Today we’ll have a look at the latest addition in TAG Heuer’s most emblematic collection, the Carrera. While mostly focused on chronograph models, for more than 20 years, the Carrera has also been available in 3-hand models, after the collection was relaunched during the mid-1990s. And following the complete overhaul of the chronograph models last year, TAG Heuer now comes with several new watches, including the new Carrera Day-Date 41mm we’ll be discovering today, as well as classic time-and-date and GMT models.
While purists may look at these new models as something less emblematic, the concept of a non-chronograph Carrera has been around for decades. And even without its chronograph function, the TAG Heuer Carrera Day-Date is undeniably part of the Carrera family and is immediately recognizable.

I own the previous generation blue dial day date. This line is just amazing. A hair large (the date only is 39mm), it is a very complete setup and can easily be your only watch. I think most do not realize how good they are as they present amazing value in the luxury watch segment. They are about half the price of an Aqua Terra.
I was just about to pull the trigger on an AT. This caught my eye and love the look online. Cant find one in stock near me. Trying to decide between the 41 & 39. Would you say the open bezel is a little large on the 41? Seems like the 39mm is maybe a touch more porportionate?
@John kae I actually feel it works well with either the 41mm or 39mm. The 41mm only feels large next to the 39mm in person. But the 41mm day date is a bit thick. Once again you do not notice on its own but side by side with the 39mm date only, you notice. But I could not be happier.
@@planetdee3587 Thanks for the reply! Appreciate the info and very helpful.
Just bought one (41mm) w/black dial & rose gold and simply cannot wait to put it on! I've been doing some shopping around for a few weeks now wanting to add something with a wee bit more luxury to my growing collection and couldn't be happier. I know TAG is a bit of a polarizing brand, but truly feel they've been slept on for some time.
I bought a week ago the same model ❤❤❤
So did I!! Lol
Just bought this watch and I love it. Thank you for the video. It really assisted with my decision 👍🏽
Wonderful to hear that, thanks for the comment! And enjoy the watch!!
Picked up the black & gold, absolutely beautiful. It really is fantastic for an everyday & can be dressed up if needed. Highly recommend if anyone is thinking of picking up one of these models.
very nice! I like the black dial
First hand user here, comparing to outgoing model imo:
+ removal of calibre 5 text on dial
+ fresh design of hands & hour markers (dual stick/sword style)
+ slimmer and shorter lugs
+ slimmer side profile & case
+ new design of bracelet (slimmer, lighter, and feels slightly more comfy)
- lug width is 21.5 mm (fit 22 mm strap), clasp width 19.5 mm
- same old movement/calibre 5
So the lug to lug length is shorter than the previous version?
@@steven821130 the prev one is 49mm, the 2021 model from my measurement is 47mm (using ruler). it's quite noticable on my hand & wears more compact
@@Fervor1878 Thanks a lot! I’m considering to get the 39mm and hope the lug to lug is also smaller.
That's a valuable piece of information. Thank you.
I have the previous Day Date version which I love. All the positives you mention are great. The one negative of the bracelet size going from 20mm to 22mm out weighs all the positives to me. That is a major negative. I purchased 4 comfortable straps to go with my Carrera, all of different colors. I love the 20mm size. But I guess that is all just a matter of preference.
Bought mine today on an impulse. And now im.learning all about it
Same!
As competent these watches are, they will be overlooked by most of the watch crowd, just like the predecessor...really a shame, since the offer a great allround, every day watch, with a timeless, fuss free design.
The vast majority of people buying mechanical watches should not be considered the watch crowd to us. We at team MONOCHROME are full-on nerds. We buy our watches with completely different arguments than most people do.
People don’t bother buying these cause your not brainwashed from the bigger brands eg Rolex junkie drug dealer watches 🤣🤣 tag is classy and nice…it’s just some individuals are hyped up by Rolex etc
@@CalvinCooke18 Very true. Also seems most of these people don't buy the watches cause they like the way they look and perform, they buy watches that will hold their value and can be seen as an investment. Hence why they only tend to go for certain brands and releases.
@@OpheliaNL it's mad like yes dont get me wrong there are nice rolex out there , I'm in the middle in looking at a few videos about them, but for something different and price a far bit cheaper / if not better made check out tag , some quality timepieces with them

It all feels a bit hypocritical to me. People say that TH watches are overpriced for what you get and that statement would be more applicable if they didn't overpay for other brands that only hold more value cause others say so. What's considered valuable is socially constructed, especially if you think about the materials watches are made out of and the movements inside. It's even funnier when Rolex folk make the statement that TH has become somewhat of a fashion watch because of all the advertisements over the years, while Rolex is advertised to death too. Not to mention that most only buy it as an accessory instead of using it to tell the time or appreciating what's on the inside, so it all becomes a big snobbish circle jerk. If people are willing to pay grey market prices that are at least 20 to 30% over the retail price then they are overpaying by default and at that point, it becomes a bit ridiculous to call other brands overpriced. Besides, most people do not have a couple thousand euros to spend on a watch, so for them, it's overpriced anyway. And one could make the argument that watches are nothing more than status symbols and accessories nowadays, especially if you're not a collector, cause everyone carries a mobile phone with them anyway. So yeah... TL;DR Watch snobs are annoying as fuck
Can you hand wind it ?
Yes of course
@@Monochrome-watches What size replacement watch band is it ?
Thanks for movie. This time, Im first😋. I have older model, tag heuer Carrera Calibre 5 blue dial. In my opinion, new model is definitly more slim. One negative aspect, in new version is, cheaper finishing logotype on bracelet clasp. In my watch this detals is beauty. In my opinion, company looking for save money☹️. I, wiil have full opinion, when l will this watch in hands. Thanks😊.
🔥
I don't like the indices on the new one.
Like seiko 5
Looks good, but I lost trust in TAG
How come?
I didn't realize that TAG was still around, I thought everyone would have caught on by now. I guess there's something for everybody.
Snob
You must live under a rock as they are the number three highest sold brand in the USA. 8 globally.
