  • Without a doubt, the most skeptical of the bunch when it comes to the Stark Varg is our buddy Scrub Daddy, but last week we turned him loose on ours and asked him to spend the day testing it out. Did he hate it? Could he even ride without his beloved clutch lever? Did he loop it out? You'll have to press play and find out! Thanks to TIS Wheels for the opportunity to create fun content like this!

I've had my varg for a few weeks now and my greatest fear about it has been realised. I simply don't want to ride my other bikes anymore.
When I ride the bike, I can instantly and without any effort , ride on the balls of my feet, heels dropped, knees directly above the pegs, toes tucked in, hips unlocked, straight back..the whole modern style that they all teach now.
The reason for this is I no longer have to use my feet for anything! And the modern style is all about foot position...The hand rear brake on the bars is key for me!
I now now longer drag the rear brake coming into corners or through corners..my brake dragging days are over.
I now ride with very loose arms and grip so much better with my knees.
I can ride the bike a lot faster than any of my other bikes and for more than double the time before getting tired
I feel so much safer on it, massively more in control , mostly from the much better body position but also because of how easy it is to either raise or drop the front end in the air.
The bike is way more fun to ride thsn any other bike I have ever owned.
The benefits from riding with this modern style have really blown me away, I could never do this on my gas bikes..my feet are so clumsy, my ankles are trash..one of them partly fused and my right foot points outwards about 30 deg from where it should when the plated my broken leg back together crooked 36 years ago..
Now when I ride my gas bikes, I try to get on my toes in the same way..but when I have to move my feet forward to shift or brake I make an absolute mess of it.
On the Varg I am standing way way way more than I do on my other bikes.
At 58 years old, I litterally feel 18 again on this bike. My friends say that they can easily see how much better I ride on it.
I litterally cannot think of a single rational reason for even keeping my other main bikes..I just dont want to ride them anymore.
The Varg is so much easier to look after..even when it comes to just washing it!
Range is no issue for me. I can get an hour and a half ride time at 40hp on my natural terrain hard pack track at home or two 20 min sessions at 55 hp, on the deep ripped heavy loam mx track I ride at every weekend. I went to another commercial track that is half soft dirt, half hard pack and rode 2 x 20 min session on it and went home with 43% charge left...that is a very jump laden track..big floaty jumps all around the track. Your range can vary hugely due to multiple factors
Range is not an issue for me, I only ride motocross.
I have a cheap little 2.2 kv inverter generator that Ive had for years and it charges the varg ok at 4 amps but cant do more...I would need a 5kv generator to run it at 8 to 10 amps, but my little generator is adequate to keep it topped up between rides if I want to ride the varg all day, normally I take a gas bike and ride my first 2 sessions on that , then 2 sessions on the varg with no need to charge it between sessions.
Next weekend I will be racing it for the first time at a regional mx series here in Australia. I ride mx 1 c class, not really into vet classes.. it will be 3 x 15 plus 1 motos. Probably won't need to do any charging between motos, but will take the generator just in case
To the haters, especially the idiots that believe that they need to have the noise..I dare you to ride one of these bikes...just do it..put up, or shut up!

I'm going to buy one, and I won't miss changing my air filter, at all. The other brands must be panicked. After people admit that it's not about being green it's just better it's going to be a bloodbath for the other brands. I'll be going from a YZ250 two stroke to a Stark, but I'm never selling the YZ.

I felt the same way before getting my first electric bike which was the KTM Freeride. It opened up days where I could practice single track that I couldn't before due to noise complaints. I then got the Alta Red Shift and what a game changer at the time. So much fun. They never replaced my gassers but I could ride early mornings and late evenings. Which I don't suggest doing unless you are packing heat. Almost ran into a brown bear one evening luckily I saw it way ahead of time. If you ride in the woods at night make sure to bring a sidearm.

What the heck is that prep that leaves the lines/ridges along the sides of the track?

So when you bind up a chassis with wheel spin or getting out of control, pulling in the clutch can and will save you. With this thing your just along for the ride

Great point with braking bumps and no clutch to free up the engine.!

    • @philiprourke7732
      @philiprourke7732 4 месяца назад

Actually no it isn't a great point at all..the remark comes from an obvious lack of knowledge about the adjustable regen braking.which is effectively engine braking on a gas bike...which is adjustable from 0% to 100% in the phone app...he never mentioned this as he probably didn't even know about it. I run mine at 60% which feels the same to me as any of my 2 strokes..if you run it up around 80% it feels more like a 4 stroke. If you want it to fully free wheel through braking bumps, run the regen a lot lower. 60% is the perfect number for me
