Hey guys and welcome to todays video which is all about European Sunscreens and the products which offer the highest level of protection.. I would love to know your thoughts on any of these products so please leave me a comment below and sending you lots and lots of love xxxxxx
Thank you so much for this deep dive! I didn't even realize that Elta MD was a European brand. Hope you and fellow viewers have a wonderful day! I have Riemann P20 SPF50 kids sunscreen right now, which I understood to have a high UVA protection.
I absolutely love Altruist and it works perfectly for me on my fair skin. Started by a UK skin cancer expert dermotolagist who definitely knows what he is talking about, hence the high uva protection. I have and have used their spf 30, spf 50 and their more recent Face fluid and have stock and spares of all. I have never tried the spray as I wouldn't feel confident in ensuring proper skin coverage.
@Jayne Just I have really fair skin and I love the Altruist face fluid so much I have it on subscribe and save repeat order via Amazon. I wear make up most days and my foundation etc wears nicely over the top. I have dry skin so I always wear a moisturiser underneath my spf and my make up still looks nice. The spf definitely does have a dewy finish so as long as you like that finish with your make up then you should get along fine with it. Its so cheap it's worth a try 🙂
Wow only just found your channel today and this is exactly what I was interested in. So many youtubers only talk about American drugstore brands and being in Europe its really baffling
Hi Rob I'm surprised Ultrasun didn't make the list - they're really good protection and my mid Summer staple. The Altruist face fluid gave me a flare of rosacea, but I can use their spf's on the body with no issues. Avene also has some really good spf's - i'm currently using their children's spf50 on the body and no irritation on my eczema from it. The Garnier spf 50 face mist is great for top ups over makeup and is very similar to the LRP product - just cheaper lol. In fact I mainly use European spf's on the body and have for many years. I do try mineral spf's from other brands for the face during the Winter months, as my skin is so dry/sensitive and my rosacea flares very easily due to the increased dryness . In the Summer it's a bit less dry and will tolerate less hydrating formulations like the Ultrasun. My own personal stance is that with my ultra sensitive finnicky skin I can't let what China does determine my buying decisions. All European spf's are not tested on animals in Europe, apart from the China issue as stated. I haven't gone back to Asian spf's after the fiasco last year and tbh have no need to do so, when I have found formulations that work for me from Europe. I can pop into a local store to replenish - rather than waiting on online orders from far away. I noticed you said before skinnies is available from Next and may try that one next for my dry skin - since you rave about it so much lol. Best wishes. ps the tesco own brand baby spf50 is also fine for my eczema prone body skin and is very affordable and accessible here too.
@@olyanakaznyuk1892 Hi I use the spf50+. The face formulas contain ectoin (a powerful humectant) and/or a licorice extract for pigmentation, but they're otherwise the same formula. I've tried the face 50+, the anti pigmentation 50+ and the ivory tinted 50+ for the face. I've also tried the mineral version 50+, but it's a bit chalky/white casty. I've used the normal 50+ extreme formula for years and use that on the face. I use serums etc for anti aging and just buy the regular extreme 50+ for use on face and body tbh - it's a lot cheaper without the additions and works just the same. I also like the anti pigmentation spf30 hand cream as it's a much more moisturising formula for the hands. I hope that helps.
@@lorainemcgillivray77 oh wow I didn't expect to get so much information from your reply! Thank you so much, very informative!))) I like anti age spf 30 because of its texture, but i haven't t tried the other ones. I'm gonna try spf50 extreme if u say it's similar. And may be sport gel 50 for bodie, I've heard its amazing even for kids
I started a new sunscreen a few weeks ago, Skinvisibles AquaSense SPF 50, UVB-, UVA II, UVA-I, and blue light, ultralight, riff-save, vegan, dermatology tested, cruelty-free. A cream-to-water texture, very good under make-up and good for humidity, fragrance-free, no sunscreen smell, very good one also for sensitive skin. I think this is a good one to check out, I will definitely continue to use it and purchase it again. It's from Switzerland... Love your channel, great content, and love your recommendations.
Was always a fan of the La Roche posay 💯 Recently bought the brand Mesoestetic, the spf 130 pigment control. It's a Spanish brand, amazing formula with lots of skin benefits , only one downside, gets a bit shiny! 🙃 Thanks for this video 🙏💖🥳
I have checked and you are right they are a US brand but they have launched EU formulations which will be rolled out over the next year which is what confused me but the European formulations are wonderful and I love the brand... sending you so much love xxxx
@@MadAboutSkin do you know where I am able to purchase it in the EU? I live in Germany and can't find it. I contacted Elta MD US and they replied by saying it not available in the EU. Very confused and really want to try this sunscreen as its seems to be the best. Can you please assist?
Really enjoyed this concise, informative video. Living in the U.S., the only European sunscreen that I have used is Nivea Sun UV Face Sensitive Soothing 50 High. Purchased on Amazon, all Greek in description! Wonderfully creamy texture and very handy to carry in my purse.
An unexpected cruelty free dupe for LRP's very popular Shaka Fluid is Garnier Ambre Solaire. They have a few different fluids that are really good. And Garnier, even though they are owned by L'Oréal are nowadays cruelty free.
I like EU sunscreens, I've used the Vichy Dry Touch SPF 50, Soltan and Eucerin sun gel-cream and quite like them. They have really high protection and I found them more effective at preventing me from tanning compared to other countries sunscreen.
Can I ask you about the cast? I want to buy the eucerin and Vichy sus crees but my skin is brown, so I don't want to purchase just to not use them. Thank you
Love this! It's only been this summer that I have gotten into Asian sunscreens and I'm loving them, have quite a collection going! So much better than American sunscreen, before that I didnt even know it was possible to like a sunscreen because ours are awful! Time to expand and try some European. Thank you for doing this. Have a beautiful day 💕
OMG yes I love the garnier sunscreens they are some of my holy grails and I am kicking myself for not including it in this video.. sending you lots of love xxxx
I was watching this video, all excited about the different sunscreens. But at the end I got distracted by the Eurovision reference and started playing music in my head. Good thing that happened on the last sunscreen mentioned.
I live in Mexico and fortunately we can buy most European sunscreen brands everywhere at a pretty cheap price. LRP, Vichy, ISDIN, Heliocare, Bioderma, Eucerin, etc. I was just recently in LA and ran out of sunscreen. I had such a hard time finding a good American brand. Luckily I discovered EltaMD's UV sport and I'm in love with it now ❤️ too bad it's twice as expensive if i buy it here in Mexico lol
Great video! Will have a look at altruist. I’m using the Isdin Foto Ultra Age Repair SPF50. Love love love this product 🥰 Easy to apply, not sticky at all. You don’t feel it’s there ! It’s around 20€. From what I could understand in the ingredients, you have allantoin, glycerin, ascorbyl palmitate, ascorbic acid (at the end, but it’s there), peptides, vitamin E, HA ….
I use altruist spf 30 as just like a daily moisturiser (it’s literally cheaper per ml than any other moisturiser) I love it. Tho if it’s really sunny I go for one that’s not as greasy so I can apply full coverage.
@@sara.m88 Unfortunately the FAQ in their website mentions "Given the interest in this issue we have investigated further and we know that the components are fully vegan except for Xanthan Gum as there are enzymes used during a fermentation process to get Xanthan Gum. The typical production process of Xanthan uses Iysozyme derived from the egg white of chicken eggs"
@@sara.m88 yes their website is very manipulative, I guess anybody can make any claim they want! But ethical elephant and cruelty free kitty made the analysis that they're not vegan despite their claims! They said xanthan gum is usually vegan anyway, so idk why they're sourcing it from innocent animals? So I guess you can email them that their claims were false and you'd like to return it, if it's too expensive to return then atleast they get your email complaining about their false claims? Also altruist sunscreen is toooooo expensive! I live in Australia and I use Natio SPF 50, it's $20 AUD for 100ml & it's moisturizing.
Love Bioderma.. Photoderm Cover Touch is amazing to cover and protect my Melasma... La Roche Posay Anthelios is so so good is beautiful on the skin, under makeup...
Great reviews! I love my Elta MD Restore. It has squalane which is awesome for my dry skin, and the tinted one blends into my dark tan skin perfectly! I want to try Dr. V's Inzincable soon. Hope you can review!!
Heliocare, Isdin, Rudolphs Care, Garnier, P30, Tropicania, Evy... there are so many good ones!! even the Mercadona supermarket line in Spain is amazing.
Wait so does bioderma have higher uva protection than altruist? The altruist supposedly has 54 PPD while bioderma photoderm products supposedly have between 30-42 PPD which is still very high but not as high as altruist.
Yay yay yayyy for sunscreen videos! The weather has been sooo sunny and shiny this week love it xxxx altruist is definitely one of my HG’s 💜💜🥰I still have the garnier sunscreens on my sunscreen wish list 😆sending sooo much Thursday love 😘😘
I know what you mean Chris, if the weather keeps up like this then sunscreen sales in the Uk will be going through the roof lol... I love the garnier sunscreens and kicking myself for not including them on this list for sure... sending you lots of love xxxxx
The next sunscreen I'm going to buy will by one of the Skinnies. i love the idea of using less product. I'm curious if anyone has used these, and how they perform under makeup? That's my biggest issue! SO CLOSE TO 50k subscribers. It's going to be SO SOON NOW!!🥳🥳🥳
HI hun, thank you so so much for watching and I havent tried any of their products but I will pop them on the to try list... sending you lots of love xxxx
I suggest face fluid for face. I tried regular altruist for face but its too greasy and made my eyes sting like hell for hours. But face fluid is great for face. Offers incredible protection while still being realtively light without causing too much white cast or greasiness. The other altrusit sunscreens are great for rest of the body but I wouldnt use them for face.
Hi!! I’m a little late to the party but I really want to get my hands on Altruid Sunscreen. I read their Amazon reviews and there are people complaining about burns, have you ever experienced this? In the wake of the purito scandal I am super weary it might sound too good to be true. :(
I just received my Altruist haul (I'm in the US). I didn't like the sunscreens 😏 oof I'm so disappointed. I LOVE Eltamd!! My favs: Physical, Clear, Pure, and Shield. Just perfection 🥰 💞 👌
@@madeline569 I ordered the Face Fluid and the spf 50. The Face Fluid burned my eyes so bad. It has a nice finish though. The spf 50 is very shiny and tacky. I'll use both on neck, chest, ears, arms, & feet.
I mean, NZ brand is absolutely not European, but I'll never say no to a sunscreen rec! I was surprised to se EltaMD on here as I'd mainly seen them in the US, but I don't know where they're from. Would also love to know where you got the UVA protection details on the Bioderma Photoderm products as I was looking at them recently and saw nothing more specific than "broad spectrum" on their website (no * or + rating or protection value either...)
Hi hun, I am so sorry its a mistake and I will upload a clarification, they are a US brand but they have new European formulations which they are rolling out here and these are the ones I have been referring to... sending you lots of love xxxx
hi hun, last time I spoke to them they had it in plan for October but I am still waiting to hear the confirmation.. I will share it as soon as I know... sending you lots fo love xxxxx
Hi Rob. I think Elta MD is a U.S. brand. I live in the Netherlands and had a really difficult finding Elta MD in Europe. When I did find it online the price was outrageous 😧😎
They're owned by Colgate Palmolive in the US. The brand originally started in Switzerland by an American who went there to study udder cream. He started the Swiss- American company and Eltamd has been bought several times now. It's US based.
hi, i have a question regarding Missha sunscreens, are they safe to use? please let me know :) your videos are so informative and love your personality, sending love
hi hun, I havent seen much testing on them but the ones I have checked did well on the SPF testing but less well on the UVA... sending you lots of love xxxxx
@nafisa jahan I've used Missha Aqua sun gel 50 +++++ for a year (summer & winter months) and while I think it makes an okay primer for makeup I don't recommend it if you have any, and I mean ANY dry skin or even the smallest wrinkles. It did make my skin feel ultra smooth but it was also ultra mattifying so it showed the smallest of wrinkles on my forehead that I had never noticed before. It's also not the best price point, in my opinion. For what you pay the bottle is only, maybe, half full at best. Hope this helps. Cheers!
I really wanted to love Altruist but damn it, all of their suncreens pill so badly on me, including the fluid and the anti-redness one😩. I've tried minimal skincare underneath, different producs but they pill every time! Anyone else have this issue?
I love it :) the only reason I didnt put it in this list is it can be a little hard to get but its so so good even on my super oily skin... sending you lots of love xxxxx
Love the altruist for the body but the P20 is an amazing sunscreen too so thanks for reminding me of it.. I hope all is amazing with you hun and sending you lots of love xxxx
Tried LRP, Altruist and Bioderma (both aquafluid and the regular one). Altruist, fail, Bioderma aquafluid fail, Bioderma photoderm regular one a bit better than aquafluid. LRP looooove it , but it can be drying. I have dry acne prone skin.
I really love Paula’s Choice Youth Extending Fluid SPF 50 but am underwhelmed at the accusations it doesn’t have great UVA protection and also not water resistant. Do you still think it’s a good product? I know it’s loaded with antioxidants and feels very comfortable and nourishing. I’m also newly trying La Roche Posay Shaka Fluid for its high UVA protection but it doesn’t feel as great and not sure if my skin likes the alcohol content in it. I’m so torn lol.
I like the Paula’s choice youth extending - but- in Australia it is only rated at 15+ in accordance with our standards. So it’s now a winter daytime, stay inside moisturiser
I'm desperately trying to find a good online vendor that ships European sunscreens to the US. I wish I could purchase European sunscreens on Amazon US just as I can for Korean sunscreens!
Hi! PLEASE can u do a review on VICHY, EUCERIN, URIAGE and other european water based/dry oil sunscreen. I have read that dry oil is mich better the the normal sunscreen? How true is that?
Wait, EltaMD is European?! Whuuuut?! I've been searching for a European webshop that sells the brand, but couldn't find any. Was convinced it was American. 😑
Elta MD is definitely not a European brand. I love their sunscreens but I always need to have them shipped over from the US. I cannot even find them online in Europe (except rarely on Amazon) let alone buy them in store. In case I'm totally mistaken, I would appreciate a European link! 🙏
Here’s an idea for another sunscreen video…. Passable North American sunscreens for us saps over here that do t have access to great sunscreens (except when we order online). Come on over and do some research here…. You have a place to stay!! xxxxxx
The moment I put sunscreens near my eyes they just stream and sting like anything. Any recommendations for sunscreens which won't sting the eyes please? Xxx
Through years of trial and error I’ve found that Avobenzone almost always stings my eyes and causes me to cry off the sunscreen I applied. I think high concentrations of Octocrylene can cause a similar reaction. I really like UltraSun and Oriflame Sweden sunscreens. They use modern filters that don’t sensitize my skin or sting my eyes
I buy a mineral spf just for my eye area. I prefer chemical spf's so I use chemical everywhere apart from my eyes and apply mineral to the whole eye area.
@@saml2570 At the moment I'm using Dr Sam Bunting gossamer flawless in tint 01. I have dark under eye circles and the tint helps me not look so tired 😂 I've also used one of the Paula's Choice ones before and the Heliocare mineral spf. As I just use them on my eyes they last months so I don't mind spending a bit more on them. Cheap and cheerful for the chemical spf's for my face though!
I bought this one and was so upset that it didn't work for my skin. The denatured alcohol was too drying for my skin. I was really disappointed! I'm glad it works for you!
SVR extreme 50....is a great matt one and their blur has the very slightest peach color and a kind of whipped gel texture.....they are known for their skin-like textures. SVR is an incredible company and helps all skin issues. I also like Frezyderm (Greece) but they are too expensive. the formula is a gel type and goes on incredibly and feels like skin. They have natural and tinted. Roche Posay is very popular in the EU and many are turned off by the runny nature but has not been a problem for me and it is quite popular. La Roche Posay is great but I find them all too greasy for my face and I have tried quite a number of them. But ya, here in the EU, hands down the sunscreens are far superior to the states....no comparison.
Are there any sunscreens specific for the eye area? I'm fed up of getting sunscreen in my eyes as it stings so much more. Amy suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 😊
Please don't use North American interchangeably with the US. Canadian sunscreens are much closer to European than US sunscreens. Formulations for the same product are almost always different (and better) in Canada compared to the US counterparts.

@@threatlevelmidnight3588 Great idea!! Thank you❤️
Thanks Rob!
Did you try Evy Technology sunscreens? They seem so innovative ! I'm planning to buy one soon
Hi hun, I havent tried them yet but I will be in the future and really look forward to it.. sending you lots of love xxxx
Ooo the skinnies spf looks interesting 😍 i want to try. Can that Altruist spf spray be used over makeup? Or needs to be rubbed in?
Great video as always
would love to see your review on some SVR sunscreens, especially SVR Blur SPF 50
Svr cream spf 50+
SVR sunsecure water SPF
HI hun, thank you so so much for watching and I havent tried any of their products but I will pop them on the to try list... sending you lots of love xxxx
Need to get my hands on the altruist face sunscreen but it’s so hard in the US!
Hi there thanks for your great videos. Are all the altruist ones suitable for the face? or would you only suggest the face fluid?
I suggest face fluid for face. I tried regular altruist for face but its too greasy and made my eyes sting like hell for hours. But face fluid is great for face. Offers incredible protection while still being realtively light without causing too much white cast or greasiness. The other altrusit sunscreens are great for rest of the body but I wouldnt use them for face.
Great video. I need to figure out how to get these sunscreens in the US.
Hi Stacy, I hope all is good with you hun and you have a nice weekend planned.. sending you lots of love xxxx
La Roche Posay is the goat for me. Also, the Garnier fluid is totally a dupe for me in terms of texture and finish!
Thanks for sharing, what didn't you like about the altruista one?
@@madeline569 I ordered the Face Fluid and the spf 50. The Face Fluid burned my eyes so bad. It has a nice finish though. The spf 50 is very shiny and tacky. I'll use both on neck, chest, ears, arms, & feet.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on Evy sunscreen mouse!
Hi hun, I havent tried it yet but its on the list of ones to try... sending you lots of love xxxx
Ha,ha,ha😆😆 love your honourable
mention of skinnies. You would be a great diplomat 🥰
And one for sunscreen that doesn't sting the eyes 🥺. Mineral is definitely soothing but on my brown skin, under makeup...sigh!
I use altruist on my body and p20 kids on my face. Both I order from Amazon uk.
EltaMD in Europe….? Their web-site specifically says: «EltaMD does not ship to customers outside of the United States.» 🧐😕
Hi hun, I am so sorry its a mistake and I will upload a clarification, they are a US brand but they have new European formulations which they are rolling out here and these are the ones I have been referring to... sending you lots of love xxxx
Hey Rob, can you please review evy mousse sunscreen. It’s a Swedish brand. I really want to know your opinion.
Hi Rob are there any updates about bioderma going cruelty free ? Thank you
hi hun, last time I spoke to them they had it in plan for October but I am still waiting to hear the confirmation.. I will share it as soon as I know... sending you lots fo love xxxxx
Hi Rob. I think Elta MD is a U.S. brand. I live in the Netherlands and had a really difficult finding Elta MD in Europe. When I did find it online the price was outrageous 😧😎
I think so as well. I used to think it was a German brand but it's hardly available here in Germany and pricey if available.
Cheers!
Is Bioderma cruelty free? Would love to try it if it is?
I rely on Dr. Sam's information and would love to try her sunscreen, but it's a little pricey in the US.
I really wanted to love Altruist but damn it, all of their suncreens pill so badly on me, including the fluid and the anti-redness one😩. I've tried minimal skincare underneath, different producs but they pill every time! Anyone else have this issue?
Ir pills slighltly, yet I would love it unless it would not sting my eyes so badly
Where did you find the info about the UVA protection of Bioderma?
Yes, I’m interested to know more about the UVA of Bioderma
Are you going to try the new facetheory zinc oxide sunscreen?
I love Caudalie and Bioderma products.
Do you recommend some sunscreen from Cien? For oily skin
I love it :) the only reason I didnt put it in this list is it can be a little hard to get but its so so good even on my super oily skin... sending you lots of love xxxxx
I love so much the scent of it. It's a joy to wear it.
If you have access to Cosmica/ACO or Cliniderm, those are great, and cruelty free!
You should try heliocare (it's also european) 🤗
Thank you so so much for sharing hun and I will check them out.. sending you lots of love xxxx
Anthelios (not tinted) is the winner for me (oily t-zone, normal cheeks)
I use P20 for kids on my face (I use anessa perfect milk for reapplication). I use Altruist on my body 😊
Love the altruist for the body but the P20 is an amazing sunscreen too so thanks for reminding me of it.. I hope all is amazing with you hun and sending you lots of love xxxx
Please please do a review of Heliocare/ISDIN/Lancaster...these brands are more easily available via look fantastic into India
Hi hun thank you so so much for your product recommendations and I will check them out.. sending you lots of love xxxx
Hi Rob🙋🏽♀🙋🏽♀
I'm desperately trying to find a good online vendor that ships European sunscreens to the US. I wish I could purchase European sunscreens on Amazon US just as I can for Korean sunscreens!
I order mine through Cosmetis.
The Skin Clinic Shop- I just got an Altruist haul from them to the US. Highly recommend. Yesstyle is where I get my Asian sunscreens.
Care to beauty
Which ones are for the most sensitive skin? Zinc oxide breaks me out and dry me out, so I need to use a chemical one.
Your Skinnies justification is hilarious
Hi! PLEASE can u do a review on VICHY, EUCERIN, URIAGE and other european water based/dry oil sunscreen. I have read that dry oil is mich better the the normal sunscreen? How true is that?
Non tinted, best mineral sunscreen recommendations? That are affordable
Wait, EltaMD is European?! Whuuuut?! I've been searching for a European webshop that sells the brand, but couldn't find any. Was convinced it was American. 😑
I think there is an error, eltamd is American
@@marynjesh, right?? I did some googling after watching this, and it definitely looks like it's American.
Plz recommend me afforable sunscreen for oily and a little acne skin
Elta MD is definitely not a European brand. I love their sunscreens but I always need to have them shipped over from the US. I cannot even find them online in Europe (except rarely on Amazon) let alone buy them in store. In case I'm totally mistaken, I would appreciate a European link! 🙏
Here’s an idea for another sunscreen video…. Passable North American sunscreens for us saps over here that do t have access to great sunscreens (except when we order online). Come on over and do some research here…. You have a place to stay!! xxxxxx
AGREE! I'm using up the last of my La Roche Posay face sunscreens, and then I'll have to decide which ones I'm going to try, so many to choose from!
How is biodermas UVB protection?
It's really good they have some of the highest on the market x
The bioderma photoderm even come in spf 100. I wonder how much better it is that spf 50
So if EltaMD is european brand, where can I buy it, does anyone know that? :)
On Amazon and a lot of dermatologist's offices
On Amazon and a lot of dermatologist's offices
Hey can you tell whether or not verdio spf 50+ gel is ok? I am thinking about purchasing it but I don't know if it has enough uva protection.
Hi hun, sorry but I havent seen much on this one and no testing on its spf.. sending you lots of love xxxx
@@lucywright6660 which brand of mineral sunscreen do you usually buy for under your eyes?
@@maenad1231 Thank you ❤️
@@saml2570 At the moment I'm using Dr Sam Bunting gossamer flawless in tint 01.
I love my La Roche Posay Fluide Invisible
yay I am so so glad its working so well for you hun and sending you lots fo love xxxxx
I bought this one and was so upset that it didn't work for my skin. The denatured alcohol was too drying for my skin. I was really disappointed! I'm glad it works for you!
@@Patti-1962 really, I have oily skin so it works well on my face
@@Patti-1962 same too. It dries and irritates my skin. I think alcohol is the culprit.
@@teeshaluv3757 Absolutely!
Uriage bariesun is great!!!!!
Are there any sunscreens specific for the eye area? I'm fed up of getting sunscreen in my eyes as it stings so much more.
Amy suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 😊
La Roche Posay mentioned in the video does not sting my eyes at all, bioderma does ever so slightly, altruist stings very badly.
@@edgarscirulis1129
Thank you, good to know , La Roche Posay it is 👍👍
Since when is EltaMD European????? Its literally impossible to get their sunscreen in Germany without paying 50+ Euros for the shipping
Altruist pills like crazy on me! 😪
Please don't use North American interchangeably with the US. Canadian sunscreens are much closer to European than US sunscreens. Formulations for the same product are almost always different (and better) in Canada compared to the US counterparts.
:cries in US UV filters. 😭
🥰
I want to dedicate this video to you hun as I know you are a total fan of the eltaMD :) sending you so so much love xxxxx
Were you first, Malenthia?❤️
@@Patti-1962 I don't think so. I was late today bc I was driving.
@@MadAboutSkin it's a great sunscreen. 🥰
Preventing UVA defeats the whole purpose of getting a sun tan
To long talking , just get to the point
