  • The WWDC took place in San José starting May 10, 1999. It was essentially a "progress report" as the plans outlined in WWDC 1998 came to fruition. Three major announcements were the "opening" of the operating system underlying the new OS as Darwin, improvements to the Macintosh Finder, and the replacement of QuickDraw 3D with OpenGL as the primary 3D API. The system formerly known as OpenStep, and referred to during development as "Yellow Box" was formally re-named "Cocoa". Source: wikipedia.org

MacOS 9 and early Mac OS versions where a pleasure to feel and look at... but these new versions really look unified, uncrafted and cardboard.

When I worked at Apple we all dreaded having to do ANYTHING in OS9, I fucking hated that OS. I worked previously at IBM then Intel so I was a PC guy but when I saw OSX... then the G4 Cube... I was a Mac guy after that. I still have my G4 Cube in its original box, I need to bust that baby out.
