For this Comparison we are using the same ukulele model, this is the KALA Spalted Mango Tenor Ukulele KA-MG-T, you can find it in the #1 Ukulele online shop store.ukelikethepros.com, one of these tenors is set up with the D'Addario Titanium Ukulele Strings Tenor (EJ87T) and the other one with the D'Addario Pro-Arté Carbon Ukulele Strings, Tenor High G (EJ99T).

The titanium sounded great when picking. However, I liked the fluorocarbon when strumming.
As a harp player and a Uke player...I prefer the sound and the thicker feel of the Titanium strings. They also have a moodier tone which is great for all the minor key stuff I play :-) Thanks for the review.

Absolutely agreed with Fluorocarbon as the better strumming strings. Clear open sound. The titaniums sounded a bit strangled. I have both strings on tenor and baritone ukulele and I know that clunkier titanium feel on certain ukes.
Fluorocarbon did sound thin picked but lovely strummed.
I currently have D'Addario Titanium on my baritone and D'Addario Fluorocarbon Low G on my tenor. This video was right up my alley. Nice to see you covering the string options.
Great video bro! Also love the hair cut ( v^-゜)♪ The titanium strings sound more 8-bit video game like to my ears. An awesome, nostalgic sound. . . as I was raised on Nintendo and Super Nintendo. Will keep in mind next time I want to uke out some Mario Cart tunes.
Being new to Ukes, how long should i expect a set of quality strings to last. I know that is a bit of a loaded question, but coming from guitars, i don't have a frame of reference to begin with at all.
Hey Terry, put the titanium strings on a cedar or spruce top and see what you get there. Also, the flora carbon sounded better on that particular ukulele. But if you change up and put it on a cedar or Spruce top, you will see the difference! I might be wrong but maybe !!!

The Titanium sounds good on both strumming and plucking for red cedar. I have a red cedar top, mahogany side and back ukulele.

How about which string is more stable? I've used the titanium on my baritone for years, I love them, but they are always slipping out of key. I'm starting to think it's the strings, not the instrument (I've had it checked by 2 luthiers). Are flourocarbon more stable?
I'd like to see how a set of Aquila Reds compared to anything comparable - I love them and anytime I string with something different for a change I pull the different strings off after a couple of days and put reds back on. The A has broken a few times though - I wish they sold singles as replacements!
I put reds on my concert once and wasn't s huge fan, but I do love them on my baritone, but strings are really up to personal taste. it is unfortunate how fragile they are, for me it's always the D string that goes first, would be nice if they sold single replacements.
@@joewell6435 interesting, I'm curious, would you mind explaining what makes you dislike them on the concert but like them on the baritone?
Got my first Uke on the way, has titanium from factory, but also ordered a set of flurocarbon low g's for it. I know from my large herd of guitars, that my best acoustics don't sound good with anything but one brand, yet on cheaper guitars, those same strings do nothing for the sound, especially considering the premium price. Its a bit of a search, but when you find the ones, you know it. Also, some strings may sound fine, but do they let your fingers move smoothly, which is just as important as sound to me.
Already spent hours on your channel and won't have my Uke for a few more days. Wish I had found your site before I ordered so I could have given you the business. I agreed with your final thoughts on the sound as well.
I didn't hear a lot of difference in the strumming. However, on the fingerpicking the titanium sounded kind of tinny to me. For me the fluorocarbon strings seem the best fit.
Thank you for the comparison Terry, I was able to hear and get a pro uke player's opinion before ordering strings for 1 of my top clients and pro uke player Mr James Gillies. The titanium strings win in my opinion. 'Like' Smashed you rock uke dude

The titanium sounds brighter and more professional. In comparison the carbon strings sound like your playing a toy ukulele. That’s the only way I can describe the difference that I hear in them. Yes, the titaniums are thicker and sound nicer when fingerpicking. I replaced my tenor strings with the titanium and haven’t looked back.

Fluorocarbons win. As you said, the Titaniums sounded a little better picked. But the Flourocarbons sounded MUCH better strummed.
It was pretty hard to tell the difference while a backing track was distracting me. 😢 Otherwise, thanks for the comparison!
The Titanium sounds good on a red cedar top and mahogany side and back ukulele.
It sounds good.
I play with a medium Fender pick, so the Titanium may be a better choice for me. (No strummng) I tune in 4ths starting with low G tuned down to E. EADG. I'm more like lead guitar on uke.
Now the next thing I wanna know is *HOW TO RESTRING THE UKULELE WITH THE METAL STRINGS*
I think both strings sound great, but I’m leaning towards the fluorocarbon
The fluorocarbon sounds brighter to me and projects better. The titanium strings are softer esp. when strumming.
You should not do backing tracks, just rhythm if you have to but we want to hear them alone. thank you for your vids
I wish I'd watched this before ordering some titaniums! I def prefer the fluorocarbon.
Fluorocarbon for strumming and Titanium for fingerpicking.
I like titanium more as for me, it produce warmer sound that I love💞
I find the titanium are a bit thick under my hand and it make it harder to strum/pick. Not my personal favorite strings.

The titanium has higher definition picking single strings but the titanium has more balance and projection.
There is too much compression in the audio.

While I like and prefer D’Addario strings, I think what they said was 110% marketing bullshit. Biggest difference? The color of the strings… 😆
