The band is amazing live so try watching their live performances when you can. They'll also be touring later this year and will be in London on October 11 if you're interested. Highly recommend you try to make it to their show if you take a liking to their music.

Hello and welcome to OOR! 🤘 They’re awesome live… they do have some backing keyboard and some rhythm guitar tracks but it’s definitely them live. I saw them at the end of last year… I’d recommend “Take Me to the Top” from the 35XXXV tour for the next one if you wanna hear what they sound like live.
OOR is best enjoyed live. This song doesn't yet have a live performance (maybe in a few days, as they start the festivals in Japan). But be prepared that this band isn't your conventional rock band with the overall same sound all the time. Like, I love for example Imagine Dragons, but most of their songs are in the same sound spectrum. OOR experiments a lot with different genres (and that's why they also have a lot of haters besides having a lot of fans). You will find pop rock songs, grunge, alt rock, hard rock, pop punk, power pop, post-hardcore and even emo in their repertoire. :) They have matured a lot over the years, well they started out as emo teens and now they are really like "the band of the people, for the people". Taka (the singer) has said many times that they want to uplift their audience, so most of their songs are meaningful and have a positive message. They are equally masters of heavy headbangers and heart wrenching ballads. :) and Taka is a world class performer with regards to singing technique and stage presence too.
Their old songs are great, too. It’s hard to choose one for a recommendation. In Japanese there’s not clear difference between Rs and Ls when they appear in a conversation. That’s why OK Rock part sounds like O’clock when it’s said quickly. And at one o’clock am, started the cheapest time unit they could afford in the old days when they were young and practiced a lot in a rental studio. They named after that fact, that’s what I heard.
I ran across this group about a month ago and they totally blew my mind. They are amazing. They were formed in 2005 so they been doing this for almost 20 years but I have never heard of them until recently. I don't exactly understand why but... Their name in Japanese is "ワンオクロック" which translates into English as "One O'clock." Supposedly, there is some kind of play on words that gets lost in the translation to English. Now that I'm listening closely to this song, I'm pretty sure I detect significant autotune/pitch correction in his vocals. That seems to be more the rule rather than the exception nowadays.
I can't exactly remember the story behind the name but I THINK it's because when they were new, they could only get studio time around 1:00am or something. Also, Japanese people have a hard time with the letter "R" so it became One o'clock. The story is along that line. :)

Good vocals and musicians. For me, I understand it went with the theme of the song but it was like the instruments and vocals were constantly fighting to be louder than the other and wasn't that pleasing.
Band-Maid has a social commentary track--the music video anyway--which turns a lot of Maidiacs off so it's not recommended often. It's called The Dragon Cries. You can listen/watch to it if you like. It's only the band's 2nd full English song and is produced by Tony Visconti. The Live version is much, much better but it's not an official one; only fancam.
