Rust was never ever designed as a solo game and its sheer coincidence that it has ever functioned as one at all. they also should never design with solos in mind. it's not a solo game. a group has been better than a solo literally for the games entire existence. playing solo has always been the unofficial challenge mode. every single update people complain about 'the state of the game' and have for years and years yet the game is doing incredibly well and is still one of the highest and most consistently played paid games on the market.
I don't play rust because it is not my type of game, but mad respect to the devs for being able to spew out so much high quality updates in such a short amount of time. Biggest reason why I try to support the rust community is because of dedicated the devs really are
After such a long wait, finally some decent updates. At this point, RUST 2 is making alot more sense. Just forget all the bugs, glitches and other broken mechanics and start fresh, could've had it wrapped up by now if they started once they saw how broken the game was becoming.
I've never would've thought that the game I purchased so many years ago, the least promising of the early access era when every game was released unfinished and ended up staying unfinished, was going to become, by far, the best early access ever in history by terms of developing and updating.
they have the best update cycle in gaming. monthly guaranteed updates you can always expect for years now. the only people that complain about this game are the idiot solos that are too introverted to turn on their mic who don't realize Rust has always and will forever be designed around its large server populations. it's effectively a massively multiplayer game and should be designed as such.
@@zebulaun I know you can land on it. The issue is not everyone is great at piloting to avoid the error of crashing. At 2,250 scrap, that’s a huge investment to just crash each time your in a hurry to land. Putting the helipad would make it more user friendly and less likely to crash. A tug/heli combo would be an amazing combo for both rigs and labs. Especially for solos who can’t carry all the loot in one inventory
There needs to be an inexpensive MANPAD available for solos to counter this new heli, like a Strela/Stinger. It would be nice to see a roaming SPAAG added, like a ZSU-23-4, that would wreck these things. Maybe the ZSU could escort the Bradley as they patrol.
Got to play with Helk on Staging yesterday. He mentioned the new heli being a little too fast and would like to see the pilot be able to shoot the rockets. We'll see how it goes!
I think you should be able to use the gunner and fire missile while flying at the same time in the gunner, but instead it's fixed on wherever the heli is aiming, that way solos can also use the heli and it's not only for duo+, but when a passenger is in the seat, they would be able to control the gunner and fire wherever they want.

Mixed emotions as a solo duo style player. It's awesome that facepunch has been working hard and giving us persistent good content. But at the same time it's fazing some people out especially us solos and duos. It's a double edge sword. No one will ever be happy but it's nice to see big things added. It will still be fun.

I love how "The Team" is trying to integrate items like backpacks that have been on modded for years. Honestly, it's refreshing and I think the more options the better! Oblivion showed the attack heli using regular rockets just yesterday. Perhaps it's one of those items that were subject to change.... Great video as always, look forward to the next one!
The problem is deciding how to integrate them in a balanced way. Modded servers don't always care about balance, zergs would be very op with backpacks so would be better to restrict to solos.
No changes to offline raid meta, tech tree system, near infinite respawns, any sort of a change to make roof camping less effective , but woo we have a helicopter
The attack heli addition and the clan table are the final things I needed to finally sell all my collection of skins as a working husband. Officially can't even bother with this game anymore lmao.
I love the low res gunner view it has now, it makes more sense to have lower quality equipment on a thrown together attack helicopter and also serves as a kind of balancing factor to make it not as OP as it could otherwise be.
I love that you can arm the assault chopper with the trumpet. I won't rest until I see a short of someone on a missile attack run while their partner plays Flight of the Valkyries on a dollar store quality trumpet.
Played this game since the 2nd day on steam and only 300 hours total over like 10 years.... but I'm just amazed how committed the devs are. I think they just want to make a good game.

They just do not address the controversial oppinoins which i think you are refrerring to. The best example for that is recoil. Half the player base wants recoil and the other half either doesnt care or wants to keep the old recoil. What part of the community are they supposed to listen to?
I heard incendiary rockets and instantly started thinking about apocalypse now. And the plane, I’m just thinking about deployable catapult runways and the possibilities. I remember that there was a server add on that added biplanes and there was a pilot that could drop bombs or torpedos and rockets, then the gunner had an stationary m249 that could use any ammo. All in all, I’m more excited for the plane.
I'm really liking the backpack idea... I feel it should have been in the game a LONG time ago. I can build rocket launchers and auto turrets but don't know how to build a bag to put my things in?
Welp I mean Your character literally can Carry a Ton of Stuff like MLRS Rockets or multiple Rocket launchers. Even tho your character Doesn't actually seem to be carrying a Backpack with him. (Looks like he is probably carrying a small Void dimension with him to carry stuff) Forget about backpacks realistically your character shouldn't be able carry that Much Weight because it's Physically Impossible for a Human to carry that Much Weight without getting Crushed to Death in the first place by the weight of the items.
You have to add headlights all helicopters to the Mini as well. Add the parachute, the backpack finally. especially improve the brightness of the night, so too much even in the water you see absolutely nothing. It would be enough that the Moon would shed some light on the world of Rust. It doesn't take long.
Man, I had a good time scouting edge of map boats because they were always huge loot pinatas. Took some time but they were easy to spot when you got in render distance. Shame this drift mechanic is coming in, people wont do that as much anymore when their loot pinata floats back to the island.
Would love to see some kind of hinges for floor pieces. Opening rooftops ect for James bond style helli storage . Traps . The possibilities are endless. Make it happen shadowfracs . Top work as always
Yeah I've always thought they should give us some type of large hanger style door that we can use to make garages for the helis. Something 2 squares wide or something like that.
I've NEVER played RUST. I've watched many vids here and there but the fact that a mini apache is coming to the game that can be used to do a flyby dooting just makes me giggle 😂
Honestly it is gonna suck for any casual players. Because atleast before people could to some extend fight geared people using shotguns and what not. I think the most OP aspect is gonna be how hard it is to kill the pilots while enjoying a hail of m2 rounds coming your way.

I don't actually play Rust aside from occasionally hopping onto the same PvE server I've played on for years, and yet I still occasionally check these out to see what new insanity Facepunch have gotten up to xD
Facepuch should really focus on server search and improving the experience regarding game progression, lately playing I just cant find nodes even in snow sometimes and when you get base down you just keep dying to geared players that control most of the monuments in the map. Is impossible to progress when every five minutes you farm a a bow and cloth, or a rev just to die minutes later to a guy with a Tommy that has been running monuments non stop for the past hours. What you gonna do farm barrels and die naked? There is a shroud imbalance of power once you are unable to take down who is on the top. Then as any universe what happens is that the server dies out.
OK but I wish that they gave the scrappy a cargo box. Even a small one like the little boat. It IS a transport heli after all. As a solo player I hope they make it so the person flying can also operate the weaponry too. Maybe something like a hover mode where the pilot can take control of the turret while in a hover even though it makes the chopper more vulnerable. I don't think 2250 scrap is a bad price for what it is. Honestly I expected it to cost more. A decent sized group can gather that amount of scrap really quickly, so I wouldn't be upset if it costed 4k or something like that. Overall pretty mixed about this cause on one hand it is cool, but I wish there was a way to stay competitive against the big groups. Guess I'm going to have to put sam sites on my bases now. I am looking forward to buzzing the cargo ship or large oil with this thing though, that would be pretty fun.
Praying for everyone on high pop servers, had Rust for a year and I haven’t seen too much but this seems like another power creep update making larger groups even more powerful. Scrap is only an issue for solo-trio at best and an update like this seems like it’s catering to those 8 men/zergs where scrap has never been an issue
More new stuff is cool but optimizing old stuff would be way cooler. I get like 40-50 FPS on high pop, high density areas and it's borderline unplayable. 3 years ago I was getting 80-120. I need to upgrade my CPU for sure, but this same CPU doesn't have any problems running anything else at 120 FPS. Only Rust.
With all this attack minded stuff getting added I think it's time they really expand "defense" like base building and traps, and I think Rust can solve rampant offline raiding/servers dying too quickly in a rust way as well. Small groups/solos should have more options to store loot around a map. I think prefab bases could be something that could really work. Especially if they are cheap. Stashes have their place but i think there should be a higher tier stash of some sort, maybe one that can be locked even if pulled and still cost an explosive to break. I think if you allow people to never feel like they are wiped out they will keep coming back.

As someone who lives under an RAF high-speed low-altitude training area and I say they're not loud enough. I am also quite deaf though...
I could be mistaken but I thought you could shoot normal rockets from it as well, Ive seen multiple videos and tiktoks saying you could.

Praying for everyone on high pop servers, had Rust for a year and I haven’t seen too much but this seems like another power creep update making larger groups even more powerful. Scrap is only an issue for solo-trio at best and an update like this seems like it’s catering to those 8 men/zergs where scrap has never been an issue
More new stuff is cool but optimizing old stuff would be way cooler.
I get like 40-50 FPS on high pop, high density areas and it's borderline unplayable.
3 years ago I was getting 80-120.
I need to upgrade my CPU for sure, but this same CPU doesn't have any problems running anything else at 120 FPS. Only Rust.
I can see it now... This will be a flash back to Modern Warfare 2 when a hacker would get an attack chopper kill streak. Then instantly clear the map.

they need to find ways to partially nerf offline raiding and add new traps, then the game will be alot more fun
My vote is for "NPC's 4 hire" that patrol inside and outside of base with small chance of leaving you vulnerable to door camp/deep for balance.
the only way to nerf offline raiding is to nerf online raiding as well. Which is to say, increase the amount of offline raids.

With all this attack minded stuff getting added I think it's time they really expand "defense" like base building and traps, and I think Rust can solve rampant offline raiding/servers dying too quickly in a rust way as well.
Small groups/solos should have more options to store loot around a map. I think prefab bases could be something that could really work. Especially if they are cheap. Stashes have their place but i think there should be a higher tier stash of some sort, maybe one that can be locked even if pulled and still cost an explosive to break.
I think if you allow people to never feel like they are wiped out they will keep coming back.
Equipping the trumpet in the weapon slot is the best part for me 😂😂😋
