Watch Geek Hi again sir, I found what seems the same watch in this video on amazon.uk ( from Britain/England) www.amazon.co.uk/Casio-Digital-Quartz-Watch-GBA-800-1AER/dp/B079VK9SD3 I have a question; Is it the exact same model like the one you reviewed in this video? Thanks so much! 🙂
I must say thank you for what you do. You have THE most informative videos I have ever seen and you obviously know your watches. Your info is clear and easy to understand. I’m a G-Shock fanatic and I’ll be turning to this channel for all my watch needs. Keep doing what you do, you rock!!!
I have GBD 800 and in love with it and because it's not just a G-SHOCK but at the same time a fitness tracker! LOL, I don't think any other brand can do this!!
Most concise and best review I’ve seen for a watch. All the other watch reviews think all you need is stupid annoying music and no audio explanation of how the watch actually functions. I clicked your link and bought one on Amazon. Thanks!
I've been wearing this watch for about a month and I absolutely love it. I particularly like the app where I can set up the watch very easily and the new strap, which is much more comfortable compared to previous models. Great review :)
I bought this on a whim, and one of my better whims. I use it for 10k steps every day the phone apps superb and lets me post my steps to social media with a photo of my choice in the background. Great fun. Easy to read. Stylish.
I have this watch. I like it and wear it on regular basis. Overall, it is great, but it is not perfect. The strap is comfortable, does not epilate my wrist. The watch is durable. The step counter is accurate and usable. The Bluetooth connection is a great plus, which makes the adjustment much easier. The time sync is also great. There are two things, which I dislike: 1. The hands can cover the inverted display. When you want to read the digital time rapidly, the display is often blocked and you cannot get the time easily. 2. The hour/minute markings are dark grey, which is almost black. The hands are highly visible, but their positions are not due to the minimal constrast. +1. For me, it is difficult to adjust the countdown timer without a phone. With a phone, its usage is also not 100% clear. I am used to the solar watches. I expose it to the sun, then I realize that there is no point in doing so. :) I need a solar version. A battery level indicator would be also great. Now, I feel a bit insecure as I do not know when it will turn off suddenly.
Just replace the battery when it dies, then connect the watch to your phone to sync it. That's it. Bought this watch in 2019, and it's battery still going.
I know this is an old review & watch, but i just bought it after wearing my ice watch for last 15 or so years. Great review. So far im loving the watch
Nice one- I all-ready have the GA 800 the“ normal “ one and love the size, analog seconds hand and lighting so this would be a nice addition. Can’t wait for the tutorial! Btw , congrats on featuring on G-Central again! Well deserved!
I have bought two gba800 and two gbd800. Best workout watch you can buy if HIIT or TABATA style is your thing. Also, it’s essentially atomic! Always dead on accurate. The absolute best part. I can actually use the auto light feature without killing the battery in a day like my tough solars. Best g of the year for sure.
You don't need to hold both buttons down at the same time for HS. You hold the light button then press the other one.. A lot easier than you suggest! Great review
I have been in market for a new watch for awhile now and haven't been able to decide what to get. Was considering a Garmin Fenix 3 or 5 but the $, questionable durability, and a few features I'd probably never use kept scaring me away. This looks like my next watch. So glad a stumbled across this video. Keep up the great work. Your review was excellent!
Josh, I have a Garmin Fenix 3 and while it's a good watch it can be a pain pairing at times and I don't like the face particularly as it can be difficult to see the time in certain light conditions without illuminating the dial. I intend to get this next as it has the functionality I want without a load of stuff I don't use, plus I don't have to charge it every week or so.
Thanks very much for making this video and highlighting the various functions and features on this model. I have been looking at it for a while and your video just convinced me that this is my next watch. Thanks very much!
this is the g-shock to have.. congrats on the 10.000 subs.. i remember not that long ago i shared a video of yours on some facebook groups just because i could not believe that such good and detailed content had so few subscribers.. congrats again - you deserve it!
Great video, I think I'm gonna pick this watch up myself. The size comparison was very useful to me because I've got small wrists. (That's why I didn't get the GA-100)
You spoke my heart..........I have got two G Shock..............I really wonder Casio has so many features advanced but when it comes to LED or night illumination they suck.......dont know why they are doing that..........Is it a big deal to have proper illumination when the watch is has so much technology
The timer makes it a perfect darkroom watch for processing the development of your silver based film!!! Very cool and maybe my next watch, because it will be tough enough to use it as a daily in my truck too.. Is there a solar version of this watch? - This would be the perfect grap and forget watch...
Thanks for the video. I can't believe how long it has taken Casio to add activity tracking to the G-Shock line...it's almost like they were waiting to see if the trend stayed alive or not. I've owned a few Fitbits and Garmins, but I always end up coming back to my G-Shocks largely because of the lack of durability of the dedicated fitness tracker brands. (They break, and then I go back to my G-Shocks.) Garmin is definitely doing better than Fitbit in the durability department, but obviously G-Shocks are in a class by themselves, and it makes a lot of sense to have a watch that's meant for an active lifestyle to also be as tough as possible. The fitness tracker brands kind of seem like they intentionally plan for their users to upgrade every 6 months to a year as most of the trackers aren't going to last longer than that...maybe that's actually their business model. Hopefully Casio will continue to expand the fitness-geared G-Shock line.
I think they will expand it. When it comes to regular smart watches and activity monitors, Garmin is No 1. to me too. Make sure to participate in the giveaway, you have only about 6 hours left to get in on it
Yellow box there is covering the watch. is the digital display always so feint? or you can adjust? So my main thing with a watch is what? Digital Time, day of week, then Month# and day#. How do u see month number and day of month #? Rubber straps tend to tear off over time. That is the concern there...the actual strap part. Do the hands of the watch actually cover up the digi display at times? Hmm.
I'm fairly new to your channel but I absolutely love the comprehensive deep dives you do for these reviews. I am looking for a pretty down to basics step tracker. I like this model. I like the LOOK of the GBA900-1A even more - it just seems a tad more refined in its presentation. Are the features fairly similar between these two? Again, thanks for the dedication to your content and to your channel.
I think the 900 has the improved step tracker. It only works when you walk while on this, the step tracker worked even when you moved your hand or were in a vehicle.
great review! i had mixed emotions on which to get my boyfriend for his birthday but after watching this video, i've definitely made my decision. thanx so much!
I have a question, do these watches i mean any model of g-shock ever had some sort of firmware? I'm asking cause i wonder if they've ever had updated a watches feature through firmwares?
I have a Bluetooth one that tells me it needs a battery. It's been 2 years since that notification appeared lol. I bought the watch in 2014 and it's 2019...
About the GBA-900, I bought one in June 2022 and I discovered that it is bugged to sum the distance in SPLIT Mode. I had contacted CASIO that try to tell me that it's because of my SmartPhone. Finally they have recognized the bug, but are not able to provide a schedule and how to fix it. So it's my first and last CASIO G-SHOCK. I loved their calculators. But now I'm really disappointed.
The plastic buckle is a bit much, considering the price. Every bloody Casio I have owned, the strap has broken long before the battery runs out, so maybe they should have a strap life time rather than a battery life time.
I am actually a little shattered i just bought the GA100 1A1 now... This watch is exactly what im looking for! I love the luminiscent digi background and bluetooth connectivity with step count! It'll definitely be next on my wish list :) thanks for another detailed video 👌🏼🤙🏼
My GA-100 1A1 arrived today... lets just say i'm not disappointed! :) and thanks to your detailed video I watched several time I knew exactly how to set it up and operate all the modes/functions. Thanks Again!!
bought GBD 800 recently.. and love it so much, since i choose the yellow colorway, it really stand out and very comfortable to wear tho. hi WG please make a detail review on GBD 800 as well, very much appreciated. lol
Not accurate at all. I'm a greens-keeper and mow greens in the morning. It won't count my steps since I don't rock my arms back and forth. When I play golf I walk and have my watch in my golf bag. It doesn't keep accurate count of those steps either.
I initially wanted the 35th anniversary version but hated the fact it has a quartz ticking second hand. I could care less about the connectivity but this version offers a great reduced size, versatile and stealthy looks. I ordered mine and Dare I say, looks inspired by the Hublot Big band king power? Amazing value and videos! @watchgeek
Yes, it is part of the structure as all gshocks have a "floating" module, that is why they can take such a beating as nothin is connected directly thus dispersing energy from an impact
Good review of the watch. Just wanted to chime on the plastic clip. I work in the security field my Mudmaster has a metal clasp that goes off when walking through metal detectors set on high (doesn't sound on medium or low). So the plastic clip may allow me to pass through without sounding.
Hi there, I like your videos a lot, that's great work. I found a way to see your digital screen with the led light. Just pose your finger above the screen and the light will reflect from your finger to the screen below. This little live hack makes all my analog-digital G shocks a lot more useful in dark conditions. But it is still nicer to have the digital screens lighten up. I got the black GBA 800 as well and i really like it.
Hi, I’ve been in search of a G Shock for my new Marine son. And I found your videos to be the best ,most informative . Would this 800 be a good choice? I like it for its size on a smaller wrist. Or would you recommend another?
Great review. I tried this on in the store and the buckle was protruding into my wrist. Tried the grey one next, and it was fine. Someone else mentioned in a review that the buckle was uncomfortable. Makes me hesitant to order one without trying it first.
Can you please reccoment casio watch with step counter and long battery life? For older person, so it ok if it has big numbers and not so sci fi looks. Thanx
Hey. Just subscribed. Amazing video! I have a question. Got this watch yesterday. Now if we keep the watch without movement for some time( in the case for example) the Steptracker automatically turns off. I travel really frequent and I would be wearing this everywhere I go. I almost never take my watch off the entire day. Do you think the Steptracker being active constantly would affect the battery life? Would it be better if I open and keep it aside for the time I'm inactive?
That yellow lime one is so cool, I'm still thinking of getting it for myself, I didn't want to get that one for the giveaway as not everyone likes such a "loud" watch, but I love the look!!
!!! Thank you, I really enjoy your channel and content! Have you compared with the GBD800/ GBD800UC ? I agree the contrasting hands look great but I like the increased digital display I don’t love the reverse lcd but hopefully could get used to it or wait for a plain LCD. Have you looked at the gma-s130vc 8a? Might be a little smaller than the GMA800 and I love the colour. Casio just make me a Digital plain lcd in grey thanks :) And now I’m looking at the gshock squares too but really want the step counter feature of the g squad.
Hi, thanks a lot for the video. Nice review. Does it always need to be connected to phone for step tracker to work ? Or it will track anyways and I can synch it later at the end of the day ?
It counts steps all the time, so it doesn't have to be connected. If you want map data however you have to have the phone with you as it uses the phones GPS and map data to track you
Excellent review! Very helpful to me personally. I purchased this same watch but in the dark charcoal gray body. Really just a stealth and the dial is the same other than the red lettering where is says step tracker. The analog on this watch is so easy to read in all conditions even low light. That with the back lighting dedicated to the digital and a separate one dedicated to the analog make it really special. I use the step tracking while I am at work and find that it is accurate and very close but just a little behind in steps vs my Samsung phone which is probably more realistic. I really do not use the bluetooth feature or phone app much. Other than syncing time with phone. Even without Bluetooth feature I agree it is a superb G-Shock.

add solar and neon illumination and you have the perfect watch
What is illumination
@@AkashVerma-hh9th its the lume int the hands an dial
it glows in the dark
I got mine from Subaraki Mods (Index Glow Mod Ring)....... 20 seconds of light and the entire hands and markers glow 12 hours.......
I brought this watch just for the excellent perfect size. Not stupidly big nor childish small. Just perfect.
From where u bought it
Azharr Meer You can get one at Macy’s, zumies or Tillys.
@Julio Mendoza I got mine from Macy’s
Looks big to me. Just saying.

bought my first gshock because of this video. really appreciated it.
Agreed with the Needles contrast easy to read unlike the GA110

Excellent review and still relevant in 2021 ! Your observations about the Smart watches are spot on !
Such a nice watch, just screams masculinity. That keeper notch is brilliant, wish more watches came with that as standard!

Totally agree. I can’t believe how limited the stepper range of watches is. Very poor show by what should be the market leader.
a G-Shock it would be perfect with a constant heart rate monitor and no other function for nerds
But we, the nerds, love the nerdy functions
The closest to smartwatch but better in many practical ways I've ever seen, and the price seems possible for what the watch is.
After YEARS of getting it SO wrong, Casio have FINALLY got the backlight right. Better late than never, i guess.
It's soooo much more readable than any other G-Shock, specially the digital ones.
Yes, it is amazing when it comes to basic time telling

Just bought it today 12/07/21.
Love the design. Still learning to use it.
Linking it to my IPhone.
Why does your digital say 5:11 and your analog at 8:50 pm?
About the GBA-900, I bought one in June 2022 and I discovered that it is bugged to sum the distance in SPLIT Mode.
I had contacted CASIO that try to tell me that it's because of my SmartPhone.

what doees the small top right dial actually do? does it have any specific functions or jusst there for second counter or something else??
It's just Casio style, no particular useful graphic.
I've owned this watch for over a year and it's simple yet complex. I still haven't figured out how to set the right time...

Is it possible to replace the wrist and to something softer?

4:53 what do you mean by time checking when connect 4 times a day?
It means the watch readjusts the correct time 4 times a day by automatically connecting to your phone, getting the time data and disconnecting
Does the light button of this piece move a bit? Just got this watch and the button seems a bit loose to my liking 🙃
Yes, it is part of the structure as all gshocks have a "floating" module, that is why they can take such a beating as nothin is connected directly thus dispersing energy from an impact

Do you think the Steptracker being active constantly would affect the battery life? Would it be better if I open and keep it aside for the time I'm inactive?
I love this one too. I wish I could afford it now. I’m waiting for the Lord to help me. I love your videos too.
Hope u made it by now !
Maybe somebody will be read this and buy you one
Awesome watch .Got myself the yellow one. Can't wait for the full tutorial.
That yellow lime one is so cool, I'm still thinking of getting it for myself, I didn't want to get that one for the giveaway as not everyone likes such a "loud" watch, but I love the look!!
Great review! Great looking piece. I would love to see an all digital version and who doesn't love Solar Power. I know...baby steps.
I had it for several weeks now and I love it. Thanks for the video.
Very well explained. Thanks mate
Love the watch! Great review!
Thanks 😊
Can you share the link of the casio application on google play?
Hi, thanks a lot for the video. Nice review. Does it always need to be connected to phone for step tracker to work ? Or it will track anyways and I can synch it later at the end of the day ?
It counts steps all the time, so it doesn't have to be connected. If you want map data however you have to have the phone with you as it uses the phones GPS and map data to track you
@@WatchGeek wow! Thanks for quick reply :) I am going to buy this one. Time to move on from my 4 year old GA-100CF.
Thank you for your reviews Watch Geek. Whit this review you convince me to buy this watch and I am very happy whit it. Best wishes!!
Thanks for watching and make sure to check out the tutorial videos
Watch Geek of course watch them all already my friend 🤓
👍👍
How is the readability of the screen? As much as I like G Shocks, the small digits and readability issues make me want to buy a Protrek.
Small screen combined with negative variant is really not the recipe for legibility 😁
@@WatchGeek even the auto EL doesnt always do the job.
You either don't move your hand as much, or in my case my G9300 GB has terrible illumination
Bluetooth can be switched off?
How can you make your phone ring with the watch?
Hey great video mate but I wanna ask you if there's a chance about digital and analog on that watch can be the same time??
Yes in the home time screen
Thanks for the info and a great video too! These BT Casio watches have been catching my eye lately very cool indeed!
What are other Casio watches that have interval timer?
They should make it solar, but I just bought one off my buddy for $30.00. I definitely got a deal!
Anyone know what is the difference between this black GBA 800 and the desert tan GBA 800UC models? Seems to me they have the same specs
