As a girl myself, I definitely appreciate how respectful you are about keeping personal things with people you date off the vlog. It's a good call. You'll find the right one for you. She's out there, probably feeling a lot like you are now.
Thanks for being a human blogger and sharing your life behind the scenes. I see some other video bloggers with the same frozen smiles and it doesn't seem realistic. Nobody can be "on" all the time.
Come on Jay, cheer up! You're smart, incredibly talented and live in, probably, the best city in the world for creative people like you. It's a perfect match! Someday, all the loose ends will make knots! Cheers! 🍷
I love the mustache, don't mind the beard when you want one :) Enjoyed this video, especially seeing the French barber! I've been married 42+yrs to my dh, and as much as I love "it"- life can be hard as you know, in or out of a relationship. Don't live by anyone else's expectations, and feel free to be yourself in all of life, unabashedly. I believe you have a lot of people here and in your life that wish you well in all things, accept you happily as you are en total. The struggle IS REAL, even for ones who "seem" to have it all. Bottom line, you have my prayers! And I send them also to your family and grandmother :) One of your best videos Jay, thank you.
Hi Jay from a bald old guy here in Washington State--the haircut and shave (which I've never had professionally done) look great on you. The hot towel on the bald pate feels wonderful and it never lasts long enough. Wear your new look with pride. I liked seeing the Parisian barbershop experience. Thanks for sharing.
Jay, what a great video!!!!!! I love the balance you put on what you do, keeping you personal private must be super difficult but you do it well. Thanks for being a gentleman!!!!
Hi Jay been watching you since planning a trip to Paris with my daughter and haven’t stopped watching since. You bring a lot of joy to people! Please realize all the good you do by sharing your life and experiences with others, we all appreciate you!
I understand the feeling of "this ___ was meant to be with them". It's something that's taken me a long time to be able to get past. There's no advice I can offer, you just have to let your feelings happen and then keep going
Thank you for your balance of respect of self, others and transparency. Thank you for your creative gifts, poet's soul, and integrity. Thank you for sporting -if briefly- a killer villain stache. Thank you for you.
In the middle of the chaos is a quiet place. I often say I feel solace in the pressure of the quicksand. It causes you to be still and utterly aware. Take your time, reflect and refocus, there's no hurry.
Just watched your video. First, thank you for sharing. I hope you find healing as you move forward on a different path. Kudos to you and your maturity, respect, and kindness to yourself and to others in your world. Kudos to therapy. Kudos to looking at the positive and remembering that those moments counted and meant a lot. Many blessings to you! 🙌🏽
Hi Jay, it's sad to know that your relationship didn't work out. Things happen for a reason. I'm sure you'll meet someone special again! Change is good and life goes on. Count your blessings!
Hi Jay, the last period wasn't great for you. But there will come a time when everything will fall into place. It can only get better. Have a good time with your family and enjoy your time in the States.
I half-expected the barber to wap wap wap wap your shiny head with his towel, kind of like a newly waxed car. Also, this video is not sad, it’s real life! Changes and evolving can’t help but bring their share of grief and sadness. Glad you found some support with therapy, too. Have fun in my hometown of San Diego! Git you some nachos boy. You’ll feel right as rain. 🌴☀️🌊
Jay. Breakups are horrible. I’ve been through a 28 yr marriage, death of my girl friend, and break up with a woman I took to Paris twice even to my nephews wedding. It gets better. You are much younger than I. Therapy is a big help so stick with it. I call it a special gift I give to myself.
sorry about the break up, i see ache on your expression when you talked about her. I hope with time you will feel better. Thanks for showing me the parts of Paris I never knew.
Thank you for sharing the more personal side in this vlog. I'm here for the views of Paris, the business of creative life, and the character of the artists (and Gustave). I appreciate how you place a value on self-care, and honesty, as we could all use a reminder! 🤗🇨🇦
Damn man, you’ve got a lot going on...heavy stuff. I’m sad to hear about the things that didn’t work out. It’s a new year, and I hope it’s good to us both. I could use a positive upswing myself. Thank you for sharing with us. Sending you good vibes. ✨ Have fun at the wedding and I hope spending time with your family will be awesome. Love the stache, miss the beard, take care of yourself Sidenote, woot!! To seeing a therapist!! It’s one one my health goals this year. 👍🏾
I just watched another video of a travel blogger like yourself, an American but based in London who went through a divorce. Relationship break ups suck but look at these situations in a positive way. Hopefully you meet someone great! Always love your videos!
Really enjoyed this video, and thank you for sharing what's going on. I feel ya with the career/friends/family situation changes. It can be heavy. But although I am normally #teambeard the mustache is awesome and made me smile. 😀 Can't wait to see the wedding video!
Jay, I see you're once again following my sister's advice: Shave your head, change your luck! You're on the right track. Have a safe trip to the Evergreen State! Time with family has a way of putting one back on the straight and narrow. Thanks for another beautiful and honest video. I'm rooting for you!
I just love all your vlogs Jay, hoping your trip back to family gives you a boost. I think you look great with moustache, beard and clean shaven, you should go with the look that makes YOU feel good. Nice having the ‘talk in the car’ vlog for a change, as the saying goes ‘variety is the spice of life’ so keep doing what you are doing x
Sending you hugs Jay! I went through a similar breakup experience this summer but having a change of scenery + being around friends and family will help! Also focusing on those things that you enjoy doing, old hobbies/interests you’ve put on pause etc. It’s taken me a few months to feel like myself again but I’m just giving myself time and space to do the things that make me happy 😊 therapy is life changing! My life did a whole 180 in all areas (personal, career, relationships) when I started going. Anyway, sending good vibes!
Villainous almost biting fingers of the barber, so funny! An A+ for creating wrapping 101. Thanks for sharing the personal stuff, it certainly bridges some gaps. Self care good. #keepmovingforward. Cheers! 😎 I miss the dailies. Wishing you the best.
Good vlog today. Thanks for sharing. FYI, it's suppose to be rain/snow mix here on the east side of the Cascades this weekend. Loved that you're using the Osmo Pocket (Freewell's got an excellent wide angle lens for it where the edges are clear and not bent). I've got one and enjoy it. Hoping you don't drown in your grief and come through it well. There is an impermanence to all things. Be well! PS: Glad you made it to Provins. I've been there a couple of times and it's a terrific day trip despite that weird track change at the end of the regular line.
Been there recently myself. Break ups are hard. When my partner of 3 years left to return to France in early fall, I felt horrible for three months. I still can be triggered to tears by the most random reminders. Therapy definitely has helped. Be well.
The mustache is really cool. And you are equally handsome without it. Feel free to change it up at will;-) Thanks for the update.Obviously your life is big than your videos--even when it was daily. I appreciate your willingness to share and respect your desire to protect others in your life when that is appropriate. You are always thoughtful and you always try to be aware of your impact. I value your humanity as much as anything-everything -else that comes from your vlogs.
Wonderful little episode, Jay. Thanks for sharing. Think you found the way to speak about your personal life in this video. Not too much, but enough to say we know you better now. Keep up the excellent work.
Glad that you are getting to see your family soon. i'm glad that you chose to see a professional. It's great to get a perspective from someone that is not invested in your daily life. Can give you some good clarity. There will be many loves & losses in your life but each brings lessons for us & prepares us for new relationships. Have a great trip!!!!
I would love to come back for a 3rd time. So many other places to explore though. My ex is in Paris so it would be hard to go back. So many memories. Even watching you vlog is sometimes hard. *sigh* Cheers to you, Jay. Still appreciate your content and will stay subbed no matter what 😊
I’m #teammustache for sure! I dig the “villain” look. Sending good thoughts to you as you process all these many transitions. I’m glad to hear your Mom and Dad are doing ok - that’s what I thought this video might be about initially. Have fun at the wedding! I am heading out of state for a family wedding this weekend as well - but I’m photographing it. :)
I'm reeeeeally tempted to replace my broken drone this week just so I can fly it at the wedding...... sooooooooooo tempting! And thanks Michelle - I appreciate it (and will put your vote in for #teammustache 😉)
Glad you are going to see your family. Tell Grandma Jane hi. Love to you and family. Glad you are talking things out w therapist. You are healing. I am with you . Hugs
Clean shaven with the mustache suits you. With a little wax for special occasions. Breakups are horrible. I'm so glad you got professional counseling. It cuts through the crap and gives you tools to carry on. This wedding couldn't come at a better time. You can reconnect with your family, make use of that champagne sword and just get a change of scenery to refresh your perspective. Appreciate your honesty. For anyone looking to create an unconventional life it's wonderful to see the successes, the failures, the random events and always your love of the beautiful city of Paris and the people you encounter. I know it's difficult at times, but so many of us don't have your courage and energy, and live vicariously through you. Stay bold. Don't lose your sense of adventure. When opportunity knocks jump right in fearlessly. We are about to experience a whole new economic world. People like you may be the smartest ones. Write.
If it helps Jay - you ask who you are? - you're someone who brings a lot of pleasure to people with the videos you make, showing them cool places with a great guide. Tnx!
Jay, so sorry to hear about your relationship. Glad you are getting to spend some time back "home" though it may not be as planned. Enjoy your time. Sounds like it is coming at a good time for you. As for the moustache. It is growing on me, BUT I really like the beard much better. ;) Safe travels.
Jay, your new look reminds me of a Victorian-era explorer. All that's missing is a hot air balloon and gold pocket watch, and maybe Jules Verne for company.
The mustache looks very French. So sorry about the breakup. I am sure it is very painful for you to talk about. You are a great guy and there is some wonderful girl out there who will find you when you least expect it. Glad you are going to get to spend time with your family. Have fun at the wedding.
Good for you, probably a very hard step to make visiting a therapist. You can be proud of yourself what you achieved, are achieving and will achieve. Just keep it under control. 👍👍👍
Keep the mustache, it works with the twist. Knew there had to be someone, now it explains the jump into exercising. Hang in there, it gets better. Too many beautiful ladies in Paris
Hi Jay! So glad I came across your channel recently. Love your creativity and honesty (and stache :-)). I lived in Paris for 5 years (2000-2005) so it’s been fun to see what has changed as well as learn about your own more modern experience (which often resonates). The idea of changing identity I can relate to. You mentioned in another video that there are periodic meetups...I’m visiting 2nd week of March with my daughter...thought it would be fun to chat with expats as a former one. How would one find out if there are any? Have fun at the wedding!
Glad to know you’re okay. There is nothing wrong with keeping your personal life personal. Relationships can be difficult enough without putting them on public display. Have a great trip and a wonderful time with your family. Looking forward to seeing your next vlog.
7:33 Jay, the camera (osmo?) does a really neat, slow pan that I don't think you were controlling with your muscles .. the cam just does it. Very nice effect. 8:35 Anyhoo sign .. where is this place /Picard guess: 'the garage' (looks studio-ish considering the Anyhoo sign placement) 20:32 context-interrupting shot: urban scenery (nice technique there)
Liking the new look. Good to hear you're going to therapy, it's very helpful to learn new useful tools and perspectives to handle life's challenges. There is a more noticeable increasingly mature and centered change to you and that must be one of the reasons why.
Just my thoughts but you can’t hide something like a GF or Wife without the emotions feeding over into other aspects of your life. Vlogging is such an important aspect of your life and it affords you the freedom to express your creativity in so many different/amazing ways and anyone you’re dating has to be ok with that. I get the privacy part as I’m a somewhat private person but to bottle up those emotions (both good and bad) is not healthy for anybody and can spiral anyone into a roller coaster of emotions (think 500 Days of Summer). At the end of the day it’s your decision but in my experience trying to hide a GF from my friends and/or family has never ever worked for me.
well.. change is weird sometimes a new door to open! You live in Paris! You have more friends than i do!! You are a cool guy!! When me and my husband are in Paris we will look for you! Put yourself out there just like you are! Ask the universe for what you want!! Its all there! you are a bright light:)
Look forward to seeing Grandma (she's a hoot) and the rest of your family. Have a wonderful time and remember, time heals all wounds. Really. Yeah.... I'm a total cliché ;-) But it's true.
It’s called life Jay....you never know what’s around the corner and life is too bloody short to waste on lost loves and different shifts in your life....a year ago I had the world at my feet.... this year I battle along...but you blink and you are 65 ... as I am... don’t waste time on reflection... put your best foot forward and keep walking.... also the best therapist in the world is not the answer to the question or doubt...
Transitions are so so difficult :( it’s a bit nihilistic, but what helps me is thinking about how nothing is forever. This funk? Not for forever. When things are good, it’s not for forever either, but more initiative to live presently and enjoy what we have in the moment! Also, winter. Winter is another confounding factor. Enjoy the California sun, and I think spring is coming earlier to Paris (could be speaking too soon here), so maybe we’ll get more sun in Paris once you’re back too.
Chin up ol' boy! You look mighty fine with that tweaked moustache - All I want to say to you is better break up with no strings attached like kids, that go through a much more harrowing experience later. Says me who has been married 50 years this coming December…..Have a wonderful time with your family!Oh, and happy Valentines day for today!
I'm sorry about the end of your relationship, Jay. It sounds like you're in a good place and moving forward through it. Sending you hugs and positive vibes. I'll second therapy - - it was great for me when I went through a marital break-up. BTW, love the 'stache and I'm a big fan of the beard/scruff! Safe travels and have a WONDERFUL time with your family!
Well my thoughts Jay..... you be bald as a badger after that wonderful experience and as always busy as a beaver taking care of business. You amuse me no end and I take delight in your photography skills.... bonne chance with every little thing in 2020 👍
1. You look like Tom Hardy mixed with a Peaky Blinders character with the shave 2. Don't use gel to maintain the moustache, look for a stiff pomade. 3. Sorry to hear about the breakup, but I hope you don't feel like you need to share your private info.
Ah, I had a feeling something was going on but couldn't put a finger on it. I wish there was a way to make it better but really, it is a question of time. I'm not one of those people who always say 'you'll find someone in the end' because that doesn't always happen, especially these days. Sorry! On the upside, I'm glad your mum is stable, I have wondered occasionally tho' I don't expect you to mention it. Hope you enjoy the wedding and, for the record, I'm #teambeard
As a girl myself, I definitely appreciate how respectful you are about keeping personal things with people you date off the vlog. It's a good call. You'll find the right one for you. She's out there, probably feeling a lot like you are now.

Jay, what a great video!!!!!!
I love the balance you put on what you do, keeping you personal private must be super difficult but you do it well. Thanks for being a gentleman!!!!

Sorry about your breakup, Jay! Hope you still enjoy your trip back home :)
Winters come, Spring follows, and life renews itself. Each blade of grass and colorful flower that come with spring reflect how beautiful life can be.
So nice of your friend to leave his coffee place to join and wait, thought he was getting something done too
In the middle of the chaos is a quiet place. I often say I feel solace in the pressure of the quicksand. It causes you to be still and utterly aware. Take your time, reflect and refocus, there's no hurry.

These are the times of personal growth ❤ hugs for you!
Take care, Jay. I appreciate your openness and your creativity.
Thanks, you too!
You look good dude. Sorry you've been going through stuff. Hopefully the change of scenery will be a mood booster for you.
Jay, Your honesty with yourself and us out here is wonderful. Yay for therapy! Happy for you. Rock on!
Thanks 😊
Thank you for sharing the more personal side in this vlog. I'm here for the views of Paris, the business of creative life, and the character of the artists (and Gustave). I appreciate how you place a value on self-care, and honesty, as we could all use a reminder! 🤗🇨🇦
This was such a beautiful, honest video. Glad you are putting some of the daily vlog energy into your wellness, Jay! P.S. Love the intro!

Sidenote, woot!!
Love the mustache!!!
And appreciate all you share, personally and of Paris.

That's a resounding recommendation if I've ever heard one! Glad things have gone so much better for you 😊🍻
Take the time you need to find that special friend. Keep the Faith, and just be yourself.
Pendant ces périodes douloureuses il faut se souvenir des choses qui ont le pouvoir t'inspirer le plus. Tu nous inspires aussi. Solidarité avec toi.
Much love to you and your family Jay
Part of life🙏hard at times! That's tough but it's when we grow the most. Have a great trip and time with your family!!!
Puddle pictures have always been a favorite of mine! Good job once again on your video....you have been an inspiration in my creativity 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks! I love those photos too
I'm watching your blog and listening. Thanks for the therapist shout out! And I envy the moustache.
I'm in your state!🕺🥂🕺
You are wise and sincere thank you for including us in your life God bless🌹🌷🐱😊🌈🌉🌃🌌
Love mustache! It’s been a last few months for several people I know. Including myself. Praying for you and your lovely family. Big hug 🤗
Been there recently myself. Break ups are hard. When my partner of 3 years left to return to France in early fall, I felt horrible for three months. I still can be triggered to tears by the most random reminders. Therapy definitely has helped. Be well.
That was a good share even though it might have been difficult. Keep trucking and what makes you happy. Best- TGT
The mustache is really cool. And you are equally handsome without it. Feel free to change it up at will;-) Thanks for the update.Obviously your life is big than your videos--even when it was daily. Good to hear from you again! Yesterday in the evening I randomly wondered what has become of Jay.. I still like your style! Take care :)
Joann loves the hotel Deville, I also think it’s a fine Building. Thank you for that great time lapse
Excellent stash. I wore a handle bar stash back in my college days. A good stash wax is essential.
Love the new look Jay! 😀 👨🏻🦰👍🏻
Safe travels ✈️
Greetings from Australia ☀️☀️
Wonderful little episode, Jay. Thanks for sharing. Think you found the way to speak about your personal life in this video. Not too much, but enough to say we know you better now. Keep up the excellent work.

I'm reeeeeally tempted to replace my broken drone this week just so I can fly it at the wedding...... sooooooooooo tempting!
And thanks Michelle - I appreciate it (and will put your vote in for #teammustache 😉)
Oooh, do it!! Drone shots are the best. My wedding is in Washington DC, so no drone shots allowed in that airspace, I’m quite sure.
Glad you are going to see your family. Tell Grandma Jane hi. Love to you and family. Glad you are talking things out w therapist. You are healing. I am with you . Hugs

Let the sadness and vulnerability out, my brother!
Being so smooth highlights the moustache very nice, enjoy being home make the most of it
Jay, so sorry to hear about your relationship. Glad you are getting to spend some time back "home" though it may not be as planned. Enjoy your time. Sounds like it is coming at a good time for you. As for the moustache. It is growing on me, BUT I really like the beard much better. ;) Safe travels.

I wonder what and who is waiting for you? ...I’m excited about your future ! Safe trip and enjoy the love of your family 🥰
I love it Jay,. I dig the mustache!
Good for you, probably a very hard step to make visiting a therapist. You can be proud of yourself what you achieved, are achieving and will achieve. Just keep it under control. 👍👍👍
Thanks =)
......a therapist who understands and can deal with the pitfalls of being a RUclipsr.
That near miss with the barbers fingers 😂😂😂😂😂 Hilarious
So sorry for your breakup! Sending you hugs from Texas! Ps-#TeamBeard ☺️
Keep the mustache, it works with the twist. Knew there had to be someone, now it explains the jump into exercising. Hang in there, it gets better. Too many beautiful ladies in Paris
I'm just a stranger on the internet but I hope things get better for you emotionally. Hang in there! I'm rooting for you. Also, I hate the mustache.
Thank you for sharing. Sending you positive thoughts..

8:35 Anyhoo sign .. where is this place /Picard guess: 'the garage' (looks studio-ish considering the Anyhoo sign placement)
20:32 context-interrupting shot: urban scenery (nice technique there)
Liking the new look.
Dude, you could make a great caricature with your new look. Love the mustache!
well.. change is weird sometimes a new door to open!
Even though the relationship didn't end the way you wanted, I'm just glad that you had one. Mystery solved!
Yes, made it to the end, although not a chore at all. Not usually a fan of mos (moustache in Auslingo) but yours looks suave. 😁
Most importantly, the mustache is great. Glad you have the time to grieve and breathe now! :)
Thanks on both counts =)

Much Love from Copenhagen ❤️🥰🥰🥰👍
🥂
As a new sub I say her loss! The moustache is very Inspector Jacques Clouseau..... Love from Saint Martin half French half Dutch island.....xo
You look really cool with a waxed mustache you should always do that. Just this man’s humble opinion.
Well my thoughts Jay..... you be bald as a badger after that wonderful experience and as always busy as a beaver taking care of business. You amuse me no end and I take delight in your photography skills.... bonne chance with every little thing in 2020 👍
Heartfelt....
Looking good!
1. You look like Tom Hardy mixed with a Peaky Blinders character with the shave
2. Don't use gel to maintain the moustache, look for a stiff pomade.
3. Sorry to hear about the breakup, but I hope you don't feel like you need to share your private info.
good luck jay
Ah, I had a feeling something was going on but couldn't put a finger on it. I wish there was a way to make it better but really, it is a question of time. I'm not one of those people who always say 'you'll find someone in the end' because that doesn't always happen, especially these days. Sorry! On the upside, I'm glad your mum is stable, I have wondered occasionally tho' I don't expect you to mention it. Hope you enjoy the wedding and, for the record, I'm #teambeard
I love love love the mustache
Do you want to do the champagne fiasco thing again? I'm wondering why once wasn't enough. It should spice up the wedding.
Nothing like a great haircut snd barbershop shave. Add a manicure and your all set.
