast. Like alot if water.
@al what area are you in? These banana like heat and water. Not flooded, but alot of water. You will get one crop, once a year, but can start saving pups and propagating them.
@@steveandjenny149 i will send pictures tommorrow
@@steveandjenny149 im in south orlando i allready have about 8 different bananas just wondering about this grand nain
@@alcapot6752 ok, yeah I'm over on opposite side, sw Florida gulf coast. The grand nain, big leaves, and i guess until it fruits will you know. Mine grew pretty fast,,they don't get tall which is nice. Short stalks, easy to reach the fruit.
the blossom of a lakatan isnt elongated and the tip isnt as pointed as the one you showing. that could be bulungan not lakatan...new subs from zamboanga
Thank you, I will change name 👍
I hope my grand nain banana fruits, it’s growing in the ground in a greenhouse
@@steveandjenny149 I’m not sure if it was a pup or not but it probably is, I got it online. It hasn’t reached the fruiting size yet but it’s getting there
@@steveandjenny149 Wow 200 bananas on one banana tree is ALOT
